Hey everyone!

So, I've been hard at work on a new story lately and I wanted to give all of you a sneak peek at the first five chapters of it. For a while now I've been wanting to write a story with a trans main character in order to reflect the current journey that I've been on and after having a few conversations with some friends, this little gem popped into my head. It's my first attempt in a long time at a YA story--so none of my usual smut and stuff, sorry in advance for anyone that was hoping for such a thing--but I think it's a really important story worth telling despite me stepping out of my usual place.

The story revolves around a young man named Aelis who dreams of being a blacksmith someday like his father. As he's reminded again and again, however, smithing is a job meant for men and Aelis' father, along with the people in his village, don't recognize him as the man that he is. Aelis is determined to make them see the real him at any cost and his will to do so brings him on a perilous journey that will challenge him in every way imaginable on his quest to achieve his heart's desire.

I like it. I would think that Aelis would be questioning why Jazz is not at home with her family since they are close to the same age and that's where he would be if not for the fight with his father. We've learned so much about Aelis but know next to nothing about Jazz, and it seems like the story is turning into a shared mission. So it would make sense to learn more about her. I still think the witch is up to something. Although I'm not sure what. It seems like there might be an ulterior motive other than just to help Aelis. I would like to read the rest of the story now that I'm invested in the characters. Although I would like to feel a bit more invested in Jazz, but hopefully that will come if/when we find out more about her. Thank you for sharing. It's well written, as usual for your work.

Glad you liked it so far. Seeing how we've only spent two chapters with Jazz, there hasn't been that much time to learn about her yet. Especially with how closed off Aelis was to the idea of having her around at first. There's definitely more to learn about Jazz though. Also, even though they appear to be close to the same age, Jazz is actually a few years older than Aelis and from a completely different culture so it's not that odd that she's out on her own. I'm hard at work writing more of the story as I'm replying to this so rest assured you'll get more of the tale soon!

I look forward to reading it. Jazz said she's from a group or a people, I don't recall the name, so she was raised in the trees. Aelis just takes the comment in stride. Like he knows who they are. But as a reader, a little explanation at that point would be helpful. Just something brief to tell the reader about that particular group. Like if you were to give a brief synopsis of a dwarf to someone whose never heard of them, you might say shorter stout people who are commonly thought of as working as miners. Or something to that effect. I know, there's more to them than that, just like there's more to Jazz than a brief description like that as well. I look forward to seeing what more there is to the character. As well as what more there is to Aelis. Thank you for taking the time to read the comment and for replying.

That's a good point and I'll have to go back and see what I can add to give that bit more depth. Since this was more of a first draft it's good to hear what I can improve when I edit and touch up on things later so thank you for sharing your opinion.

Wow I loved this . You don't need smut as you put it for a good story . You need a good plot , good characters and good author. This story has all of those. The fantasy genre is a favourite of mine and you write it so well . The characters of Aelis and Jazz work so well together , bouncing off each other, the connection is there already . You can definitely feel the effection you have for Aelis and the heart you are putting in . Thank you
