So I had no idea this movie was about a submarine, until I mentioned this one at work and one of my coworkers (who is a big movie fan) told me and was excited for me to watch it.

I did love this movie a loooot. It always kept you wondering, they were always steps ahead. Many times you could feel being dragged into a moment and then when that moment finished you realize that you had forgotten that so many other things are going on at the same time (like the Russian chase or the saboteur inside).

I also really enjoyed seeing the different characters all playing their part in looking for solutions and working together to get there.

It definitely tickled the brain, which I really enjoyed!

Wonderful reaction to an excellent film, Mari! I read nearly all of Clancy's novels back in the day, long before there were films made of them. Some of the films have been good, like this one, some of them have been MEH. I would recommend Clear and Present Danger, AND Patriot Games, where Harrison Ford took the role of Jack Ryan. The Sum of all Fears film, I didn't think was worth my time AFTER watching it. That is one of my favorite books (Without Remorse is my MOST favorite book of Clancy's) and it had a bunch of things in the story that didn't make it to the film version. Another commenter has identified several of the actors and other roles. One that I only recognized recently was Tomas Arana, who played the KGB cook. You've seen him at least once, in Gladiator. He played Quintus, the officer who orders the praetorians to execute Maximus. I would also like to recommend to you the film Crimson Tide, with Gene Hackman and Denzel Washington in the lead roles. Excellent submarine flick in my opinion.
