This movie won best picture at the Oscar's for what it's worth. You picked up on a lot of the contrasts between the rich and poor in this movie which is good. I always wondered in this movie who were the parasites? You mentioned something about seeing more movie festival movies, that is how you know you are becoming a movie connoisseur. There are a lot of great indie movies (think early Tarantino), foreign films (I'm Canadian and know most North American's won't read subtitles), and niche films which are great but not well known. Thankfully you have a community to recommend the not as well known movies. You were talking about name structure during the movie and I know cultures from around the world have different naming conventions. In Asia status plays a big part in how you communicate and address someone, especially if they are higher up than you. I watched a video which broke down some of the scenes and how the daughter disrespectfully addressed the rich mother. The rich mother didn't take notice of it which kind of feeds into how 'simple' she is. Unfortunately it is hard to translate those undertones threw subtitles.

A great film, for sure, but I'd argue that Bong Joon-ho has made even better films! Memories of Murder and The Host are extraordinarily entertaining, and I think Mother is his masterpiece.
