This movie is excellent. Fundamentally a rejection of the attitudes of Japan at the time during WWII (Every film is political, for those who have a problem with that: Get over it.), it expertly establishes a fundamentally life affirming message. I rate this movie as my favorite Godzilla movie, beating out even the original Godzilla. Other people have commented on the interpretation of the name, I largely agree with it. On the topic of the next film. The director of this film has announced that he is honored to do another one, and so we will have more news in the future regarding the next film. It is wildly believed to be a follow up to this one (I don't entirely know if its been confirmed). Not all Godzilla films are neatly in continuity with each other, but whether or not this is the only of its kind, or the start of a new timeline, we saw human beings struggling and ultimately overcoming the visual representation of death and destruction in a manner that doesn't glorify violence, but celebrates life. Amazing film.

oh I'm glad you enjoyed that! I think maybe you can watch the original Godzilla (1954) since it's the beginning of everything. People still put it as top 3 out of all the movies. With these 2 in the top 3, that only leaves 1 😊 but you can watch more maybe. I'm not an expert at all on Godzilla but many peeps really liked Godzilla vs Destoroyah (1995). But the top 6 from different lists maybe are very similar just that each title will land in different places... except the original (1954) always is in the top 3 if not always #1.
