Okay so conflicting Christmas story: I've heard that Christmas was originally Yule, a pagan holiday set over a while but also on the 25th, and basically in an effort to make it easier for all of the Germanic Pagans to convert because noone is gonna step away from a religion that has fuckin week long feasts, they moved it to be a full celebration at Yule. Makes it easier for Norse Pagans cause we get to just celebrate Christmas normally along with everyone else but it has more religious significance.
