Happy beta day! The first new Step 2 focused beta in ages will be going live shortly.

Here you can leave ideas for small MC script additions in Our Life: Now & Forever. There are various guidelines for what is doable, though.

To start, I can't add new features, entire new scenes, concepts that'd have to be accounted for over the whole story of the game, or anything not script-based (e.g. art/music). What I can do is add in specific choices/reactions to specific scenes to add some extra fun and make the existing content more fitting to different MC types.

There's a lot of things the MC can theoretically do/think/feel in OL2; the dynamic settings, the MC's feelings on the move and house and town and school, if they're shy or rude or amiable with different people, if they break rules or not, if they're tidy/polite or messy/rowdy, and more.

I try to remember it all, but I'm sure there are situations where I don't give certain aspects enough attention. If you feel like there's pieces missing to complete the experience, you've got a chance say so.

Basically, I'm gonna do my best to have the game reflect a wide range of responses/emotions per scene, but I want to do that without the game's actual completion being delayed by weeks, months, or years by adding more and more totally new scenes/features to it, haha.

Comments usually don't get a reply, but that doesn't mean the suggestion isn't going to be added. However, if you don't read the guidelines and request something not possible, it also might not get a comment to explain that it's not going to be added. I'm afraid it's not always possible to keep up with everything people post. So please do read the guidelines!

Guidelines:

-Suggestions are for the script. You can express an interest in new art, features, music, etc. and I'll remember that as the type of things players would want if possible based on time/budget, but anyone can do that kind of post in any place and putting it here in the suggestion thread won't give it a greater chance of being possible.

-Suggestions can only be for the content that's available for players to test. I won't be able to keep up with requests that apply to theoretical future scenes that don't exist. To go along with that, suggestions can't be to completely remake a current scene in a different way or to fit in entire new scenes in between what's there. This also applies to requesting MC elements/additions that expand over the entire game. For example, you can't request that the game should start tracking what phrases the MC tends to use and have characters comment in the future on their common phrases. Suggestions are for just the current scenes and the content that's already being tracked.

-Suggestions are for the MC and general prose. I can't do requests to change how non-playable-characters behave/speak. They are who they are.

-Suggestions must be appropriate for the age of the MC and the overall 16+ rating for the game. I can't make the 10-year-old MC act like an adult, not unless it's framed as clearly a child who is trying to pretend as if they're grown up. And I can't put in a ton of bad language or adult topics, especially in Step 1.

-Suggestions don't have to be specific, but that greatly increases how likely it is that what you want will end up in the game. For example, commenting that you'd enjoy silly options is something I can keep in mind when working on the game, but may not come through that well. Saying you'd like an option where the MC can tell a joke on a specific choice menu in a certain scene will give me a lot more context on what to do.

-Suggestions can be too specific, however. I can't use comments where the player actually writes out MC dialog/prose and would like that added word for word into the game. The goal is for me to create what players enjoy, I don't want to outsource filling in the script to other people.

There's also a channel in the private GB Patch discord for submitting suggestions, if you prefer to chat there.

And that's everything. You're welcome to mention where you think the MC could have more reactions/responses and such!

Thank you for following OL2's development 💕

I feel like there should be more crying or quiet options in the future cause some people like to play as sensitive or shy characters. I know we can’t request new content but it’d be cool if there was a scene somewhere before adulthood where either the mc, tamarack, or qiu got sick and the sick person would have to get taken care of or the sick people (if two was sick) would have the option to have a sleepover and stay together until they got unsick

I'm not sure this is where to put this, but it'd be nice to have a non-swearing MC not default to being offended at swearing, like with Serenity. I don't know if that counts as expanding the player tracking system, but I imagine my MC doesn't swear but also doesn't mind swearing - they'd either not notice it or find it funny.

When Tamarack and Qiu are debating about which was better, marshmallow or chocolate, could the MC be able to tell the two that "I like graham crackers, not because they taste better alone, but they help to make the marshmallows and chocolate taste even better together." A mostly quiet could 'You reached out to put a hand on Tamarack and Qiu, like each hand was a graham cracker, and Tamarack was a marshmallow and Qiu a piece of chocolate, and smiled.' ___ Is it possible for a s'more to be added to the MC character stickers?

When it comes to Secondary Language course selection, could we have the options to say either, "Where you lived before moving to Golden Grove, you've learned French/Spanish (player's choice), you'd like to continue learning that language." or "Where you lived before moving to Golden Grove, you've already learned French/Spanish (player's choice), but you wanted to start to learn an additional language, so you picked Spanish/French."

I'm not entirely sure if this suggestion fits the criteria? But, I wanted to put it out there anyway in case it does. I was wondering if it were possible to have the ability to have the MC question their gender(Just from Step 2- onward)? I.e. feeling uncomfortable subtly when called a certain gender or pronoun, being able to sympathize with Qiu but be unsure of themselves, or get more heated/upset when others say its 'only a (specific gender)' thing? I just feel like the options to have that subtle build up would be nice rather than just changing it in the in-between steps where things are just kind of abrupt? I think it would be fun to ask questions as the MC to both Tamarack and Qiu about how they feel about their own genders. I don't know, just putting this out into the aether. Its alright if its not a possibility. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Love the games.

It would be really cool if during the hobby/activity selection we could choose multiple hobbies to have for category. Like so instead of only reading manga or non-fiction, you could be an avid reader of both! I know it doesn't really impact the gameplay but I think it would be nice for storytelling/character building purposes :)

Could we add color guard or flag corps as an extracurricular? It's something I've took interest in during my high school years, and would love to see it as a choice in-game as well!

If the MC and Qiu are hanging out in his Secret Hideout in the Magic moment at Stage 1, and the MC is asked by Qiu if they knew about the Mid-Autumn Festival, could the MC be able to say, "No, but I'd like to learn more about it."

hello hello thank you for the hard work. If possible could we have the option to put our hood up while walking to school and it starts raining and tam gets her umbrella out and tells MC to share with her, but of course this would depend on what outer clothing MC is wearing. we'd basically just copy what Qiu does.

thank you for your hard work! i dont know if this is already an option, but on the "trick or treat" moment, when it said to get a candy apple to share i didnt see any chance to share with anyone. even if it would be flavour text, though, i would think itd be sweet to have a line for if you wanted to save it to share with your mom later.
