Hello everyone \o/

May is here in case the rain didn't tell you that (in the UK at least!). Listen to the audio clip above & then return here to read the ideas for Patreon - I want your feedback! :-)

So to the ideas: I want to add more value to Patreon for you. I understand that there are Patrons that are just happy to support & get nothing in return apart from my sweet sweet videos, for that I thank you - but I would still like to offer MORE! Because I have MORE! to give :-)

So what do you think?

1) New Patron shoutouts at the end of videos. I have put this one off for too long. The reason is, with over 200 Patrons I don't want to leave long running patrons off my "New Patron" shoutouts, but reading 200 names might get a tad loooong.

Possible solution: Have a week where I show all 200 names in the end credits, then after that shout out new Patrons? Sound good?

2) I want to set up a Google Doc that Patrons have access to where I keep notes on upcoming games, my ideas for videos on those games etc etc. You can dive in, leave notes yourself on what you want to see, give me feedback on games etc. This will enable you, my lovely Patrons, to be more actively involved if you so wish :-)

3) I wish to give something back to you all. Over the past 6-ish years of doing YouTube I have picked up a LOT of tips n tricks on running a channel, running a small business, good SEO, video editing, thumbnail creation etc etc and that knowledge could be yours.

I would like to set up a Patron level where this knowledge is regularly shared in audio clips, posts, pictures etc for you to learn from and grow your own channels. These would likely be a weekly post with a follow up on your comments & questions afterwards to personally help you too,

At what Patron level do you think this would be fair to offer this valuable, golden knowledge of infinite wisdom? Be honest below, I welcome your feedback.

In Conclusion:

I really appreciate your time & feedback. Our Patreon community has been growing well the past month of April & I want to help you in return.

Thanks for your time reading the above. I'll see you in the comments

- Biffa :-)

Love the ideas! Maybe 50 dollars and up for the Youtube channel training? Also, if you take like your highest paying 5 patrons or so and list them as "assistant producers" in the beginning of each video, I would imagine people would flock to raise their patronage level to see their name on screen at the beginning. Maybe 75 and up or something. I don't know, love the content as always!

In California "April showers bring May flowers" so our rains are gone and it's 90F out here already! lol

Hi Biffa! I'm happy to support in what little way I can. Your videos have kept me company over the past year while I recover from surgery. I love your quirky sense of humor, and really enjoy watching you play. I've even picked up some UK slang which helps on my calls with my British co-workers. That alone is worth it to me. A shout out would be nice, but not necessary. I view it as paying my YouTube bill so that I can keep getting the videos I enjoy. In fact, I'm about to have a nice cuppa coffee and catch up on Cities: Skylines just now. Cheers to you and yours!

Hi Biffa! I'll probably have more to say about this at some point, but I would defintely be interested in your knowledge about SEO and running a small business. Not sure where that would fall on the supporter level. I will say that I am not interested in Minecraft, so that kept me from upping my support to $10(US) per month. If there was a level around that price range that included some knowledge each week or something (maybe $12-15) along with other perks maybe, I would be interested in that. Also, A suggestion in regards to shoutouts: Perhaps you could do shoutouts for 10 different supporters in each video over a week or two. that would spread out the number of shoutouts, and then you could switch to new supporters after. Thanks for all the great videos!!

Oooh, I like the ideas, thanks for sharing :-)

Biffa Plays

Thank you. I hope your recovery is going well and you're feeling bostin' < another English slang word you can use ;-)

Biffa Plays

Great ideas thank you & you're very welcome :-)

Do you mean showing all 200 names after each video for a week or like if you do 5 videos/week show 20 names after each video? But anyhow I like that idea regardless how you display it. Not to steal another YouTubeers idea, but Iskall always thanks a Patrion in the end of each of his videos. I like that.

Paragraph8

If there would be a 10 to 15$ tier that offers the SEO etc knowledge I would gladly up my pledge :-)

Yes it'll likely be a few every episode for a week, then after that new ones as they appear 👍

Hello! (brainwipe here). I'm on $10 and am likely to stay there. I like that you use the Patreon names for things in-game. I like the idea of the Google Doc notes. Not bothered about my name appearing at the end of a vid, I think it's cool but I usually hit the next button before that bit! As for your SEO idea - I think lots of people would enjoy that. I'd love to youtube but sadly don't have the time just now. I also like these little voice update jobbies. You could make them semi-personal "I saw Infinity War, it was great" or "Really excited about up-and-coming-game-X" or "Wretched gfx card crashed my computer" etc. A bit like a spoken discord roundup.

Biffa Plays

Nice ideas thanks. I've been thinking about how I can use the voice stuff more :-)

Takaya213

Hey hey! I am with Rob Lang aka brainwipe :) Also love the Patreon naming of characters in game as well as the Google doc. Also love the voice notes, but for some reason mine play extremely loudly and I can't change the volume on them except physically changing my PC volume, but anyhoo, not a train smash, still love them. :) I am also not worried about my name appearing at the end of a vid, it tends to be like credits at the end of a movie, most people skip them unless there is a teaser at the end, but then again most will then fast forward. Just an idea, why not also setup e.g. Couchbot for Discord to your Youtube account so that whenever you publish a video it automatically mentions it in the channel so that you don't have to. Just a thought. It would be interesting to find out how you have managed the SEO side of things on Youtube as well as e.g. what programs you use to edit your videos or even record them. Anyways that is my 2 cents worth, keep up the awesome work, love the vids! And so pleased Stardew Valley has made a come back, that is how I originally found your channel. :) FYI, if you need anything website related, I am willing to help, as I am a Front-end Developer and Designer by trade.

Thanks for the ideas, I'll check out that discord add-on 👍 I have a URL and tried to set up a simple wordpress site a while back, might have to dig that out again! 😀

Vote for the Google doc thing.

You already do something for us, Biffa. You make great, entertaining, videos. No need for anything else.

I'm happy to have the videos and support your efforts to give me good, family-oriented entertainment daily. Having said that, the Google doc idea is a good one and would be used by many of your Patrons. I think the (#3) knowledge should be for Patrons above at least the $10 level. Your knowledge is worth a lot and if a Patron is interested in learning how to set up and run a channel, $10 is cheap. As for the shout-outs, I've never needed or wanted that kind of recognition but I know that others do. Maybe instead of saying the names, you could have a running list at the end of your videos and only say the names of new Patrons each week. Whatever you decide is fine with me.

June Vollans

You mentioned in one of your videos that new Patrons have a form to complete. I can't remember a form but am hoping that you will use my YouTube name (Ebba Lytle) and not my real name in any public YouTube or Google places. Thanks!

ExcalibursZone

Hey, Biffa. I'll address them by the numbers: 1) I think that's a great idea. You can always do new patrons afterwards and give verbal thanks, or you could say something along the lines of "Thanks to my new patrons you see on the screen! And a special thanks to <insert long-time="" patrons="" random=""> for your continued support!" That would allow for you to get through everyone and give verbal thanks over time. 2) The Google Docs idea is cool. You may want to set up Google Forms instead and allow people to read through your ideas then give some prompted questions, multiple choice options, and finally a text box for ideas you hadn't touched on. Then those can be stored in a Google Sheets document for you to peruse at any time. This allows for a bit more control and will hide any possible abuse of the system from other patrons. 3) I miss the Tea Time with Biffa series you did back in the day. While you don't have to use Minecraft to convey the message, it may be a fun idea to find some simple VR game that simulates a living room or something and reimagine the series as if you're talking to everyone from your living room. You can talk about stuff like the Adpocalypse, demonitization, trouble comments, etc. I think it would be fun to do some server-based game stuff with patrons from time to time, perhaps through Tabletop Simulator, cooperative games, or other ways to hang with your patrons. You could record them and allow your guests to record as well. Perhaps even conduct informal interviews of the players at the "table" while you play the game to pimp your patrons as well. I don't think your channel has to be all about Minecraft or Indie games, but you could expand a little bit if you're interested in card games, board games, or other coops like the hunt for Bigfoot game or the like. Of course, the patrons you invite to the table would have to be on their best behavior and you can edit out anything that goes sideways (or not publish the videos at all). Just ideas. You're doing pretty well without my input, though :) I do have to figure out SEO and junk to try and grow more as well, so I'm looking forward to any Tea Time-style videos or content.</insert>

I like when you say "Hi Guys and Gals!" my boys say it to each other when they are playing. My oldest loves your Cities Skylines videos! Keep doing it, Keep singing randomly! Keep the British slang going.

Killmouseky

Shout outs are a great idea. Streamers do them all the time. Btw have you thought about getting into streaming? You’re voice and personality would be perfect for it.

Biffa Plays

I've added that to the sheet for you :-)

Biffa Plays

Nice idea about TableTop Sim, if there was a free, easily available similar thing that would be available to all Patrons we could certainly do something like that. Thanks for the feedback :-)

Biffa Plays

I did do some regular streaming, but to make ends meet I need to concentrate on YT, Twitch is a whole 'nother full time job if you want it to be successful. Thanks for the feedback :-)

Check out boardgamearena.com. Free accounts that let you play a lot of boardgames in your browser.

I like how you name districts for supporters. You could name other things, too, like highways and bridges. Currently, about mid-way through each video you do a little Patreon blurb about how much it helps to have supporters... you could just add a shout out to a few supporters during that. It's a little more personal than a scrolling list and would just add a few seconds to what you're already doing. When the update comes out with Park Life with the new cinematic camera thingee, you could even set up a mini-tour to play during the shout out. I like watching the city like that sometimes and I've heard you say before that you like that, too. (Edited because it was a freaking essay and you don't need instructions)

MikaH

I have been your supporter since second month you started Patreon, but some months ago I really considered stopping the Patreon support. The main reason was that our taste of games don't match and I have recently really watched only few of your videos, mainly Cities Skylines. Mostly I watch vanilla Minecraft, but other games works too. I considered moving to some other Minecraft server, but I like that Biffacraft is a small server and you don't disappear in to the mass. I know you don't like playing vanilla Minecraft or maybe even modded anymore, but I liked when you toured the server in past seasons. So the thing I'd like to see in your channel is that you could start touring the server again when it restarts when 1.13 comes out, even if you don't want to play there. The thing why I like playing in the multiplayer server if that other people can see what I'm building, I don't play single player. I have a lot of plans for the next season and would like to share them with everyone. My feedback may have been slightly sadder that you asked, but still... this is what is in my mind right now.

Biffa Plays

I like that idea for Park Life. Thanks for the suggestions :-)

I'm happy to hear all feedback, so no problem :-)
