TriedAndTrue

i love this match so much, bret hart is the best

Paul Watson

Roddy Piper is the one losing his shit on commentary, just going for it lmao Love him so much

Handyman

Yeah, tapping out in wrestling wasn’t really a thing up until Taz started making people tap in ECW, prior to that it was all verbal tap outs.

Dporticus

Interesting. Part of me feels like i knew that but totally forgot

Ryan Evans

Summerslam classic one of brets best matches

Flynn Vicci

They kind of just typically made the matches good rather than focusing on 5-10 minute promos. Most promos lasted a minute and 30 seconds at most back then. They focused more on making the matches good. The attitude era is what really popularized longer promos and segments.

Bret vs. Austin Survivor Series '96 if you haven't seen it already

ElSche

Well, Bret was a good technical wrestler but he wrestled a very different style from Zack saber Junior. Zack wrestles very british 'World of sports' like, lot of holds and roll ups. Bret is more main stream American technical wrestling. That being said i imagine it depends on his opponent if you like Brets matches because he could do both, high paced matches (for 90s standards) vs Shawn for example or slow methodical matches against Big men. The thing Bret prided himself in and I personally agree with is that no Bret Hart match is the same.

Abs Ali

I’m way too young to give a concrete answer on if you would have liked Bret. However during the pandemic I went back and watched at lot of Raws and PPVs, I didn’t find Bret that interesting until 1996. That was when I felt he had character development helped by him turning heel.

Lucas Biersack

Yup Hart is very different compared to ZSJ. I think classifying wrestlers as “technical” is not all that meaningful for that reason, being a technical wrestler could mean dozens of different things lol.

Ian Hernandez

I love old wrestling! The commentary is one of the reasons, they are just so funny. May they all rest in peace.

Matthew Harvey

I'm surprised nobody in the comments mentioned this yet, but going into this match, Mr. Perfect had a really bad back injury. An injury so bad, doctors feared that he would never wrestle again but, Mr Perfect wanted to put Bret over which is why he still did the match

Diruroru

Them headlock takeovers were beauuuutiful

Abridged Goku

it should be note mr perfect was not 100% and he suffered a severe back injury, including a broken tailbone and two herniated discs. Despite this, he was able to have a great match with bret. but imagine how much better it would have been had he not been injured.

Karen

Guerrilla Monsoon was trying to do play by play. Both Roddy and Bobby are heel color guys. But they didn't agree on much.

Shaun Carpenter

RIP to all these guys man❤️ Piper, Henan, Gorrilla, and Mr Perfect
