On going off the rails: My group has been shifting to Fabula Ultima to get away from WotC (and also because we like doing stuff which D&D isn’t the best at handling), and we played the quick-start oneshot made to introduce people to the system. I’d already played it at a convention a few weeks prior and another member had spectated that game, so I let everyone else pick out their characters from the pregens before me (I’d already converted my characters for our main campaigns - we were doing this switch during an in-game downtime - and between all of our games I had a character built which was unintentionally very similar to each of the pregens) and ended up playing the orator-healer character who happened to be established as the party’s leader (a nonbinary heir to a kingdom who’s broken off on their own to combat an expansionistic empire) whose character theme was “duty”, so I leaned into that pretty hard. Long story short, my group ended up bullying a merchant, convincing the antagonist to join us, and then using the artifact which was the oneshot’s driving force (it could effectively take someone’s soul from the afterlife and place it in a body) to sacrifice the merchant to that world’s equivalent of Stalin, revealing ourselves to all be communists and declaring our intentions to bring the world to communism. This wasn’t even on my radar at the start, but eventually it had spiraled past the point of no return. In other words, if your group doesn’t go off the rails, HARD, at any point, then y’all probably don’t know each other that well. The horses from Judgement were a pretty extreme example, but the JRWI crew has gone off the rails quite a few times, and it’s always a good time.

Charlie is 110% right about dnd getting derailed no matter what. My party has had multiple sessions derailed by a player making horse noises. One time, we had to fight a moose our dm was trying very hard to make intimidating. We killed it without issue, made its body dirty, cleaned it, then made it pink and bubblegum scented and flavored. There was also a bit with a hatchet teleporting thrown in there somewhere.

I’m so unbelievably on board with Jaguar in Riptide if Grizzly can figure out how to include him without his time sword absolutely breaking the plot. It’d probably confuse the non-patrons, though.

No cause they needed mel to trust them, so they wouldn't do something that would make mel hate them. Also, idk if I missed a bit but they didnt seem like they were bad to mel, asside from the fact that they are bad people who had mel do crimes

No cuz Gillion and Jaguar’s dynamic would actually be soo good because while Jaguar plays the act of the chosen one, Gillion is THE CHOSEN ONE. Jaguar would be incredibly jealous of Gillion and would try to one-up him at any opportunity while Gillion would think so highly of him and play into it because he would believe everything that Jaguar says and try to one-up him as well . Potentially leading to the greatest rivalry/friendship in all Jrwi. Or I’m crazy idk

Not 100%, but I think they will be releasing TMK to the public over a couple weeks and there is the small one shot they teased a few weeks ago. Those two things will cover the time before Riptide returns, I think.
