Hi all!

There is a lot of advice about YouTube on YouTube (YouTubeception?) and all over Google, but  not much of it is personalized for YOU.

I have 5 1/2  years Experience on YouTube, have a channel with over 116,000 Subscribers and have completed a 10 week course with a Certified YouTube Growth Expert, who has himself over 10 years YouTube Experience.

I felt when I did my YouTube mini series "Tea Time" a couple of years back (which included a segment offering YouTube advice & tips to newer channels) that it was only the tip of the iceberg of what I could offer to people.

This experience and knowledge coupled with my people skills should be a winning combination...even if I say so myself :P

So the question is - what format would this "training" / "skill sharing" / "channel help" take?

Idea: It will definitely be a limited signup Patron tier each month. So for instance, there would be space for 4 people to sign up to the "YouTube Help" tier each month and they would receive the help/training/personalized help that is decided for that month. At the end of the month the 4 slots are opened again and you can re-sign up for more help or other people can sign up.

What will it include? Here are some ideas of what I could include:

1) A comprehensive channel review. As part of the 10 week YouTube course I took we each had to review every group members channel (20 people) as well as study in depth many top YouTube channels every week (50+ in total easily). These detailed channel studies included things such as how the channel page setup, is it easy to use, can I tell what the channel is about, can I easily see what your target audience is when watching your videos, can I easily see the value in your videos to me as a viewer. We covered video posting schedule, channel & video branding, video style, ways to hook a viewer and keep them, CTA's, video length, SEO - the list goes on and on!

On it's own, this comprehensive channel review was a gold-mine of excellent information that made me look at my YouTube Channel page and my video creation in a very different and more positive way.

2) A Skype call at the start of the month to discuss your channel, what you specifically need help with, where you would like to take your channel and what we can focus on for the month. Then another Skype call at the end of the month to re-evaluate what you changed or improved over the month and any other advice or help I can give. I would also set up a personal Discord chat room too just for those in the course that month, where you can ask me or other members questions, receive help, share tips and bounce ideas off each other.

3) Technical help. After 5 1/2 years on YouTube I have become pretty efficient in scheduling my time, recording, editing & rendering videos, making eye catching thumbnails  and audio capture & improvement. If there is something on the technical side you need assistance with, I'm sure we can work on it together and help you to improve.

4) As I mentioned, the 10 week course was STUFFED FULL of advice, training, tips...the list goes on. So much valuable information that I am still re-reading all the notes and websites I gathered over the course. I would love to help you improve on whichever subjects you feel you need help with: Branding, your YouTube Channel's Experience, Video SEO, Collaborations, Video Engagement, using YouTube Analytics to improve your channel, making Money with your channel & more.

5) Price. This is a tough one as it's hard to put an hourly rate on my time and it's even harder to put a value on the experience I can share and the knowledge & training I can give you. I would want to set the price at a point where I know you are serious to join this group for a month. I want to know that YOU are willing to put in the time and effort to  improve your channel. I want you to have result and you need to work to get them! The training would be tailored for you after studying your channel & videos so I would make sure it's excellent value & worth the time, money & effort you put forward too.

Conclusion.

I KNOW I have a lot of knowledge and experience to share with you and I want to help new and old channels to grow and improve on YouTube.

Let me know what you think below - PLEASE BE SPECIFIC!! What would interest YOU, what sort of help would YOU need, what other assistance do you think I could offer to YOU?

Thanks for taking the time to read this post. If this is something you are interested in, if you have ideas or just want to let me know what you think, please do below.

I want to make this work, but I need your help & advice. I'm pretty excited to get this going as I love helping people.

Thank you all too for your continued support on Patreon, it means so much.

I think this is a great idea, and I would definitely be interested. The areas I would like covered are growth/exposure, editing and video capture software, page/video layouts and a general critique of my videos. I not concerned about the price, I would just need to know so I could budget for it. The small group is a great idea. Would you be open to repeat students once everyone has had a chance to take the course?

Leasara

I love the idea, and would probably jump at the chance. My biggest problem is time management, so learning about how you schedule your time would be really helpful, and the Discord channel sounds awesome. I'd recommend two channels though, one for the class and one for alumni.

calog3no

Grest suggestions Leasara I really like the 2 channel idea also.

Thanks for the feedback. You'll love the channel review as it covers so much & things you'd never even think of! I would be happy if people wanted to sign up again after others have had a chance. We could cover other topics, or go into more depth on topics we've already discussed. Exciting stuff!! :-)

Great to hear! Excellent idea on two channels, they did a similar thing with the course I took and discussions with those that had passed the course was invaluable. :-)

Eventually, my Puter is exceptionally basic and will not render nor play HD games. One of these days i will bug you about it.

Great idea, I'd be very interested in learning how to rebrand my channel and require a lot of advice on editing and recording tips also as I mainly stream currently, due to my disastrous editing skills.

Leasara

I got all my editing know-how from lynda.com tutorials. They. Are. Awesome.

Definitely yes. For instance, the other members of the 10 week training course group included only one other gamer, the rest were daily vloggers, writers, musicians, interviewers, pretty much anything you could think of. The list of the types of training & info mentioned in the above post apply to ALL types of videos, gaming or not. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask :-)

I rebranded just before the 10 week training and then after what I'd learned I worked on it some more. But as for editing & recording, I can certainly help with that :-)

I definitely love the idea! Though sadly, I can't open my channel until September or October of this year, so I don't think this will be much help until then... but still, it couldn't hurt to get more tips, advice, and suggestions! I've been spending the last two months researching and practicing as much as possible, but you can never have enough help. ^.^ As for specifics, I haven't a clue! I mean, reaching as many people as I can I suppose is my first and foremost goal... I guess it'd be a thing about I'd want to sit down and talk about it first. Again, this won't be until later though, unless you have time or advice for someone who can't start their channel just yet. =3

Hi, I totally understand where you're coming from. There was a TON of info that would be good to have in mind before you start your channel, so you get off on the right foot. So if you wanted to I would recommend doing this just before you actually start publishing videos. That way your channel starts of right, and doesn't have to be changed and tweaked further down the line. The course that I've spoken about doing had a few members that hadn't actually started their channels yet and they loved it. Hitting the ground running is the best way I can think of putting it! I could certainly work with you during the month you chose to do the course to set up and work on your first video or two behind the scenes, branding would be very important for you too, knowing how to hook people in a video, use End Cards the best way, so much to get ready for a channel launch :-)

Little Lyla

Well, I'm limited in money to be completely honest... but I don't lack any motivation at all. I've actually already done practice videos, editing, thumbnails, research, listening to other Youtubers talk about it, looking at channels, getting permission for certain games... so I've done a lot. This is a huge passion for me - I could talk about Youtube for literal hours, haha. Anyways... let me know the details when / if it becomes available. ^.^

Aw poor Peruvian Monks! Action needs to be taken! Sounds like a plan (goes off to brush up on his Spanish) :-)

One of the reasons I asked you on Twitter for an opinion is that I value the opinion of one who is fairly successful. I'd appreciate that, and the course you're putting forth, but it depends on how much you're wanting to charge for it. Personally, I do this as a hobby, and I try to keep up with it. I'd love it to be more than that, but realistically I know it probably won't ever be more than that: a hobby. So for me, to spend money on a course, I dunno how much I'd be willing to spend, considering I have issues putting together a couple videos a week, when my job demands my attention 24/7. :/ If your info is reasonable, I might consider. But if you want too much, I'll politely pass.

Remuko

Think I already said this: but I really would be interested for this. I would love to get my channel reviewed ( we already had several chats about this ) and I mostly would like to learn how to get a more engaging concept going. Maybe a bit more branding ( catchphrases, but thats something I need to get myself on =P ). Also maybe some editing tips and tricks here and there =)

Biffa Plays

I totally understand that. I'm not set on a price yet as it will be based on many things inc what my time is worth helping & training people, what the knowledge I have is worth that I am passing onto people. It won't be "too much", but it may be more than you are wiling to pay - there's a difference! But for someone who does YouTube as a hobby then it may not be the sort of thing you wish to spend your time & money on, which is up to you to decide of course. But for others that are either already full-time or wish to push their channels & videos up a level, that's a different thing. To them (as it was to me when I paid for the course I took) it would be viewed as an investment in their channel :-)
