Cucumbers are in the curcubit family, so they are a kind of goard. They're just sweeter when picked young, so they generally aren't grown to that size. Zucchini also get huge and tougher left unchecked. Sometimes on the farm zucchini would get missed while harvesting and they could get two plus feet and like 6 in+ diameter.
