I've been looking for a way to change up my distribution method to combat piracy and Patreon-scrapers for a while now.

My stance on piracy has always been that piracy is inevitable and that many efforts to combat it are detrimental to patrons. However, I think there's a method that causes minimal change to your experience while still being effective at combating scrapers. It's the same thing that my friend Squarepeg3D does for his patrons.

Simultaneously, I want to stop doing this double-posting 2k and 4k thing that I've been doing for a while now.

How it will work:

I will make a single post for each release that has a cropped image (as a preview) and simply links to a post that contains the Mega.nz archive (kind of like the currently pinned archive). Since my archives are date-organized it should be easy to navigate to the most recent release. The archive link will rotate monthly or possibly even more frequently.

Why Mega instead of a different host? Because I like their sync functionality and other hosts have anti-porn policies (including GDrive). Their prices are alright too.

What this means for you:

Every time I release, you will have to click about... 5 more times. Any downloads will be handled by Mega.nz's servers rather than Patreon.

Mega.nz does impose a 5gb per-day download limit (on you guys). But this should only be a problem if you're downloading the entire archive at once rather than just a single release.

That's it! Feel free to comment if you have any input!

I definitely agree with you on that idea. Also, Mega happens to be my favorite cloud storage provider (and I have tested A LOT of different sites). Thank you for all your great work and I can't wait to see even more amazing stuff! ^_^

I had the same problem with my writing a while back. Went to secure cloud server through NaMoWriMo and have not looked back. But there will always be pirates out there. So anything you can do to secure your work, I am all for it.
