You don't like nostalgia?! Don't you know what kind of game you're in?

AHHHHHHH BAXTER ITS OKAY I LOVE YOU someday it'll be easier and you'll take joy in it. it'll be okay.

Peregrine Hawthorne

Oh no, Baxter might be my favorite. lol I feel so much the same way, and I bet it has to do with our shared experience in the parents department. Glad he gets the chance to feel good about it like we do. :'3

Avery

BAXTER LOVES US!!!!!!!!!!!!

Adam Snider

maybe he took the MC back to Golden Grove?

Tsuandgames

He’s to cute for his own good!!

arty

no he never goes back there in the events of OL1

Beanie

I mean I love them all but I've never felt like they were THE one for my MC Baxter just fits THE one to a T and I love that 🥲

Damien

I adore him what the heck

vinea

Same. I decided I like Cove and Derek better as my MC's friends but Baxter just hits right.

vinea

I love his expression here. It looks so soft.

Amorlea (Tawaci-TNW)

I'm curious about the context because it seems odd for him to not like nostalgia when he likes Black and White movies. Hmm.. 🤔 However, if MC is trying to rehash his past, he'd definitely be closed to it. From everything I've gathered so far about Baxter.

“it’s easy. it’s nice” stop it, that’s one of my favourite tropes… when two people feel comfortable with each other and things that felt difficult before are easy and comforting 🥹

Nostalgia isn't so much the act of liking older things as it is the will to return to that past period, being homesick for instance is nostalgic. One can appreciate something made outside of your time without wishing for it to be that time. I hope that helps.

Beanie

🤩 totally

GB Patch

Yeah, this is still in California!

Yeah, it seems to me he wants little to nothing to do with Golden Grove, any of the people he knew then. My guess is it may be because of how he felt at the time, and the social anxiety he had attached to the situation, the feelings he had projected onto others (that Autumn didn’t like him romantically so he must never allow himself to stay attached to others, in his mind he is never fated to be number one in anyone’s mind. And it’s probably something he’s wanted for so long he’s even scared at the possibility it might happen) But with MC his nostalgia and memories of the past seem to have no strings attached, at least not until “Drinks” where his other anxieties of being perfect get in the way.

ItaLii

I have a feeling all his childhood he associated with his anxiety and being not good enough. I think it’s really nice he can finally just enjoy his own nostalgia detached from what scares him. I’m glad the MC can help him heal in that way, even if he doesn’t realise it yet. I’ve experienced the exact same thing, of wanting to detach myself from old friends because the feelings and anxiety I had projected onto them had become so toxic for me. I suspect Baxter is going through the same thing.

Konoi Kurozora

Same here. It's been my feeling ever since I've started this game long ago, and these feelings only grew stronger with time. Makes it all the more interesting to play with a MC who only ever liked him, ever since that soiree in step 2

Aaah I can't even explain the feelings I'm feeling when looking at this screenshot! It makes me smile and makes my heart ache at the same time.

sakurras
