THE COUNCIL DISCUSS PRIME DEFENDERS SEASON 2 EPISODE 34

Comments

Jackson Hunter

This episode was so crazy, very excited for the next one!

Pepper

You know what I get what Bizly means. Personally, I ain't against murdering supervillains, but the ideal situation is by putting them through the legal system and being put to death after a fair trial. Otherwise, it sets a precedent that superheros have the authority to straightup murder a man and said authority being respected without question as fact by the general public. Like at that point, what is keeping superheros accountable for murdering the "badguys"? What is to stop them from just murking a mf cus they're mildly annoyed? What even defines a bad guy to begin with? What happens if superheros jump to a wrong conclusion and murder someone innocent? Can superheros murder a vigilante for operating outside of the law? Like if Le Frog were to be intentionally murdered by a superhero while he was possessed, is that just? The point of superheros not murdering supervillains is about keeping the enforcers of the law in check and not giving them too much power. Anyways good episode :D

I'd say defeating sewer ravioli is a huge W

D3ssy

D3ssy

You're so right

reed_you_guess

2026-09-10 18:00 I just was wondering, since Grizzly and Condi were able to voice their legacy characters, what was the reason Charlie didn’t voice Ms. G?

The trickster was always going to get out at some point and if william gets his shit together and deals w him and all the chaos demons (i cant think of any other way to deal w it) thats like a universal net good i think

Pun Boi and Pen Gurl

The whole no kill rule got me thinking about trigun again. I’m even more excited for deadwood now!!

ghostrial

i think the whole argument about the no kill rule is really based on how you view society. whereas somebody who likes law and order would be all for the no kill rule, somebody who’s against the state probably wouldn’t mind killing a few supervillains. the whole thing about letting superheroes be the ones to kill villains is that it gives them the power to choose who lives and dies, and it would be hard to keep them in check by society’s means. it would also probably mean a lot more chaos since the line of what’s okay and not would be harder to place. that would suck for politicians, the government and whoever is for all that, but an anarchist would be having a field day with those heroes. just depends on your perspective on society and all that fun stuff. (just something i thought about when reading the comments lol)

William is the only one that graduated I believe I think near the beginning of S2 there was a conversation and Will said he graduated while the other 2 dropped out. Don’t quote me on that though.

Abdulaziz Mohammed

since bizly has to run the character, and charlie probably wouldn't be able to have his characters talk to each other like condi could.

Gunkymunkyspunk

Well put, couldn’t have said it better myself

Banana_steve 07

I would say William beating the ghost of Party City in a dance battle was a big W

ghostrial

thanks! it took more brainpower than it should've to type it out 😭

I’m gonna be honest, I didn’t really like this rolled. They touched a bit on the relationship between Clarence and Mal, and they talked a bit about light speed, but the rest was just about other superhero media and their 12 hour in between session. I might be misremembering but I didn’t hear them talk about anything else that happened in the session. I’m not trying to be negative, but I was expecting them to talk about the array and about Mrs. G’s situation. At the end of the day, it’s their show and they could talk about whatever they want, but I just felt it was a bit lackluster.

i agree. it's always fun to listen to off-topic chat since there are often a few funny parts in them, but it would be nice if they didn't take up over 50% of the rolleds. i feel like there was a lot more in the episode that they'll could've talked about (like william putting a knife to his stomach, the visit with ms. g, more in depth on lightspeed's backstory, tide, and predictions for deadwood for a few examples). it's understandable to have off-topic chat when it's not such an important episode, but this was one of the most significant episodes so far and it felt like only about 20 minutes of it was directly about it. just putting my thoughts here ^^ (edit: sorry for ratioing you on patreon dot com i didnt even know that was possible lmao)

Gunkymunkyspunk

But letting him out of the Dorito bag was an L so the W sorta gets canceled out.

Atticcouch

I like when the boys talk off topic but that’s personal preference

JustTheLad

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy that kinda stuff too. For instance, when they fought the dm. That was one of my favorite rolled with its’ but that didn’t take up most of the episode, they took time to actually talk about stuff that went on during the session and did they more toward the end when there wasn’t much else to talk about.

Michael

they talked about the episode though, pretty in depth as well. it just wasn’t exclusively about the episode 100% of the time

Michael

this is my favorite kind of rolled

Michael

i would murder le frog

Grimy Boi

Sewer ravioli was the truest PD w and you can’t change my mind. No one was harmed, no bad came of it, wiwi just had a delicious snack in an unexpected locale.

The tincan man

This was definitely a personal favorite PD episode for me

Abigail

I mean, they were on topic for most of it. Some off topic stuff is too be expected, and I personally don't mind it. Even when they were discussing the morality aspect, a lot of it was in reference to or context of their characters.

Pepper

ur so real for that

JustTheLad

They hardly, if at all, touched on the array or mrs g. I felt there was more in the episode they could talk about instead of talking about if batman should kill the joker.

Eltzu

Oh, me tooo

Keyia

The problem with applying irl morals to fiction is that fictional supervillians are sometimesade to be irredeemable. No matter what you do, they're just going to keep trying to do terrible things. Locking them up is just putting off the inevitable since they'll magic superpower or plothole their way out. Had a discussion about the morals recently and I came to the conclusion that most people see death as denying someone the right to see their flaws and make a change. It makes the assumption that the weight of their past wrongs will always outweight their future good.

Just Roll With It

Totally fair to want to hear us touch on all the important beats of an episode. I think we had the intention of talking about Mrs. G, but forgot as we ran out of time. It's something we can talk about next rolled. Was there anything else we should've given thoughts on? It might be helpful to keep in mind we recorded this episode on May 9th and the rolled before the next session a few days ago. There was a long gap in between recording Riptide & PD because of The Suckening and Charlie being away. Apologies if it impacted the rolled, but this one was still fun and helped us get back into it.

ob1fun

Please just make a podcast already

(sorry if i was not the intended person to respond) a few things i would've like to hear talked about taken from my other comment are: william putting a knife to his stomach, the visit with ms. g, in depth on lightspeed's backstory, tide, and predictions for deadwood. there are probably other things too, but my brain is failing me rn lol. i might edit it once i think of more. and these are just rolleds and i don't think anyone was going to die over it being mostly hero morality talk. most people just listened to it straight off of the newest episode, and likely expected a lot more talk about the episode when it was shown to be 50 minutes long. the gap between the actual episodes and the recording of the rolled probably didn't help you guys either, and i don't blame anyone for it really. and if it helps the council get back into character for the episode, then i don't really mind it all too much. there will be more opportunities to talk about such topics in futures rolleds. thanks for responding :D

Nicholas Winkler

The one cartoon guy was a dub. You saved him and I don’t believe he was affected by chaos or anything like that.

Mike Rawch

I agree - the off topic stuff is fun and entertaining, and so is the on topic stuff. I just would like a little bit of a better balance in general as it does tend to be more of a "just chatting" kind of a thing. One thing I always enjoy hearing about (tho I am a nerd so lol) is some of the behind the scenes mechanical stuff - like I would have liked to hear more about how this wolf totem thing works as a M&M thing. Or maybe some more thoughts from Charlie on how he's planning to use his character now that he doesn't have smoke powers. Also, to be honest I really don't enjoy some of the "ethical debates". Personally I love philosophy (I even have a bit of a unique take on this debate that is imo pretty interesting), but there's a HUGE difference between participating in a conversation and listening to a recording of guys arguing. Honestly it can be kinda just frustrating. But that's just me and maybe I should just change my Patreon tier. Been loving the campaign itself though!

mocco

william wisp is now half as strong as a komodo dragon we’re back on the lizard scale

Ariadne Shawords

I love listening to the JRWI boys having a tumblr level discussion about Batman that eventually makes its way into a fanfic

Newton P

Dying laughing @ them bringing up Fartbo and saying they'd just kill him because HE WAS SLATED TO BE EXECUTED BY INCINERATION. AND WAS BEING IMPRISONED IN TIDE'S FUCKING FRIDGE. That moment honestly had me confused for the entire first half of season 1 like okay is this. Is this for real or is it just silly. Cuz this is fucked if played straight but sooooo funny as just an extended gag.

Bully Me

William and the party city ghost shit went hard. Big W

Magik Opossum

The thing with Batman well for one he rarely has good writers unfortunately. But one of his biggest characters aspects is he believes in Justice and rehabilitation. He thinks that his rouges gallery deserve a fair trial and the chance to get better (Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Freeze all have been rehabilitated in different comics). When he says he doesn't want to kill it's not because of ego, but because it's too easy to do it, and he believes the more he does it the easier it gets which conflicts with his beliefs

Krow

To be fair, Batman can’t kill his villains because then the writers would have to make a new character every week

Frankenstein

I think most of the reasons why there are no, solid Ws in prime defenders is the dms fault. (Not like it’s a bad thing) because I think Bizly purposely writes situations that are just morally grey or how downsides no matter what. Like bell tech or Arbuckle, It’s always a L no matter what exactly happens. And the rest of the Ls is probably because William was crying in a corner

Imnothere

In Marvel, there have been times when Spider-Man has killed. Once, he accidentally hit and killed a woman who intercepted his punch into Wolverine, another example is when he kills some villain because he was technically undead so the no-kill rule doesn’t apply to him (like what happened with the lich)

Imnothere

Don’t worry the villain got better like 20 years later because comics
