the hawk tuah bit is def a bit on the nose for me but the rest looks good. Hope it delivers

The show has shed light on memes and current trends before, idk why the “hawk tuah” parody in the trailer made Hendo so upset 😂 they’ve been going 17 seasons now, South Park has been doing the same thing for years now. That being said this season could be horrible, but I’m sure it will still be worth watching as it’s the gang. (Also Rob changed his name to Rob Mac)

oh dear....i was on board until the hawk tuah bit....yikes lol i HATE when shows try to shoe-horn in memes like this. idk about anyone else but when that girl "happened" i read about it, saw it mentioned a few times, and haven't thought of it since. seeing it mentioned in the trailer is the first time i've thought about it in months. it makes the show feel dated and "try hard" when they do stuff like that. hopefully it's just a one off joke. but highlighting it in the trailer just feels ick to me. hopefully it's a good season!!

If you’ve seen the entire series before, idk why this is such a surprise and shock to you lol.. they’ve touched on trends and topics before in pretty good detail, as has pretty much every other comedy series in recent time. They make one jab at a specific meme now and that’s too on the nose for you? After 16 seasons? 🤷‍♂️

yes this show is flawless after 17 seasons it is impossible they do anything cringe in an attempt to stay relevant. every joke they've ever done lands. ok i'm being silly but i think in the past the trends or topics they've touched on were broader. social media, hate speech, "wokeness". hawk tuah was such a short lived insignificant meme that it does come across like they threw that in there to appeal to younger audience. honestly nothing in the trailer appealed to me. i will watch obviously but part of me really wishes they just wrapped in season 12 or 13. it would've been remembered as a near perfect cult classic but like everything successful, they milk it and milk it until people are just fed up. no one has the integrity of a bill waterston (calvin and hobbes) to just call it quits at the peak

Mac lifting Dee in the air by her area was a direct reference to trump’s infamous quote, the entire episode was around his toxicity as well as the current “climate”. How is every it’s always Sunny fan now so sensitive to a single joke from a trailer? I feel like I’m taking CRAZY PILLS

it's not a trend, it was a meme online that last maybe a week and everyone thought it was overkill then. they have never really put internet memes and tiktok trends in an episode like this before it was just weird. editing to add: take the wazzup moment from the office. a meme referencing a popular commercial. everyone and their mother was going around saying "wazzup!" so in the office it just fit because that's what was happening. people at work and school would randomly say it and it fit. but hawk tuah was so insignificant, so over blown and over saturated. no one thought it was funny. most everyone was sick of seeing it and hearing it everywhere. so sunny shoe horning it in just feels weird and random. it doesn't fit. i'd feel the same if they did the same to any other tiktok meme or something. imagine sitting down to watch it's always sunny in like 2012 and they are using memes form vine and there's a scene where mac and dennis walk into charlie's apartment and he's got a potato strung up on a fan and is singing "a potato flew around the room..." just saying.

haha people can have different feelings about different jokes its not that deep. yea i agree times up for the gang is one of the best of the later seasons, when mac grabbed dee by the ***** yea it was funny mostly because they didn't even mention trump or beat us over the head with reference. me too was a huge thing talked about for over a year with many very powerful figures who got taken down. i feel like hawk tuah is not on the same scale and the fact they highlighted it in the trailer feels cringe to some of us. i'm sure there will still be funny moments in this season but for me these kind of references have gotten more forced in later seasons because to me, the show in general just feels forced and the characters don't flow organically off each other like they used to. but we can just agree to disagree since its a subjective thing

imo it's different to talk about trends because they tend to stay relevant longer. the hawk tuah girl had her fifteen minutes an entire year ago, apparently when they were writing the season. Memes age FAST these days. And FWIW I think all these sorts of internet age lines tend to age like milk, i.e. Dennis calling someone a beta cuck or whatever. Compared to the Me Too episode which was big for a couple years at least and has had continued effect on the public view of sexual harassment.

emiliemarie

yes you described it perfectly! the "phenomenon" on hawk tuah was everyone fed up and wondering how it was such a big thing. sunny shoe horning it in feels less like a social commentary on a trend and more like "how you doing fellow kids" lol that's why it seems to stick out so badly for me but i am looking forward to the new season

So not only did he replace his face with plastic but also changed his name. Dude really has become a bit of a Hollywood elite type.
