This movie won a poll on the youtube community page! I could only add 5 options, so let me know other animated movies that you'd like me to watch! :) As always, if you like someone else's suggestion, make sure to like that comment (it gives me a better idea which ones are wanted by many people).

I really enjoyed this one! The concept is so nice with all the feelings, and also the little arc that you need to feel sad sometimes to enjoy the good times too. And that it's not this emotion OR that emotion, but that they go hand in hand. I also loved how the little control centers that everyone has, had emotions that fit their temperament and exterior too :D

Never underestimate the power of animation to make you feel things. :) A couple of recent Pixar movies you might enjoy: SOUL (2020) and TURNING RED (2022). Both were intended for theaters, but went straight to Disney+ due to the pandemic. They're both quite good and will probably get you all emotional again. :)

It's very interesting to rewatch this movie because we probably all were kind of annoyed with Sadness in the beginning, not understanding why she kept trying to influence Riley and her memories and just wanting Joy to take charge. But rewatching it, you notice how overbearing Joy is, representing that kind of forced, toxic positivity that Riley's parents also kind of force on her. Joy accepts the necessity of the other "negative" emotions even if she (rightly) thinks that it's better to mostly feel happiness. But just because she doesn't understand Sadness, she just thinks that she must be pointless and pushes her away constantly, not thinking that it might actually help to let Sadness intervene sometimes. Which is really what toxic positivity is. Trying to push away sadness into a corner, not letting it out, until it destroys you from within. I love the defense of sadness and grief in this movie, showing people why we possess these emotions because they're certainly not useless.

Sidenote: It's also in general quite interesting that they portray 4 negative emotions and only one positive one, and "joy" is also a very unspecific emotion. It reflects something that is shared by basically all languages in the world, that we have more words to describe negative emotions than we do positive ones which probably says something about our psychology and how we view these feelings.
