Looks like Patreon ate my comment so here goes again lol: Re-suggesting my old idea, an old, defunct Ranger Order has become a fraternal organization for the well-to-do of a certain isolated town. No one takes the old lore seriously, because no one has even seen a monster for over 300 years. Which is why no one has any reason to be suspicious, though they are surprised, when a clan of Goblin Maids shows up. Being modern, sensible people, the townsfolk believe them when they say that all the old tales are nonsense, they'd never subvert the town and turn it into a Goblin Queendom, and anyway no one believes in magic anymore. So they allow the Goblins to move into the town. Before they know it, all the Goblins are married to human men. Not long after that, they seem to be running the town(being shrewd merchants and persuasive politicians). A generation later, the first round of (18+, duh) daughters are now looking for husbands. And no one seems to notice that the more Goblins there are, the more the humans of the town, men and women both, seem... Dull. Suggestible. Obedient. No one, that is, except the oldest/last member of the order, the only one bookish and serious enough to believe the old lore. And his books say that by the time the second generation of Goblins marries, it's too late. Because Goblins' strength, physically and magically, is in numbers. And he's running out of time to warn everyone- and the Goblins are aware of him too...
