So, Faction menus and saving are done. Before coding in the actual tag entrances, a few things need to be done. This past week, I've coded entrance lights, stage and ring pyro for single entrances and added the options to the move lists in SDM. I still need to figure out the proper way to code the stage taunt pyro, I'm confident we'll get there. Movesets are all whacky because of the bit compression change, I need to convert movesets to the new format before entrances to clear any bugs they might currently cause.I'm currently setting up the fighting style screen with a few new options. Run Style, Grapple Style and Rope Bounce. Each will have about 3 or 4 options that change the player's animation for each category. Run Styles:NormalSuper Heavyweight (new)WomenGrapple Styles: (only effects strong grapple)NormalHeavyweight (new, a slower weak grapple)Shoot (new, a blend of MMA grapple from VPW2 and the strong grapple)Rope Bounces: (hitting the ropes, whipped into)NormalNormal 2 (new, an updated version)Old School (new, hits on side, like Hogan, Jarrett)Lightweight (new, flat back, women or cruiserweight style)After this, I need to add the new stances. I want to include all fighting stances from each AKI 64 game and some new ones. After that, I can set up a few movesets and code in tag entrances. What's left before the NM+V3 release?MovesetsMoves (a bunch more)Menu editsTag EntrancesActivate new move slots and stylesShop screen (change locked items to be new features)Possibly a single story to unlock the new characters? We'll see,V4 is planned to be mostly new match options and arenas. Add last man standing to TKO option, a 5 count added to pinfall options, HIAC.

Had no idea so much is going into V3 dude, sounds awesome. Especially the little things like different rope animations for whipped into etc. Can't wait (but obviously will)

Twofactor23

This is gonna be incredible. Thank you for the update!

Awesome work. Never knew so much would be possible. Will the final ROM keep compatibility with the existing tools that are out there (spreadsheets etc) to make editing movesets easier before they're copied into VPW Studio, or will new tooling be required?

Considering those new nuance changes, and as per usual, this suggestion would likely need an overhauling effort &/or changes NM canon, but... I never liked the faint/seizure KO sell animation! So, strike-specific KO animations would be nice. A right arm/leg ko strike should result in P2's head turning to their right, ex. the weak grapple-"elbow strike" sell. & then simply mirrored to the left for left arm/leg ko strikes. & for uppercut style and all other strikes, the weak grapple-"jumping front kick" sell (P2's head moves up & back) ...or a variant of that for all ko's, simply replacing the aforementioned entirely. ANYBODY with me?

They’re completely different from existing tools. I plan on releasing custom spreadsheets for this game. Aside from that you won’t need them really, I’ve coded in a RAM pointer to the current loaded moveset in SDM. So you could just edit, copy, paste to a new file.

Retro Randy Price

These are great ideas. But like you said an entire project on its own. We’re talking about tons of new sells and the need to code in for hundreds of strikes. Possibly something I can try eventually but not any time soon.

The scope of this continues to astound me. So many of the ideas I've thought about over the last quarter century coming to life, and then you'll come up with some crazy ideas I never would have dreamed of, let alone thought possible. Simply amazing. For the improved customized entrances is their any chance down the road to have a full entrance preview replace the existing song/tron preview. With the extra options would be useful and save time over needing to back out and go through starting up a match. In line with your mentioned further wrestler customization, would it be possible down the road to have special mode "no-sell" options beyond the standard smack mat and get up? I may be going crazy but I seem to recall (at least) VPW64 having a kip up for many of the Jr heavyweights which could obviously be used by a few in No Mercy (and Shawn Michaels). Other options would be a sit up for Undertaker and Kane and a spinaroonie

The special get up options you listed are all in. Besides the no sell. The full entrance preview isn’t likely. This is just due to it taking up an immense amount of space. None of the entrance data is accessible in SDM. I could write it somewhere but we wouldn’t have enough room.

Hungry

Always a few steps ahead. Without needing to spoil anything specific are there any more special get up options planned outside of the ones I mentioned? Thanks for the explanation on entrance previews, makes sense and definitely not something to use up space on

Something I just thought of for V4: in addition to new arenas, would it be possible for new backstage areas or perhaps a mod of the existing ones somehow? Seems really hard to do, but it just popped into my head when reading your list once again.

Retro Randy Price

Just the four. Pound, Sit-up, Kip up and spinarooni. I think 4 is the most that slot can have. I did think of a supernatural one, just floats up and into their feet lol. But like I mentioned, I don’t think there’s room.

Nick

Dang. What are you saving for Backlash?

Frank Jaeger

Yeah, glad you agree though. & It's enough just to replace one (for all) imo - so something like the "jumping front kick" sell replaces the seizure-KO-sell. That's gotta be easier, no? But of course, others may like it as is

JB

Wow. Incredible plans! The grapple style and rope bounce adds weren’t even on my bucket list. But they should have been! Awesome!!

JB

Also, great conversation from the group. I see I’m not the only one interested in customizing the sells. So customizing the sells on individual moves is probably a pretty big undertaking but how about just some sell selections for strikes and running strikes at the move slot level? Examples for running attack: Weak B = Turn inside out Weak A+B = Spear sell Strong B = Kitchen Sink sell Strong A+B = Flip backwards Right now, I’m running sell mods that allows me to have the spear in two different spots but with different sells and fix the sells of others.

Backstage areas, the 2001 roster and theme, storylines. Other features I’m sure I’ll think up when the time comes. Remember NM+ is meant to be a base for other projects so I’d like it to be far ahead in many areas.

Retro Randy Price

Backstage areas should be no harder than new stage areas. It’s very doable. I’ll likely save this for other projects though. We’ll see.

Twofactor23

Gotcha. Sounds dope. Maybe a WWF NY/WWF Times Square would be cool. Something outdoors since the others aren't.

Nick

Cool. Sounds awesome

A thought for unlocking some of the new characters, would it be possible to "split" characters who can be currently unlocked in multiple ways? IE Cactus Jack could continue to be unlocked via the Hardcore Championship but Dude Love could replace him in survival? Deadman Undertaker could replace Andre in the Heavyweight Championship mode as the ultimate boss while Andre stays perfectly as the final boss of survival. You could have Funaki be unlocked by qualifying for the Royal Rumble in WWF Championship mode to reference the Kai En Tai Rumble saga of 2000 and have him replace Taka as the opponent

Retro Randy Price

Great ideas! I was thinking of making a new story that includes all the new characters and unlocks them. This might take some time though so I’m not 100%. At time point I’ll add earning money to exhibition matches vs cpu.

Hungry

Amazing if you could, see how you're looking when the other stuff is complete. Do you currently envision it playing out in a more story focused/linear manner like the GBC mode?
