This was a lot of fun. That mummy guy was THE YETI, a famously bad WCW gimmick.

Jesse Ewiak

The reason for the pictures instead of video is this was a time when there wee still replays for PPVs throughout the week, so they wanted you to buy the replay, thus the pictures. Also, The Yeti was just a big guy (Ron Reis) who didn't show up again (or maybe once more).

To give a little context to Steve McMichael, he was the starting defensive end on the 85 bears. one of the bears few good seasons. Steve passed away last April and AEW did a special tribute to him on AEW Collision: Beach Break about a month later.

Hey it finally happened boys!!! So happy to see that y’all picked my submission. I don’t think it would be a stretch to say that this didn’t exactly do a good job of showing how WCW put WWE in the number two slot for a couple of years, but to be fair, the show was less than two months old at this point. nitro debuted on September 4 of 1995. The only big stars at the time, of course Eddie would become a big star later, but the only stars who were already made men that you saw on this show at the time were Lex Luger and the Horseman. The one thing that this did show though is that wrestling, especially back in the day was a lot more of a variety show than it is now. There was just a lot of gimmicks on this show, and that is not a complaint by me to be clear. Even though this show didn’t put WCW‘s best foot forward, I’m still happy you got to see it. You can see aspects of the thing that made this show good, I do think it did a good job of making things seem fun. Also, and once again ever since they went out of business, no one has been able to say this, but WCW had better production quality than WWE, I mean they were literally owned by a television network so that makes sense, but still. I do believe if it had been a better episode y’all might have been more sucked into it, but it was fun watching you guys learn about wrestlers. Buff Bagwell, as he was more famously known actually was a pretty big star a few years later, but the American Males tag team had nothing to do with that, and I think that goes without saying. Thank you so much for giving my submission a chance, and that’s just the luck of the draw whenever you let Alexa pick a random Monday. God bless you guys and I’m glad you enjoyed.

It was actually 3 rings, with 3 sets of wrestlers assigned, 1 set to each ring. And once enough were eliminated, all still active wrestlers move to 1 ring.

Karen

The wrestler with Flair was Brian Pillman. He is no longer with us, his son was on aew, then moved to nxt. They did a Darkseid episode about his life.

Zach Faulkner

Commenting this live so maybe you guys figure it out before the end of the video. But I just finished the 4 horseman promo. The guy who you didn't know who it was, that's "Flyin" Brian Pillman, aka Lexis King's dad.

This is before cell phones, and it was a 900 # you had to call, not a free call.

I have never watched one but I would think it would be terrible to watch on screen which is why no one has sent it

Watching WrestlingBios Reliving the War and his World War 3 reviews, yeah they’re a nightmare because you can’t see anything because each ring is a tiny box on screen.

Ron Reiss ended up being in Raven’s Flock for a while. But after this Nitro, they changed his outfit from the toilet paper and eventually dressed him up as a giant ninja.

I just started this so I’ll probably end up adding to this as I watch it, but if my memory serves me right Eddie was pretty early into his WCW career and was a bit of a generic babyface. He wouldn’t start getting noticed until he turned heel. This is a funny little bit on Eddies Wikipedia page about him being in the World War 3 match a few weeks after this show: “Guerrero was one of the final nine men in the battle royal, notably being one of only two men in the group to be under the age of 35, the other being The Giant.” Disco Inferno is a dickhead irl and was a firm mid carder in WCW but sure acts like he was more than that. Oh yeah, guy that had the Hogan hair at the end was Kevin Sullivan, the guy who killed the monkey during the Oz character debut.

Ian Hernandez

Absolutely agree. There were some good episodes early on, and I was hoping that a random selection would show that, but oh well that’s the way the cookie crumbles I suppose. Early on WCW was great in an over-the-top wacky way, but not quite as childish as WWF, but not until post NWO did it get awesome in a gritty way.

Forgot to mention that I do believe that the voting was in fact real. I will also say to the credit of WWE, whenever they do fan voting, it is actually legit. However WWE still does try and control things by giving sometimes only one real viable option, like who do you want to face John Cena? Do you want Otis? Do you want Tozawa? or do you want Shawn Michaels? obviously these people didn’t overlap, but just trying to give an example. Sometimes though when one real option is not all that is given, the fans don’t always cooperate and someone else gets picked and it does throw things off a bit. It should also be noted that WWE did legit voting when they were the only real game in town, that is to say no one was really around to challenge them, but they thought it would be a good idea. Surprisingly, and this isn’t just a WWE thing, but fan voted shows, which one would think would do great numbers, historically in wrestling don’t do very well. CMLL has fan voted match night and often doesn’t draw well with it. WWE historically has done pay-per-view where the fans vote on matches, Taboo Tuesday, and Cyber Sunday respectively, neither show did well any of the times they did them.

Disco Inferno isn’t a very well liked person in the business, but the gimmick itself is silly fun

Fun Fact: In 2018 After Disco Inferno Ranted On Twitter About How Nobody Knows How To "Work" Anymore Cody Rhodes Response To Him With This "Stop. You know nothing. Youh have drawn 0 dollors. No fan has ever left a show thinking about you. You were lucky to be a juiced up double-lifer "over with the boys" type in an era where you hid in plain sight costing on other's success. Couldn't hang then, can't get booked now."
