i think grizzlys characters (aside from being hot and cool) always have something looming over them, and part of their character arc is to stop running and turn and face whatever is following them for good or for ill AND I EAT THAT SHIT UP EVERY TIME YUM YUM

I think the best overall character tropes are the ones that aren't intentional at all. (Major spoilers all avaliable JRWI campains. Specifically Charlie's characters, but I go in depth to explain my ideas. Go watch them if you haven't, it's very worth it.) I recently commented about Charlie's characters (I haven't watched their very first campaigns sorry, can't comment on those) being religious, so I'll elaborate on that one. Like what was said, Peter is very obvious, having an angel partially posses him in order to exact it's will, while also avoiding the consequences of such an act, such as being hurt. Gillion's entire life revolves around an incredibly religious prophecy, and the moment he realized he could've been chosen by both Goddesses he called them his moms. He's afraid his entire life has not only been laid out by the prophecy, but by higher beings than himself, all of which the ones he believes in are Gods of some sort. And Gillion's arc is definitely very cultural, it's undeniable that a crucial part of his individual culture is his religion. For a very long time it defined, and still does define (in some ways), Gillion as an individual. And William. Oh my God, it is so religious. Of course, I do have to keep in mind this was filmed nearly a year ago, so some of the newer information wasn't avaliable back then, but yeah. William's story is incredibly religious. That poor kid is the reincarnated soul of a dude who controls the end of existing for sentient beings. Another dude that was around when he was that dude in a previous life was trying to coerce him into becoming this being, motivated by the connection he had with Clarence. Being responsible for all these previous souls, feeling the weight of his absence (not necessarily his, but there are shoes to fill). Like, it feels like very mythological at the very least. And let it be known, with Mal now attempting to take the place of (or become) God, this has gotten like, at least 60% more real. But the big thing with William, it is so obvious it wasn't planned, it just ended up being that way. Still a character trope for sure, though. Also having a literal angel make his way down to fuck up vampires seems at least a little religious in my books lmao. The only thing that hasn't had religion in it is Blood in the Bayou, mainly because those creatures, while grander than humans, were grounded by their nature. And it isn't anything bad, me saying this. It's just a definite trope at this point. The best ones are the ones that find their way in naturally. Anyway, enjoyed the episode, gonna sit on it for a bit and get back to commenting on it specifically lmao. Have a good night.

(FINALE SPOILERS FOR BITB SCROLL AWAY IF YOU HAVENT WATCHED YET) Ah yes, the Community Center. I think I count that less as religious theming myself, only because that is just humans being humans. I think my main qualification is it being a major part of the world/character, and while it was a cool detail for BITB, it didn't hit that mark. But I bet you, if humanity somehow didn't end at the end of BITB, that town would've become a cult. Then we would've had religious theming baby.

i actually think condi's trope is dumbass because even though characters like jay and rolan are technically "smart" and have skills, they also have a lot of moments like rolan doing fake mushrooms or jay's "that lady bit me and i think i was into it" moment. it's definitely more obvious for characters like vyncent, ryan, and sylnan, but even his more intellectual characters are still dumbasses to me :)

another charlie pc trope i've noticed is being/feeling like a huge failure, and working through that is a big part of his characters' arcs (also being manipulated by a higher power, which those two tropes combined definitely end up mirroring major aspects of religious trauma lmao)

Ok, I loved the character trope talk because I have thought about it so much. Now, I'm going to be that asshole and say what kind of characters I want the dudes to play. (But this is all a joke because I'm sure backseat gaming is annoying. I'm sharing this mostly because it's fun to think about. I'll delete if this is weird.) Bizly: I feel like he plays dude tropes a lot but after Ari. Holy shit. My favorite weird girl. I really want Bizly to be another weird girl or be a mean girl (mostly because his voice gets so deep that a blonde haired mean girl type would be fucking hilarious to hear.) But seriously man killed Ari, he can definitely play a great female character. Slimecicle: Maybe it's impossible, but I would slay God, the Devil, and pussy for him to play a serious character. And I've never gotten laid. He loves bits so still bits. But like, a guy who keeps a completely serious face through it. Prepper teacher from BitB sent me it was so funny. I cannot stop thinking about Slimecicle doing someone like Shayne's Chosen character from Smosh. I would actually die. Grizzly: anyone not conventionally hot/conventionally cool. That's basically it. I will say that his characters thus far are incredible, but I genuinely think he's emotionally intelligent and insightful enough to play someone radically different from what he's done before. Whether he would enjoy that is the most important thing, though, so I have no qualms if he keeps on keeping on. I am loving Arthur so much and have no true complaints. Condi: the rizz has been within you this whole time, Condi. We believe in you. Believe in the power of fuck and the power of fuck will believe in you (hasn't worked for me yet but I'll get laid one day). Would love a charismatic Condi character. Condi's rizz unleashed would level mountains, for certain. All of y'all have kicked ass thus far, this is just rattling around in my brain. Apologies if my social awareness is lacking and this is actually rude. I really love y'alls stuff regardless and I'm hyped for all thats coming with JRWI. Can't wait for the next episode!

I think this is the stuff the guys fall into: Bixlys characters are always kinda sad, but also fall into the slap stick persona. Slimecicle is always super goofy and has pacts with higher powers, but all the powerful stuff they get comes with a cost, every single character has some mechanic which hinders their enormous power Grizzly is always the cool and broken character, a tragic backstory that they put a front over that breaks over time and leads to healthy growth. The characters are usually pretty powerful as well. Condi is th hardest one, the only similarity I can come up with is the lack of confidence, and the unique ways each character tries to iver come it, whether it’s Vincent’s stupidity, jays head strong and maturity, Roland’s by the book or emeziels hot headedness. They always seem to have an issue with their confidence they must cover up

unironically love the name of the campaign being just plainly, "the suckening" but to answers charlie's question on what patrons think it should've been called, i think having the word 'kindred' in the title would be hype since that seems to be a motif in the titles/descriptions for the episodes up to this point. maybe something like; "veil of the kindred" or "kindred nocturna" (maybe just "nocturna" would be cool)! idk, just a thought!

"nocturna" comes from the latin word for 'of night' so you could definitely play around with it's prefix's and stuff. nocturna is actually the feminine version of the word nocturnus (it's where we get the word nocturnal from!). you could also change it around to nocturnum! just shooting the shit here man i love this campaign so far and i can't wait to see more in the coming months :DD

I was thinking about how emeziel and shilo could be twins and it doesn't make sense from what I know about vampire offspring. If vampires have a kid, they are born vampires which means that If the queen was emeziels mom, he would've been a vampire at birth.

notes thus far: 1) for a good moment i thought the campaign was called "a beginner's guide to unlife", but "the suckening" has a certain zing to it that i wouldn't trade for anything. 2) Emizel trying to get Shilo to stop crying by slapping himself in the face is peak sibling experience, aint no problem in the world a little unfortunately timed slapstick cant fix. 3) for the love of god i hope Grefgor doesn't join the swarm, i NEED him back. PS "from the top rope my prince" was so fucking funny i almost fell out of my chair wheezing

also on the topic of everyone's character tropes, Charlie's thing is that all of his characters have their signature bits that at first seem to be just character quirks for funsies, but upon learning more about the character you realize that they stem from something a bit fucked up, Condi's thing is all of his characters have some form of daddy issues and also Gun tm (petition to give Emizel a gun), Grizly's characters all have Something Wrong With Them that you can smell from a mile away but can't put your finger on it until it slaps you in the face, and Bizly's characters all have 2:1 shoulders/waist ratio

Vampire: The Masquerade is like the perfect game for roleplay fiends, from how in depth the character creation is where there's so many things you can choose from and change throughout compared to systems like 5e where it's feels more like a random numbers game with options you fill out and actions that you are given to choose from while VTM just gives you disciplines/rituals, and skills and for the most time let you come up with the ways to use them, and from how rolls are made and the amount of skills allowing for so many combinations, at first I was a bit indifferent about the version of the World of Darkness you guys are creating but over time it has started to grow on me and I can't wait to see what happens next.

I thought that was really interesting character development that showed the bonds these characters are forming (despite sort of being at each others throats all the time lol). I know realistically that show games and home games are different. But I really enjoy the roleplay aspects of games too. While getting to a location or plot point is important, I love seeing characters talk and interact. I feel like character relationships feel so much more natural and strong when they're not just built on major plot events, but also those small spur of the moment interactions. Things like pranks and bits, and other roleplay things that happen in real life to normal people.
