“I don’t give a flying fuck into a rolling doughnut what Al Pacino thinks" William Friedkin is a beast.

Angel of Verdun

William Friedkin also did The French Connection, Sorcerer and To Live and Die in LA.

There is a weird connection between the Exorcist and the Bag murders that were partly the inspiration for Crusing. The guy who played the radiologist in the Exorcist was suspected to be the killer in the bag murders. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Bateson

Interesting you brought up “The Sixth Sense”. My sister-in-law grew up less than 15 miles away from where M. Night Shyamalan grew up in the western suburbs of Philly. After she saw “The Sixth Sense” in the 90s, she told us she remembers a locally produced TV show in the Philly area from the 60s and 70s and they had an episode whose ending was exactly the same plot twist as The Sixth Sense. This TV show was a locally produced show similar to Outer Limits or The Twilight Zone…and should have probably been on Channel 17 (WPHL), Channel 29 (WIBF/WTAF), or Channel 48 (WKBS). I can’t find the name of the TV show series online, but I have no reason to believe my S-I-L was lying. She’s probably 10+ years older than M. Night Shymalan. It would be interesting if someone could dig up this info and compare the TV show to The Sixth Sense.
