I've also been working on a landscape. far from finished but it's a start

Now onto the more controversial part. These textures I'm using are AI generated. I'm already planning to use AI voices in cutscenes, because they've gotten really good. I've already tested out lip sync and I think it looks cool but that's for a later post. If you think using AI is too much, I can always change the textures. I figured it's better to save time by not making gravel texture so I can focus more on the important bits.

Leaning into the AI workflow, I made these trees using AI textures. Again, if people don't like it, I will change it. Just take into consideration that it will take time.

This is what the environment would look like

When do you think the game will be playable?

Regarding the AI use, personally I don't mind it being used in this context. I have seen soooooo many projects get abandoned due to burnout that I really couldn't care less if someone is using AI to assist on the technical side of things. Creative side is different, if the writing is obviously AI assisted/created, that's where I draw the line.

Considering it's a story heavy game, it's going to have cutscenes already at the very beginning + bunch of activities. I'd give it minimum two months before it starts to feel like a real game. You'd be able to explore the world earlier though, it just wouldn't be filled with a lot of stuff.
