Hey there folks.A special edition of Chrysalis is being put together for kickstarter later in the year and I had a question regarding the style of art you would like to see in the book.

There are all sorts of features being proposed, like a beastiary and a fancy leather cover etc, but this is the one thing I want feedback on immediately.

What sort of art style do you want to see in the special edition?

I cast the vote thinking of armies of realistic ants in battle and cute queen with friends sitting at a tea table.

If there are pictures of ancients in the book I'd want them to all be super realistic even if you do a lot more of the cartoonist style for most other monsters. Oh and a thought I just had that would be fun would be at the very end of the bestiary a drawing of gandalf with all the info besides the name blacked out like a redacted CIA document.

If I had my druthers, I’d love some kind of stylization in the art. Someone who can design stuff that looks awesome with pushed proportions and style -like Liana Anatolevich or Enrique Fernandez. There’s so much energy and cool-factor to their art. I’m not saying it has to be them, but I think someone with good draftsmanship and a unique style that isn’t just anime would be so cool for Chrysalis.

More realistic , as fanciful as that is already. I think the sense of scale would become more apparent in doing that . I had to get an image of a Formica ant and scale it up next to a bus for it to really sink in :) The queens having tea with guests would look awesome

Realistic with little toonish versions every so often, like having 40K realism pics and then throw in a Chibi character or illustration of a moment in the book

I don’t know about anyone else but I imagine them when not walking around on all six, a bit more centaurish in their stance .

Oh second thought, have that last one maybe not be all blacked out but maybe have it "written" by Anthony with maybe a chibi Anthony in the corner pointing at gandalf and it like contains the rambling thoughts of how mysterious gandalf is and what's he's learned and can speculate about

Oh but maybe that'd work better for later entries when he's learned more about gandalf and if you do more books slowly those cia style black markings disappear to reveal Anthony's thoughts and knowledge of gandalf

Realistic. I quite enjoy the toon version(huge manga/manhua fan), but then again I do like Lovecraftian fiction so more realistic depiction is what I really want to see. Not that I would argue with both as the toon inserts can be a good way to bookend a joke in the text, but the monsters descriptions would call for a good realistic depiction. In my opinion, that is.

I think of your story as a realistic work with a little extra animation with the expressions of the ants: like the lion king “live action”. Like, you can tell what they are feeling based on the antenna. I really love that Anthony vs Garalosh epic drawing from before, that was cool

I like the imagery of a colossal ant with an unreadable expression, radiating pure power. It forces a mind bridge into your feeble mind and as you await your death all you hear is a relatively young voice saying "hey, you alright there? You look like youre about to pass out"

You could do the kumo route if you mean the ants/Anthony see themselves cuter than the legion.

I think the majority should be realistic to sell the danger and severity of the situation, but a little chibi anime flair could do wonders for the funny parts. “Hello mother! THWACK!”

I would like something very real and epic with cartoon Antony explaining things Anyway please tell us when you rlease it im gonna buy it immediately

This is a great take, cartoon Anthony is in his head, while giving us real Anthony to look at. It would be cool to see Dark Anthony pop up just to get "thwacked" away by Cartoon Anthony XD
