Comments

Lola

Best episode of Cowboy Bebop?

Jam

Andy, you’ve emphasized that pyke is one of your favorite characters you’ve ever made. How do you feel now that your precious baby is totally dead and gone never returning ever?

DreadfulBandit

Have any of you seen Interstella 5555? It's an anime sci fi movie set to Daft Punk's Discovery album with Stardust/Bebop vibes and I think you might like it!

Shrek

I have to miss out on this since I’ll be celebrating my girlfriend’s birthday, but I just wanted to say it’s amazing having SR back! Thanks guys for bringing us fantastic worlds and a great time ❤️

This Is Nawl

Andy, will we ever get a live performance of the Stardust theme?

Tyler

I don't have any questions, I'm just excited for more stardust rhapsody!

TheMadTrickster

I'm excited to see the return of Stardust! What are some of your favorite parts of the Sci-fi genre?

Hufflehotty

How do come up with your ideas for campaigns?

Pidge Platinum

How does it feel to get back to the stars with the Rhapsody and her crew? It sure feels amazing to me. 💜

Hufflehotty

When you get back to the prelude seasons will you bring in how Rhett and Pyke met dandy

Tastydoomtime

Would you trust your clone? I feel like I have the unpopular opinion because I think I could while everyone I ask says no, also can't wait for robo-zombie/robo-cop pyke

bbronto

I cannot express how excited I am for this campaign, it’s my favorite so far out of the entire avantris campaigns and you’ve done a wonderful job, Mace. Out of all of the player characters so far, which has sung to most true to your heart— as in, which do you think you’d relate to the most or make the most similar decisions to?

Byrnikins

If you could be any NPC in stardust who would you be?

SorenSilverblade

If the Rhapsody crew (Dandy and Kavir included) were transported to a Druskenvald-like planet or solar system, what Provinces would they fit into and want to explore most?

Eve

I’m so pumped for this campaign’s return! Thank you guys so much for bringing us such amazing stories! 💜💜 If you guys did actually have the ability to go anywhere in space, where would you go and why?

EmilyInRedCoat

I'm playing space themed campaign for a first time and I struggle to make my characters feel space-like. I still feel it's just normal character that happened to be in space. Any advice?

OwlAndy

I'm gming for the first time with my friend group but I'm a little clunky, any advice on how to be a better story teller?

Clad

Hey, I've been DMing the Crooked Moon for my friends and they've been loving it so far. I noticed that many of the monsters have resistances to weapon damage like slashing but don't state that magical weapons negate that. Was that purposely done or an error?

PepsisFormosa

Do any of you ever miss playing DnD unrecorded? Or does having it recorded add to the stakes and feeling of performance in a purely positive way?

Echoeypie

For the DMs, how do you approach your storytelling in the early stages of planning a campaign? Do you plan out far, despite knowing that things will change depending on character choices?

Kyle

If you all could have a game run by a guest GM so that the entire Avantris cast could play together, would you want it to be a game with an ensemble cast of your previous characters (like your holiday one shots), or something wholly new with all new characters?

Ice Box

Not a question, but the episode thread on Discord will be sending you the invoice for all of our therapy after today lol

VirtualSkald

Did any of you watch titan A.E. ?I feel like stardust Rhapsody shares some vibes with that as well. Also is there a space/90s based supplement in the future for Advantris publishing?

But_is_it_Marinated

Question for Mace— did you know at the beginning of the campaign that so many characters were going to die? (Was it influenced by real life scheduling stuff or just part of the brutality of space?)

Kevin Cohen

Has it been revealed what a Motlien as a race actually provides? Like is it fully custom or another reborn?

kris

Mace, how much have you had to change how you balance combat encounters going from a 6 person party to a 4 person party, and now to a 3 person party.

TheMadMun

What is the surviving members last meal or meal they would eat if they make it out alive?

NornMania

I have a question, WHY?

Clone Andy

Who would win in a death match in the jungle, Clone Andy or Billy Waugh?

Sblibbo

To Mace, when characters were being put on the bus last year, you got it from both sides. Was it more challenging having to put Dandy and Kavir on the bus, or have Yorgrim put on the bus?

NornMania

Now I am afraid to tell you this..

Prince F-8

if you could stop EVERYTHING ye are doing and bring back prime right now, what would be the first thing you'd do to get get yourself in character again or get back into the dm head space?

Fight_Firey

Considering that Stardust Rhapsody draws inspiration from Cowboy Bebop, is anyone interested in the new Lazarus anime coming out by the same people who did Cowboy Bebop?

Michealwithana

So excited for season 2! Do any of you have a song or playlist you associate with your characters?

TeacupTheBopcaJournalist

Have y'all read Space Opera by Catherynne M. Valente? It's basically space Eurovision but the losers have their planets destroyed.

Brianna Lorenzen

Mace: With that shirt, how long have you been a Swifty?

Pineneedles

Mace, what is your favorite planet/spacestation that you have created so far? I loved station 777 it was so charming

TeacupTheBopcaJournalist

Yo Mace, are you going to make us cry more???? Do you have any rug pulling plans??? (to pull the rug from under our feet, nothing else)

Nicholas Urenha

When you mentioned the near future and far future feel from the SDR setting it made me think — have you guys ever seen Gintama? It’s an anime set in the Edo period but with an alien invasion and sci fi technology, and it’s a really fun mix.

Clone Andy

Watching Mace subconsciously move with the music as you do your announcements is very therapeutic.

Cobalt Bluewaters

What were some of the inspirations you used to help design & build out the campaign, I get the feel of 90's anime in there, what else inspired you?

Crystalline_Roses

questions originally asked from joules: are rett's prosthetics and electric parts waterproof? what are each characters assigned instrument to the stardust rhapsody? if the sdr characters were rewritten for the fantasy world of avantris, what would their races and classes be?

OwlAndy

When does the crooked moon store close?

Kaotic

In any campaign you’ve played, was there an NPC’s death that affected you the most? One that changed your character’s perspective or even impacted you as a player?

Clone Andy

I just bought all the plushies last night. I can’t not wait to have tea parties with my nieces and the characters of up rooted. It is so cool that I have all the characters personalties and voices.

Kyle Hutchings

When the inevitable Stardust Rhapsody plushie campaign arrives, make sure Leboosh is one of those rubbery stress toys and Pike is scented like an ashtray.

Eldritch Pizza

Can't watch the premiere since I'm still catching up on the first season, but wanted you all to know I'm so hooked on it that I completely forgot about Uprooted on Wednesday. What would you say your is Stardust character's guilty pleasure? Can be a type of food, a space TV show, music; anything along those lines

But_is_it_Marinated

Mace have you always had this dog in you or did you go to the pet store specifically to DM Stardust?

TeacupTheBopcaJournalist

WAS IT ALL A LIE!?!!?!?!?!? THE WHOLE TIME????? sorry, sorry. let me compose myself. Did you know that this would be a pryke's story?

OpalEye 42

Wow, just wow. Now, I have to ask, and please don't lie, was this the plot all along or did you come up with this a month ago?

Byle

HOW THICK/WHAT SHAPE ARE LAZER NOODLES AND WHAT ARE THEY SERVED WITH

CodingZerp

Should all past class information be considered as retconned or just a lie this whole time?

Keelay42

Is Mikey using a language like huttese for Glup, or is he just doing some great improv noises?

Steptical

Does Quibly happen to be inspired by Gwimbly

CodingZerp

is Aetheron the new way of saying Aether Dwarf or an entirely separate species?

Kevin Cohen

Is Quibley inspired by Pleakley from the Lilo & Stitch movie?

Mars

When will witchlight come back? I miss it so! 🥲

starrysquid51

any advice for anyone who may be nervous playing in a campaign for a first time / has social anxiety about playing

Fancy Frogmouth

Glup's language. What is the irl basis for it because it sounds very Star Wars?

CodingZerp

How do you spell the name of the artist who drew Glup and quibly's art? Ona?

sdwa

As a mushroom man, does Quibly have legs or does he hop around with a single cowboy boot?

Cobalt Bluewaters

Andy, how was your mug of chats tears while off camera?

Fancy Frogmouth

Follow up question for our new crew members, if Quibly did "take off" his hat would there be a brain under it or more mushroomy meat?

TK

They announced it at the beginning, April 23rd

Schibbly_Delicious

I have seen that Andy has some guitars, how do you practice and what do you practice?

TK

Is this a reset and you're retconning season 1?

Nym but not Nymble

Were Casey and Arya a part of the year-long planning for season 2, i.e, did they have any hand in what Pyke mentioned their characters were actually like compared to how they were in the campaign?

Jacky_alltrades

Mace: can you confirm the spelling of Kilovacs/Killavax and Zaradun/Zarahduun please?

VirtualSkald

Goddamn typo Avantris, I'll wallow in my shame.

Jacky_alltrades

(Rett & Pyke's friend, and Kavir's home planet)

OpalEye 42

How come only Leboosh and Chuckles characters got, well... there's no other way to say it, dumped and completely replaced but the other Rett and Pyke stayed pretty much the same?

TeacupTheBopcaJournalist

Is the previous season important to this new season? Will we see the boss again? did the papers matter? will we ever see the old gang again?

OwlAndy

I'm embarrassed to gm bc of how clunky I am, any advice on how to get better?

Tastydoomtime

Are you going to keep the space demons or is that a spoiler?

Hufflehotty

I know it was just a story Pyke was telling but what happened to maddog

kris

Is most of the worldbuilding in terms of species and locations still real?

DunceMars

Any tips for getting more confident with doing different voices for NPCs?

Notedoesart

So, how is everyone enjoying chats reaction to what's happened so far

Lilysgone

Andy, how was your mani pedi with nikkie while sipping on chat’s tears?

But_is_it_Marinated

Hated Quibly when he first introduced himself, but gotta say, he’s growing on me. He’s kind of a… fun guy

CodingZerp

Were andy's plans to have brunch a cover story or did he actually go have brunch?

Lefty Luci

It sounds like we'll get a month of Wednesday episodes before Witchlight on the 23rd. Are you going all in on Stardust and doing the rest of the Stardust Prelude?

Byrnikins

Hilarious they did a whole catch up video just to go jk it was all a dream. Bravo.

Nicholas Urenha

Loving it so far! Is the return to the name Kaboosh a nod to Upon a Silver Strand being part of this canon? Or just Pyke not remembering the name right?

bulbabum

How exciting was it for you all to brainstorm with Dan on your new subclasses and functionally flesh out everyone?

kris

Mikey, what was the thought process behind having a character who can't speak Common and needing to put your faith into another player to decide what your'e saying? It's so interesting to see a PC who feels truly alien in a way that one never has before on this channel.

Jam

Did u see that I in fact predicted the soft reboot of sdr like 3 weeks ago

Cobalt Bluewaters

Who's idea, when creating the new characters for Stardust, was it to let Derek play a mushroom based character?

Notedoesart

Was Rett ever allowed to visit pyke during his time in prison and how did Rett hear about pyke being alive unless it counts as spoilers, seeing as he wasn't imprisoned but pyke was

Coyote

Heard about Andy's escapades in his vlog vid, anyone else have a wild time at Garycon?

Keelay42

Did Mikey choose this character just so he could do star wars screams?

This Is Nawl

I hope you know that everyone thinks it's a simulation and believes in simulationism

ZandOtherThings

Which DM gets the award for finally killing Chuckles? Mace or Mikey?

This Is Nawl

I forgot to add the question part of what do you think of the theories

awsmemuffin (mudge)

How excited are you all to return to the feywild, and what’s the first thing you want your characters to resolve or what is their priority?

Lefty Luci

Is esper sorcerer a sci-fi re-envisioning of the mystic mind sorcerer?

Sandstar10290

Which do y'all prefer- sweet cream butter or salted butter?

Jam

I can @ you the screenshots Mikey of my predictions

But_is_it_Marinated

Ok so clearly Gluppy can understand common-- is it a species thing, like his vocal cords can't make the sounds? Can Glup speak any other languages?

Ian Raymo

I'm curious but in the hypothetical situation where it was an entirely fresh party with Quibly and Glup where Rett and Pyke couldn't be played for whatever reason. Is there any ideas that come to mind for what would be played?

AuraofOra

If you were to choose any of your characters to be turned into an inspired gown or look, which characters would you choose??

OpalEye 42

How hard was it to can Chuckles when you know how marketable he is?

Jacky_alltrades

Most importantly, how much of Jolly's appearance was exaggerated by Pyke???

LittleRacoonMan

Mostly a question for Mike, buy also for everyone else, how do yall go through world building? I'm trying to create a world for my friends to play in and I'm struggling with making the world feel 'real'

TeacupTheBopcaJournalist

Could you please really quickly repeat the info about the old crew that was in your return monologue?

Lefty Luci

What's the next con you are planning on going to?

sdwa

Quibly calls Glup "Gluppy", does Glup have a nickname for Quibly?

Eve

Would you guys ever consider doing a campaign with a Lord of The Rings flare to it? Like not the actual story of LOTR, but a campaign inspired by that world?

Notedoesart

Mace, will we ever learn what was on the paper, rex gave to leboosh, who then gave them to rett, or is that for now a mystery still

awsmemuffin (mudge)

Getting to know Glup and Quibly; what would their fast food order be?

Echoeypie

Favorite trope in media.

This Is Nawl

Very important question, Alliance or Horde

Jam

I shared the screens of my predictions! Also, were there ever discussion of reimagining chuckles and leboosh or did you decide on scrapping them from the beginning?

InvertedRain

I absolutely adore this new dynamic already! What do you think the hardest and easiest thing is about getting back into this campaign?

Captn_Agate

What is a class you think more people should try

Adron42

With how specifically you've crafted the CM subclasses, do you think it's possible to make a subclass so specific that you -can't- reflavor it to a different campaign setting?

Nac'tahl

If one of your parties had to open a diner, which do you think would make for the most interesting dynamic and what would the diner be called?

AuraofOra

Would it be alright if in the future when I make the gowns since I’m an inspiring designer to @ you all with the final products?

Eric Johansen

any chance chuckles is the big bad this season?

Lord Zancent

For each campaign, how do y’all decide who dm’s? Is it just whoever’s brainchild it is? Also, Bitsy dm when?

Lefty Luci

Some folks were coping by saying Mikey wouldn't play a character that can't speak common for a whole campaign but that's obviously something he would do. But is there a joke character idea that Mikey, or anyone else, has had that just could not be implemented?

SorenSilverblade

In Stardust, do languages like Elven and Dwarven still function as they do in D&D proper? If so, what does it sound like when Pyke speaks Elven or when Rett speaks Dwarven?

Cobalt Bluewaters

Derek would mention that he would have a hard time with Laboosh’s outrageous French accent. Now that he plays a different character, has there been a weight lifted off, depending on how difficult it was, and has it changed anything about how it feels playing the campaign?

kris

How did you decide on the name Stardust Rhapsody for the campaign? What made you go with the music theming? Were there other options that were close to being chosen instead?

Eric Johansen

wendys have girl scout frosty better then mcds

Lefty Luci

Speaking of mint shakes, if y'all have Arby's in Maryland they have a mint chocolate shake that's way better than McDonald's

Eric Johansen

I gifted a membership to my friend and bought a hoodie love you guys

Clone Andy

Can I just say one thing?! Trick love the kids.

Snappy

Mikey mentioned on break that he had a hard time engaging with the story as Chuckles; do you feel like engaging as a character who essentially has someone else speak for them is gonna be challenging or are you not worried at all?

Keelay42

Just a quick thanks to Andy. His fear of prions just helped me answer a clue to the NYT crossword puzzle.

Jam

Did you think Quimbly and Glup would come across as married couple before you were at the table or was this dynamic a surprise?

Kyle Hutchings

Glup has to do the next ad. The sponsor is Rosetta Stone.

Sceli_Boi

Could you please showcase the wicker man figure? I am really exited to start printing my own when Crooked Moon releases.

Sceli_Boi

Derik please showcase the wicker man. I am exited to hear more on Crooked Moon.

kris

Given that the party all have Avantris-original subclasses now, are you planning on doing the same thing for Witchlight when it returns? I know you guys have mentioned Torbek’s class changing to a Path of the Experiment barbarian in the past.

OpalEye 42

If you backed the kickstarter or preordered on backerkit and your order has been locked down, you should already have the STLs for the bosses and their minions

Sceli_Boi

Just saw that the next session in on my birthday, April 19th

Vero

are you guys excited to bring back OUAW

Sceli_Boi

Are y’all sad that the old crew had to vanish?

Notedoesart

Would any of the plots from epsiodes 1-14 be revisited or have new life brought to them if the new crew visited these places again

OpalEye 42

If you could register your own personal heraldic arms, what would you have on it?

Pidge Platinum

How’s it feeling to have played the first two episodes of season two?

Dawktor

Assuming Quibly and Glub are sticking around will the patreons get the updated d&d beyond sheets? (Including maybe new rett and pyke sheet)

Michealwithana

I think my question may have disappeared or you answered it when I was away but I got reminded of what it was with the story about the name Stardust Rhapsody. Did you have a specific song in mind when creating your characters? Or a specific genre of music?

Kendall

As an actor that learned to embody characters through both voice and physicality... I see y'all do it too and wonder how you guys land on certain things to emphasize when portraying a character. Do you make purposeful choices or do certain movements and body language come more in the moment? I think it is so cool how yall feel and LOOK like different characters each time you sit down to play...

Sblibbo

What font(s) did you end up settling on for the overlay with the new SDR season?

Kyle Hutchings

There is the possibility that Glup can communicate telepathically, and Quibly only thinks he understands Nematoan because it's transmitted into his brain in common.

Sceli_Boi

The double cross was amazing.

Kendall

this comment aged beautifully with the double cross lmfaooooo

OpalEye 42

Well. Done. You pack of............................ geniuses! Can you sign a certificate excusing me from work tomorrow so I can emotionally recover from today? /j

Cobalt Bluewaters

Question for Mikey. I know you were upset that you couldn't participate in the Prelude episode. Was this, sort of a way that you could participate in that from your villain arch?

TeacupTheBopcaJournalist

First question: WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED?!?! and Second question: what are Derek and Mikey going to play next time?

Tastydoomtime

I'm gonna love when something horrible happens and it causes pyke to go super solar like goku against freezer

OpalEye 42

Apart from the two evil geniuses (Mace and Mike), who out of the rest of you knew about the ending of this?

Echos_in_the_Dark

Not a question just a comment. Just wanted to give you all high praise for tonight. This was absolutely a brilliant work of art, start to finish. Hands down one of the best things I’ve had the privilege to experience. Well done! Thank you so much for this amazing ride! A complete master class.

MadMK

no question! just wanted to say you guys are awesome and today is some of the most fun dnd i have ever had the pleasure of watching, even if it was sort of heartbreaking at some points lol

Jacky_alltrades

So did all of you know about all the twists tonight?? Who was the most in/out of the loop lol

Echoeypie

Question for Mace. Where did you get the Taylor Moon Tshirt?

OpalEye 42

Does Ziggy play guitar? I need to know if Ziggy played guitar?

Eric Johansen

is rett tank of party? what kind of flavor are you going to do for your spells derek?

InvertedRain

I absolutely Loved this stream and it was done masterfully. What is something different about Pyke and Rett this season yall are willing to share?

Jacky_alltrades

Did everything go according to plan tonight? Anything not turn out how you expected? It seemed pretty flawless to me but I'm curious!

TK

The fact you guys hyped up each other and each other's characters even throughout the dinner break was WILD, and then having the handshake and "welcome to the crew" meer minutes before the betrayal?? Made it all the more shocking, fantastic stream!

Kyle Hutchings

Title suggestions. Season 2 ep 1: Status Quo ep 2: Trust Fall

Kyle Hutchings

The self-control it took not to name a mushroom-headed Tracer Dick Tracy. Such Bravery.

Eric Johansen

just wondering who is going to leead the fight. mayb mikey goes fighter ?

Ashley

You don't have to say mine aloud, it's not really a question, just an observation and a thank you. I'm not sure anyone's mentioned it yet, but I love the new opening credits, even with a majority of the characters not present in this arc you still show them reminds me of what Laughing Bull from Cowboy Bebop said: "Do not fear Death. Death is always at our side. When we show fear, it jumps at us faster than light--but if we do not show fear, it casts its eye upon us gently and then guides us into infinity." I know the characters are not dead, just the the last bit gives the vibe of 'it casts its eye upon us gently and then guides us into infinity' as they fade to black, giving them that nod or/and the chance to maybe return in the future. Well... except for Quibly and Glup they went out like stir fry. (Also thank you for this campaign as well as the others. I was saving this one for last for personal reasons, but it's helping replace old memories with happy ones and rekindle my love for space scifi as I go through my divorce. So thank you guys so much for so many laughs and the adventures I've needed so much this past year)

Dawktor

Would you guys share the dnd sheets? For the new crew or is thag gonna be a close to the chest thing.

Lefty Luci

I'm sad the old campaign doesn't get to be fully wrapped up and I dearly miss Dandy/Caaey and Kavir/Arya but I'm also super happy that it happened and I am 110% on board with the soft reboot and I cannot wait for the next session! SDR is still my favorite (and first) Avantris campaign

Bread

Not a question but I just hope you guys are still having fun and enjoying yourself and not seeing this as a job that you don't look forward to.

Jacky_alltrades

So, is it spelled 'Hack-Saur' or 'H4XX0R'?

RoombaCop

If you could play one of your own characters in a different campaign, who would it be and what campaign would they be put in?
