Last beta of the year is incoming ❗❗

Here you can leave ideas for small MC script additions in Our Life: Now & Forever. There are various guidelines for what is doable, though.

To start, I can't add new features, entire new scenes, concepts that'd have to be accounted for over the whole story of the game, or anything not script-based (e.g. art/music). What I can do is add in specific choices/reactions to specific scenes to add some extra fun and make the existing content more fitting to different MC types.

There's a lot of things the MC can theoretically do/think/feel in OL2; the dynamic settings, the MC's feelings on the move and house and town and school, if they're shy or rude or amiable with different people, if they break rules or not, if they're tidy/polite or messy/rowdy, and more.

I try to remember it all, but I'm sure there are situations where I don't give certain aspects enough attention. If you feel like there's pieces missing to complete the experience, you've got a chance say so.

Basically, I'm gonna do my best to have the game reflect a wide range of responses/emotions per scene, but I want to do that without the game's actual completion being delayed by weeks, months, or years by adding more and more totally new scenes/features to it, haha.

Comments usually don't get a reply, but that doesn't mean the suggestion isn't going to be added. However, if you don't read the guidelines and request something not possible, it also might not get a comment to explain that it's not going to be added. I'm afraid it's not always possible to keep up with everything people post. So please do read the guidelines!

Guidelines:

-Suggestions are for the script. You can express an interest in new art, features, music, etc. and I'll remember that as the type of things players would want if possible based on time/budget, but anyone can do that kind of post in any place and putting it here in the suggestion thread won't give it a greater chance of being possible.

-Suggestions can only be for the content that's available for players to test. I won't be able to keep up with requests that apply to theoretical future scenes that don't exist. To go along with that, suggestions can't be to completely remake a current scene in a different way or to fit in entire new scenes in between what's there. This also applies to requesting MC elements/additions that expand over the entire game. For example, you can't request that the game should start tracking what phrases the MC tends to use and have characters comment in the future on their common phrases. Suggestions are for just the current scenes and the content that's already being tracked.

-Suggestions are for the MC and general prose. I can't do requests to change how non-playable-characters behave/speak. They are who they are.

-Suggestions must be appropriate for the age of the MC and the overall 16+ rating for the game. I can't make the 10-year-old MC act like an adult, not unless it's framed as clearly a child who is trying to pretend as if they're grown up. And I can't put in a ton of bad language or adult topics, especially in Step 1.

-Suggestions don't have to be specific, but that greatly increases how likely it is that what you want will end up in the game. For example, commenting that you'd enjoy silly options is something I can keep in mind when working on the game, but may not come through that well. Saying you'd like an option where the MC can tell a joke on a specific choice menu in a certain scene will give me a lot more context on what to do.

-Suggestions can be too specific, however. I can't use comments where the player actually writes out MC dialog/prose and would like that added word for word into the game. The goal is for me to create what players enjoy, I don't want to outsource filling in the script to other people.

There's also a channel in the private GB Patch discord for submitting suggestions, if you prefer to chat there.

And that's everything. You're welcome to mention where you think the MC could have more reactions/responses and such!

Thank you for following OL2's development 💕

So honest question without any expectations since you guys already do amazing work and I can kinda see it not quite working but the way the mc reacts to certain things already in in various ways, but on the mc potentially having certain disabilities theater may render them mute or partially mute, rather than just shy or quiet, might not be the most interesting thing for most but I think it'd be nice to see represented if it could work at all, but I understand that could be a big addition rather than small responses or something like that.

I recently made the very shy quiet type and was just thinking the same. Having a mute character would be fun. There are a lot of silent answers you can give after all. So it would be interesting. c:

I know right? Although sometimes (I understand it is yet to be complete, the game that is) there is some default responses that end up with the mc talking or acting a tad differently than what you were playing towards. Like I love the ability to just roll rhy or quiet but just because a mc is quiet doesn't necessarily mean shy as well, and there is often some issues, like you can't quite have cheerful yet quiet work in all capacities.

There are a few things I'd like to see for existing scenes. I recently played through the previous beta a few times. As the previous person mentioned, the MC possibly having certain disabilities, like being mute, or stuttering. So maybe stuttering responses and certain responses that a mute person could do. I know that may complicate things a little, but from what I have seen, most silent responses are pretty good as they are, not too complicated, but get the message across. Could also possibly have the MC try to keep something on them like a notepad, or one of those write on and wipe away things to help with mute responses. But nothing too complex. But I am aware the whole writing things is Qui's thing, so I don't mind if it's not included. Another thing I'd like to see is. When going through the hide and seek scene and having Tam and Qui fighting, my MC was the silent and shy awkward type, scared of everything, so I made em run away. What I kinda wanted to see though, was em tripping on a tree root and falling flat on their face in the mud. I just feel that would be amusing and make the whole fighting with your poor awkward friend and them being stuck in the middle of the forest a little more serious. Maybe get a little scrape on their knee and have em choose to cry or not cry. In the prologue when asked what is wrong, I want my character to say school is boring, rather than being mad or sad or something. xD Last but not least, which may need more art, is a few more back hair options. Especially nicer longer hair options. That is just things I wouldn't mind seeing, but only if time and budget allows it.

Yeah, those default responses can be a bit like that. I do too. But yeah, my latest game I was gonna play is the silent but not shy type. So having em having a mute issue would be good. I understand that these kind of things have a bit more of a serious tone though, but Qui and Tam both change a lot in the step 2 preview, teenage things and all that.

I like how I'm not the only one thinking about a mute character. Well I want to say more person of few words. Like when the mc actually talk there shocked a little by it. But it's always nice to think on

Itachun

Oh yeah, having shocked faces when a silent type talks is always a good time. x3

When Opal and the Mc is waiting on the real estate person she tells the mc to go off and find something fun to do but not to wander off i do like the existing options but i thought to myself it would be cool if we can say yes mom or i wont but not really care about the rules the mc just decide to not tell their mom that:)

Obscurus Ciel

Okay, what I'm gonna say is child to 16+ A mean girl MC buuut....she isn't a mean girl she puts up a front because she isn't use to be emotionally vulnerable But of course your behavior towards your mom is still in your hands, MC can still be rude or (as I want to choose 😆) only open and sweet to mommy 😆

Psykes

For the Slumber Party Moment, when the MC is thinking about being at Tamarack's house (after Tamarack's Double Dare game), and how they feel about Opal being away from home, could the MC think to themself that while they really miss Opal, they are grateful to be able to sleep over with Tamarack and/or Qiu as one of the options?

Itachun

Maybe more Tsundere responses and kid trying to be an adult by copying the adults.

Could there be a sour candy option for favorites in Trick or Treat? Those have always been a favorite of mine
