Next and final release of this comic will be as a compilation of all 61+ pages, with minor fixes and coloured!

this is pretty early on in the story, so there’s a lot of distrust between the two of them- Tessa as the Solver laying in wait, and J as a pain in the ass.

King tier- Sketch requests for last months are delayed due to moving countries, new job, and the like -but are currently in progress. you are free to send Septembers requests now, just restate last months request if you can for clarity! :P

A nice touch of showing Tessa she too has fangs. It makes sense since the original body was cyns. So from my knowledge of reading many of your comics Tessa doesn’t have the solver. So that makes me assume she doesn’t need to drink oil ether? I also remember she doesn’t burn in the sun ether yet still has a fleshy core

ahhhhhh yeessssss yesss I fucking love their deeply complicated, conflicted relationship. Gosh it's so good! And of COURSE J kept a record of the fixes. Of course she did she's such a sentimental mess. I really really love how messy and confrontational this conversation is. Like these two have SO much history but only J knows it. She's obviously got everything up at the forefront of her mind alongside this fear and these new pressures and drives. It's super compelling! And Tessa! This poor girl is like "Why the fuck do you hate me?" alongside her desire to not be a bother and not keep anyone from what they want. She's acutely aware of how much additional time and effort she requires to maintain herself compared to others and that's a real source of anxiety and negative self talk. It's really great. man, what a good comic! I'm enjoying the hell out of it!

I like to think that J’s more thoughtful, compassionate moments are from the small actions left unsaid, unseen. Things that fly under the radar or immediately forgotten due to her abrasive, better-than-you demeanor. And yeah I think for Tessa especially growing up with parents like hers, the entire feeling like “ a burden “ is inflamed. Obviously that isn’t the true, but it can’t feel good for the girl who made it her mission to save others, be unable to even help herself. it’s a big hit to her feeling “useless”, and perhaps even left behind. Both isolate themselves in trying to be pillars of strength. I’m glad you’re enjoying it! :)

I drew a flashback scene, to be inserted into this comic. It wont be with this last batch, because I want to touch on other parts of the story- but there is a cute little moment at the manor with them past hours hehe

ah gosh yeah, Tessa being sort of forced into a position of reliance and the feeling of helplessness by a medical condition seems to really be exacerbating existing feelings. It's a hard thing for anyone to go through, constant pain, memory loss and what have you. But also being confronted by someone who knows a lot about you and is clearly upset by that is rough. It's gotta be just deeply confusing. ESPECIALLY IF J DOESN'T LET HER COMPASSION SHOW! Like the fact that she's even here at all is because she's very thoughtful towards the needs of Khan, she would have just kept arguing and being difficult if she didn't care about his feelings or what he cares about. Like J has such a big heart but is so private and hidden. That abrasive demeanor helps keep people at arms length. also, I really love that Tessa brought up Uzi going on a date, it feels like she was expecting that reaction from J. Just having a bit of a laugh. Tessa may be in a rough state, but she's also super compassionate and WANTS to reach out to J and have some kind of connection. She clearly doesn't want this weird, combative relationship. And the last line! J taking that in and offering something in return. GOSH I can't wait for the next chapters I'm absolutely feasting on this. gotta go back and read the whole thing again with the new pages.

this comic is coming together so nicely! also idk if its intentional or just coincidence but I noticed that in most pages when the emotion/tension is high that the breaks and shapes of each panel is wilder and less 'rectangle' (idk how else to explain it lol). at least that's my take on the framing overall, it just looks really cool :>
