Hi all o/

This week I've been thinking about milestones: what they are, how they can be motivating for us and how sharing them can help others too!

A milestone can be a target we've reached as we move forward in a project, in life, at work or a big event in your life or in any endeavor really.

Most of us here are YouTubers, or watch a lot of YouTube. Milestones feature heavily on YouTube: view targets we may set for ourselves, subscriber milestones and all that sort of fun stuff. Being too hung up on figures can weigh you down for sure, but having a cool milestone and hitting it can really make you feel great. Sharing  a cool milestone we've hit can also make others around us feel great too.

A couple of milestones I look back on in my YouTube career include:

- The first time someone cared enough about one of my videos to comment "first" on it. A lot of people get all bent out of shape when people post that. I love it. Really reminds me of where it all started. The person who first yelled "FIRST"!

- Of course hitting 100k subs is amazing, but that feeling when you hit 100, or 1000 is just as big. Back then YouTube was all done sporadically in my spare time and thinking that 100 or even a THOUSAND people wanted to watch me was mind blowing!

- Starting a successful Patreon was a HUGE milestone for me too. I mention it a lot, but it's only because of you guys n girls that support me financially here that I can do this fantastic job <3

Outside of work there are of course many, many milestones: getting married, having two lovely boys, building my home office which has changed the way I work immensely. So so many.

Please share with us below in the comments any milestones you have had recently or ones that you are particularly proud of. I would love to hear them and by sharing we can help to motivate and boost others too.

- Biffa :-)

HIYU

That's lovely! I guess I'll share what's happened recently to me :) In the last week I changed from being an intern at a game studio to being a full time 3D artist. It's huge for me because I've been working for this since I was 14, and on top of it, I finally have a real (legit) apartment in Stockholm now - so no more worrying about job or home. The next year's going to be awesome ^_^

That's fantastic, well done and congratulations! Exciting times ahead :-)

Most recently I hit 100 subscribers on YouTube with the BiffaTech promo video, which was a goal for me to get a custom URL. The most life-changing milestones for me have come from being transgendered. There were half a dozen milestones in my transition, and each seemed more amazing than the last, but by far the best was getting married. Then buying our first house, which I'm still looking forward to renovating. Finally, there was my first grown-up car where all the windows worked and I didn't have to top off the oil and brake fluid every weekend and cross my fingers when I turned the ignition.

A few weeks ago I hit 600 subscribers on YouTube and am closing in now on 700. I consider my next real milestone to be 1,000. As you mentioned in your post I too have had my first "first" encounter as well which was exciting for me. I am just amazed at the growth that I have experienced not only as an "entertainer" but also personally since I started my channel two and a half years ago. I have become more outgoing which is huge for me as I am incredibly introverted.

100 subs is fantastic and it will only keep on growing from there! Keep it up :-)

Growth as an entertainer is something that comes with practice, like you've seen. Being able to see what we need to improve on and doing it really helps you grow your channel. Congrats on 700 and then 1000! Excellent work :-)

Hey, Biffa. I'm sorry I haven't supported in a while. I have limited funds so I move from creator to creator supporting people as best I can when I can.

Hey, Biffa. I'm sorry I haven't supported in a while. I have limited funds so I move from creator to creator supporting people as best I can when I can. As far as milestones go, in my YouTube "career", when I hit 100 subs, I was pretty happy. The first "hate" comment happened well before that though, so I can scrub that off the YouTube creator's bucket list. But this one is more of a revelation: I came to the realization that LPs weren't for me, it was live video. I've recorded a few games of Magic and Force of Will and those have gotten me 500+ views consistently. THAT is a huge thing for someone with a low sub count like me. My unboxings seem to be doing far better than my LPs as well. I'm still going to do LPs, but my focus has changed to recording live matches, unboxings, and soon recumbent trike rides. I'll be heading back your way again soon since I'm shifting patreon funding around again. And good luck! I'm glad things are working out for you :)

I joined Biffacraft and was pleased that people liked my newb builds. I also got my first real job and got married.

i dont have much for milestones but i have a few that dont seem like much but with my life they are pretty big. As some of you know I have a daughter who come Nov 8th will be 2 years old, she is also disabled with a birth defect optic nerve hypoplasia or ONH. meaning her opic nerves didnt develop enough. the cause is unknown. She is my only big milestone. i was only able to be a father for 6 months in total. I havent seen her for 5 months and the last time i saw her help was needed to have her let go of me as she cried for me. Before i am asked at this time there is no chance of me seeing her again even after the age of 18, as far as why is harder to explain. i treasure every video and memory i have of her. That being said i have minor milestones such as im now the base for a newer training program for my job, i hit 25 subs on youtube and am also looking to going to college to soon to fix some parts of my life i have messed up on.

Loki

milestones i have for atm is going thru college and getting a better paying job, build my own computer, start a side fun for my daughter incase i do see her again, and grow my youtube channel which my next milestone for is 50 subs, then 75 then 100 if i make it that far then ill make new ones but for now small steps!

Some excellent goals to aim for - I wish you all the best :-)

My recent milestone must be that I have been started to work again after being home on sick leave for over 8 month. I have been home due to I was burnt-out from work and my situation at home. Now I'm back to work for 50% and still dead tired every day I come home, but it's getting better and better. That of course mean less time to play on BiffaCraft, but that's something I have to accept. The time I was home, during almost the complete time on S03 did help me a lot to recover and shift focus away from my problem. Mining was almost meditation for me, hence I ended up with a double chest with diamond stacks. So I'm very glad that I joined the BiffaCraft server when I did. I have had an awesome time here and I hope I will have plenty more to come.

That's fantastic, well done. There are certain parts of my old personal Minecraft world (the one I used to make a single player series on) that bring back vivid memories of dealing with personal problems. Mining the evening away to take my mind off things. I'm glad BiffaCraft was a place like that for you too :-)

My Biggest milestone would be getting my dream job in a highly respected and awarded hotel after loosing my last job at the start of the summer. I might not have as much gaming time now but i have started a career path for the first time after working in dead end jobs since I left school. The next goal i have set myself is to complete University this year and get my degree. ~ Raven :D

My most recent milestone is getting into art studies more and more, I take an advanced art class in the morning and art history in the afternoon, and including independent studies with the teacher or home. I think I'm going down the right path for doing something I love, starting these studies at 14, I hope to prepare for life stuff

Milestones for me really are having my children and getting married. I got married this year several years after having my two gorgeous girls. I love my life right now :)

my goals (short term) are to finish my wretched melon farm ;)

My hubby and I were on the road for three years, living in a SMALL motorhome mostly in various parking lots. I began to loom knit to keep myself from going crazy. I ended up with a huge amount of toques (hats or beanies to most people, except Canadians), scarves, mittens, even some slippers. I'd given as much as I could to family and had loads left. This last week I finally found a place for all of them. There is an organization in Lethbridge, Alberta that helps the homeless... really helps them in many ways, not just by giving them clothes or selling them off to pay for some CEO and his staff. I felt good about that for many reasons, mostly because I now have somewhere to give my loom knitting to that is helpful to many. In retirement it is important to feel like you are still useful in some way. This is my way. :)
