I'm coming from more recently in the campaign, having started at episode 103 (for some ungodly reason) catching up to current, then watching earlier episodes in a chaotic order, so my opinion on who I like more/etc is not fully informed by the entire campaign. I actually would like to hear the NPCs talk more, especially Queen (I love Queen. So Much.) and Drey. Also Condi! Especially in-character, because hearing Jay talk more would be very good. I'm not going to tell anyone to shut up, lol. I think sometimes, as a viewer, there are points where I don't think a bit carries well or maybe that comment could have been saved for later or wasn't adding to the current situation, and those times have often been Charlie. However, those things that rubbed me wrong are often the things that the DM and other players say they really liked, in the Just Rolleds for those episodes. So, I feel like Charlie should keep doing his thing, because the feelings of the players and DM matter *a lot more* than a few viewers. That being said, please don't take this as me not liking you, Charlie, I think you're great and found out about this podcast from your channel! Gillion is also my favorite of the PCs. So I'm not trying to say you're playing badly or not entertaining or anything like that. You're 100% amazing and it's totally okay for me not to always jive with your style 24/7, 365. I hope that all made sense. ^-^;;

I know this is old, but I just wanted to add to around 40:00, when they talk about who will die first. Gillion dying could make sense even though he already has a written ending. Him dying could add an element of tragedy, being raised up as the 'Chosen One' only to die and realize he wasn't. Or he was and dies, his final thoughts being "This can't be it" or "I still have more to do" kinda thing, he'd be denying his death the whole time he's dying. It could also add to his ruling of innocent or guilty, maybe he was guilty, revoked of the chosen one title, and lived the rest of his life thinking he still was the chosen one.

ayeee aphantasia mention!! i have complete aphantasia, which means i literally cannot see things in my head, but it's actually kind of a spectrum. some people can visualize shapes but not colors, some people see things blurry, some people can only visualize objects they know really well, etc

I have a question for Grizzly, will there ever be a timeskip in Riptide? I feel like the crew going on all these adventures in only a couple months is a little crazy. I feel like it would be cool if they just had some off screen time so they can cement themselves as more notable crew

I dont think there will be a timeskip. It is crazy its only been a few months, but this is a fantasy world and story so its alright. If the players ever have reason to request a timeskip, then maybe! Most of the cause for them adventuring for a short amount of time is how fast travel goes by, a bit unrealistically even.

i know a lot of people might consider the whole ‘gillion becoming evil to unite the land and sea via a common enemy’ the bad ending/route. like if you picked all the Bad options in a video game, that’s how the story would play out. but i’ll be completely honest if done well and taken seriously i think it could be so fucking compelling and fun to watch, it could cause soooo much interest inner conflict for all our characters, and also letting gillion go apeshit at both sides that have basically either controlled him or attacked him his whole life would be VERY cathartic. and then a whole thing of chip and jay trying to stop gil from sacrificing himself for this role and cause, that there must be another way while dealing with their own feelings of hurt and betrayal,,,,, ANYWAY. besides gillion being apparently doomed by the narrative I had an amazing time listening to this rolled!! Holy shit an hour long you guys are spoiling us!! OH oh also Condi mentioned that idea of Jay being gone for a bit like gil recently which sounds harrowing. I guess the most likely way that’s going to happen is by the navy either threatening/kidnapping her back. It would be really interesting to watch how gill and chip fall apart without her to keep them grounded for sure, as I imagine they try and figure out a way to get her back/find her. Or wait for her to do so herself if that’s what she told them to do, which might be even more difficult for them. A ship without a navigator,, they’d be directionless in more ways than one. I don’t usually comment here so sorry if this is stupid long (I also often worry I talk too much lol). But maaaaan it feels like everything is about to kick off really soon, I can’t wait for those dominos to start falling !!!!

this is pretty unrelated to the rolled but i was thinking about those cross-over oneshots they did, and imagine if they did what ifs like that but they got to play their npcs imagine mark winters and strangle macock. tarraus and old man earl the possibilities are endless

i just wanna say i personally LOVE the slow burn story. it brings so much more personality and life to the characters and story that we wouldn’t get in a super rushed plot.

Honestly grizzly surprised me saying the final arc is not with the black rose and Nicklaus, but I thought about it and it makes more sense to me now, as having the world changing event of overthrowing a world government would have a much larger impact on the world as a whole than finding the black rose crew. So I’m very interested what will top that with the war arc.

I think you guys all balance each other out really well!! Lots of friendly chemistry and that's what I love about JRWI. I would love to see Condi talk more but obviously if he prefers not to that's fine too! I feel like everyone should talk but not at the expense or in place of anyone else! Gillion & Chip are much more talkative characters from my point of view so it makes a lot of sense why Jay is a bit quieter and talks a bit less. Basically I think you guys do an incredible job and I also love the slow-burn story, I think it would be less satisfying for the plot to be rushed and have a key story element be the focus of every single episode. I love the slice-of-life genre in just about all of the media I consume so I adore the ship episodes and think it makes the characters much more relatable to the viewers! Just my thoughts, very excited for the next episode!

I think that jay needs to make room for herself in bits more. I feel like she's been the 'serious' one a lot, and she could be a little sillier. Maybe it was part of her navy training to be professional and no-nonsense, and she's still been acting like that to some extent because it's how she was raised, but spending so much time with chip & gil has made her a little looser. Furthers the distance from her navy self a bit, I think. I also think that if there isn't one person that everyone (even subconsciously) knows will reel back the bit, then everyone has to share that responsibility a little and it kind of evens everyone out so no one is a caricature on either end. Re. descriptions, personally I prefer a bit more general ones unless they're learning important information to be used later. I have a hard time staying focused on longer descriptions (nothing to do with grizz's specifically, it's the same for me in all media), so I would be cool with shorter ones! But I don't mind the longer ones if they're helpful for people either.

For the 'who talks too much' question: i love every character and like 75% of everything they say makes me flap my hands around with happiness. The 25% is usually when a bit goes on for too long or is a little bit *too* unhinged, which can definitely happen but doesn't happen often enough for it to be an actual problem. I would love to hear Jay talk more because all of Condi's characters are so cool in a similar way and I can't get enough of it, but it also makes sense for her character while she would kinda sit there and vibe while Gil and Chip are going bonkers. Same for Vyncent in PD, actually.

As for the rest of the episode, it made me so happy dude. The way they came back and revisited the Allport NPCs, the Gillion emotional stuff (hate how much I relate to it, in the best way possible) Jay's dream and the whole thing with her wearing an eyepatch which brings on a whole slew of Ferin Family Theories, the way Chip handled everything going on in a way that is so Chip-like but also clearly shows the development he's been going through lately, just all the little things that I noticed and couldn't stop smiling about. The last few episodes, since the end of the Feywild arc I think, have been so good across the board, every single episode is a gut punch and a warm hug at the same time. Thank you guys.

Everyone in the comments is too nice, so I'm gonna say something that's been bothering me. It's so frustrating when the party drags along every possible NPC on their adventure and then forget about them. Where tf did Fin go?? Has he been sitting in a tub for three days? In dire situations, it sometimes feels like there are random moments like, "and then Alphonze is here to save us!" when their presence was never acknowledged. I do truly love the NPCs, but it feels like there are too many if they're constantly being forgotten or left behind. It's a problem I frequently see with pets, where players like the idea of having them all the time, but beyond that they become accessories. Also, I remember a previous rolled mentioning wanting more females on the ship, but they've hardly ran into like three (living) female NPCs that would so much as consider the option.

If Grizzly had to keep track of Every Single side character at all times it would get really tedious I'm sure, NPCs appear whenever the DM needs them to or whenever the crew voluntarily brings them along, they don't really need to be constantly tracked when the focus of the series is the main trio.

I mean, exactly. The problem is when the crew forgets to bring someone along and then suddenly they're just there, or when they do specifically bring just one NPC and immediately forget about them, almost leaving them behind.

Grizzly mentioned that we’re heading towards a chip arc and I cannot exaggerate how fucking HUGE the smile on my face was because I’ve been so excited to see more between chip and Reuben ever since they mentioned going back to all port. My theory is that the paralysis has worn off and chip is about to have some very painful memories come back and I’m so excited

Cool Easter egg but it was super cool that synesthesia was mentioned during this episode! I have sound to sight synesthesia, so I have colors and sometimes shapes associated to voices and instruments! and it’s always really fun to imagine/see the colors changing and bouncing around when listening to the episodes. (The colors change with the voice acting) One thing about this that’s been bugging me though, is the redesign. Chip. Is. Yellow. I can’t explain this in any other way but chips voice is so goddamn yellow it makes my eyes hurt and I love it he’s so yellow so when the redesign had him in a red coat I had to pause and pace around for an hour because I simply couldn’t fathom it. (This is satire I love the redesign I think it’s cool as fuck but man it is so weird to me that that boy is wearing red)

Idk, putting it out there theory that Edyn is this “other chosen” everyone’s talking about, but that she’s lying about being the chosen to the navy to keep Gil safe, while also using it to get closer to stuff about the false leviathan maybe? ALSO, I think the moment between Jay and Gil talking about his older sister, to call her if he wants, knowing what we do about Jay and her older sister?? Idk there just feels like there’s something juuuust under the surface of that interaction, it’s heartbreaking fr /pos. Truthfully I don’t have any problem with how much any of you do or don’t talk in campaigns. I feel like if everyone talked the exact same amount it would be odd and it would feel led real. Hey Condi listen, I love how quiet Jay is. It really fits her character I think and as a pretty quiet person it’s super cool to see. ❤️

I have a theory, I think Edyn is working with the navy to try and get them to go to war with the undersea, and then went back to the undersea to have a meeting (The meeting Oslana and her mom are going to) and tell the elders about the artificial leviathan, so the elders will have to call back the champion of the undersea, hero of the deep, Gillion Tidestrider so that can have him fulfill the prophecy, and destroy the oversea,
