YO PATRONS!! The council has been brain-storming ways to drive more people to the Patreon. Recently, we've had the idea to put the first 10 episodes up on our YouTube channel. Obviously, the Prime Defenders campaign is meant to be exclusive, only to you patrons. Therefore, we're essentially asking for your thoughts and permission on this idea. We want to make sure the benefits for pledging to JRWI is worth, and don't want anyone to feel cheated. However, it could help, and exposing more people to the campaign sounds cool! Please let us know what you think.If you vote on the poll, and want to reply with why, we'd appreciate it!

i think it'd be a good idea ! i've known a few people who are iffy on getting the patreon cuz they don't know if they'd like pd or not :0 so it'd be good to lure more people into the brainrot trap of crackhead superhero teens

I mean i think that the first couple episodes of the current Patreon campaign, if they are public, it would make more people want to pledge, or at least look at the Patreon.

Cause if you only did 5- sure it’d be a round number with more content to look forward to, but it doesn’t have a super urgent ending (from what I remember) so they may not be as incentivised to pledge if it’s a nice ending

I was thinking of a compromise: make a clip channel that features both campaigns clips, like the epic monologue Vincent gave to wavelength the first time they fought. That way you just tease at the content of the campaign without just giving it away to the people who aren't paying

I want to append this quickly and say that these episodes will not go up all at once, they'll be once a week. By the time episode 10 would come out patreon would be on episode 31. That said the number we'll upload is in the air still ~Condi

Also if there are jrwi fans that can’t afford to sub to the patreon it gives them a little bit of context for what prime defenders is like. and it could even potentially get new people who have never heard of jrwi interested.

10 EPS IS A LOT :O the first arc w/ the island would be enough to post id say cuz i had a TON of fun watching that one and bizly did such a good job describing everything going on during it. either the full arc or leaving it on some big cliffhanger would be cool as hell. either way i would die to see thumbnails for these guys

I agree with WaxyLT_102519, i think a clips channel would be a good compromise. although it's not as easy as just uploading the first ten episodes, i feel it'll be better in the long run. especially since you can continuously upload clips to give periodic boosts to the patreon. Also, Queston; Would these uploads interfere with the uploads of Riptide? Will we get Prime Defenders, and Riptide uploaded on the same week? or will it just be prime defenders and riptide will go on a semi-hiatus of sorts?

I was just thinking earlier that you guys should give atleast the first 5 episodes away. I only bought the patreon because I was caught up on the main campaign and was itching for more. Having the first couple free though might’ve made me decide sooner because even though the main campaign has my heart, PD is fucking hilarious and worth gravitating to.

I love this idea, and I think it's really good! I see a lot of people commenting concerns about the number of episodes, and I understand that, but I think 10 would be awesome, especially with how much more content would be available by the time you uploaded 10 to YouTube. However, if you're thinking of a lower number, I'd suggest 8? Because it ends with the Doug cliffhanger which is still a really good hook, and doesn't start to get into the bigger plot + villains without context. Again, I think 10 is perfect, but it's just another idea!

I think I'm more with other people's idea of making it end at episode 8, since it's a strong grab for anyone who wants to continue with that cliffhanger, but also ends at a good point with the party city arc ending.

I’d suggest maybe doing 5- that way there’s enough to get new people hooked, but it won’t leave people who are unable to pledge feeling they need to so that they can find out how the cliffhanger is resolved- episode 5 is pretty solid ending wise

I think making it a regular thing where every ten episodes you make the previous 10 public would be a pretty solid model Ex:after episode 20 you release 1-10 on YouTube, then after episode 30 release 11-20 on YouTube

Definitely don't release them all at once tho. The sheer volume of episodes can turn some ppl off (which is another reason why it was a good decision to switch to weekly episodes on main!!). Maybe hype up a "release party week/month/time period" where you release an episode every couple of days or week or w/e (I'd say maybe on mondays bc some ppl still haven’t gotten the memo that you’re releasing only on friday now, and even if they have it’s still a special day for riptide enjoyers). (Also you *know* to hype it up though, you know youtube branding shit, I don’t have to tell you) I’ve seen some people say you should do less, but isn’t 10 the one where The Big Thing happens and they have to go with Wavelength at the end? I think that’s ultimately the best option bc 1. It’s a cliffhanger for so many reasons, and so many plot threads now to be explored- and 2. It’s where PD really gets Real. Like raw, horrible, emotional weight. I’ve heard you say on previous riptide just rolled with its that the fandom loves angst, well this is prime fuckin angst, served hot. (“prime” angst, haha). Up till now it’s been mostly silly, but this will hook the half of the audience that needs more than that.

I think it’s a great idea! Making my brother listen to a couple eps on a drive was how I got him hooked on this campaign. I obviously loved the prime force one shot, but uploading some of the actual campaign will get people into the characters and the vibe of the show

I think it'd be better to leave them as patreon exclusives, because most of the people that are very invested in jrwi would want to watch more of your guys' stuff anyway, like i did. Also, if someone whos really into prime defenders after watching the 10 episodes wants to pledge but cannot afford it, it'd kind of bum them out. I think it'd be a better idea for you to release the first episode only, so people wont be left with as many loose ends. They'll still be exposed to for example the different battle system and a more modern world than most dnd campaigns do, which i found very interesting starting out.
