A new beta is coming 👀

Here you can leave ideas for small MC script additions in Our Life: Now & Forever. There are various guidelines for what is doable, though.

To start, I can't add new features, entire new scenes, concepts that'd have to be accounted for over the whole story of the game, or anything not script-based (e.g. art/music). What I can do is add in specific choices/reactions to specific scenes to add some extra fun and make the existing content more fitting to different MC types.

There's a lot of things the MC can theoretically do/think/feel in OL2; the dynamic settings, the MC's feelings on the move and house and town and school, if they're shy or rude or amiable with different people, if they break rules or not, if they're tidy/polite or messy/rowdy, and more.

I try to remember it all, but I'm sure there are situations where I don't give certain aspects enough attention. If you feel like there's pieces missing to complete the experience, you've got a chance say so.

Basically, I'm gonna do my best to have the game reflect a wide range of responses/emotions per scene, but I want to do that without the game's actual completion being delayed by weeks, months, or years by adding more and more totally new scenes/features to it, haha.

Comments usually don't get a reply, but that doesn't mean the suggestion isn't going to be added. However, if you don't read the guidelines and request something not possible, it also might not get a comment to explain that it's not going to be added. I'm afraid it's not always possible to keep up with everything people post. So please do read the guidelines!

Guidelines:

-Suggestions are for the script. You can express an interest in new art, features, music, etc. and I'll remember that as the type of things players would want if possible based on time/budget, but anyone can do that kind of post in any place and putting it here in the suggestion thread won't give it a greater chance of being possible.

-Suggestions can only be for the content that's available for players to test. I won't be able to keep up with requests that apply to theoretical future scenes that don't exist. To go along with that, suggestions can't be to completely remake a current scene in a different way or to fit in entire new scenes in between what's there. This also applies to requesting MC elements/additions that expand over the entire game. For example, you can't request that the game should start tracking what phrases the MC tends to use and have characters comment in the future on their common phrases. Suggestions are for just the current scenes and the content that's already being tracked.

-Suggestions are for the MC and general prose. I can't do requests to change how non-playable-characters behave/speak. They are who they are.

-Suggestions must be appropriate for the age of the MC and the overall 16+ rating for the game. I can't make the 10-year-old MC act like an adult, not unless it's framed as clearly a child who is trying to pretend as if they're grown up. And I can't put in a ton of bad language or adult topics, especially in Step 1.

-Suggestions don't have to be specific, but that greatly increases how likely it is that what you want will end up in the game. For example, commenting that you'd enjoy silly options is something I can keep in mind when working on the game, but may not come through that well. Saying you'd like an option where the MC can tell a joke on a specific choice menu in a certain scene will give me a lot more context on what to do.

-Suggestions can be too specific, however. I can't use comments where the player actually writes out MC dialog/prose and would like that added word for word into the game. The goal is for me to create what players enjoy, I don't want to outsource filling in the script to other people.

There's also a channel in the private GB Patch discord for submitting suggestions, if you prefer to chat there.

And that's everything. You're welcome to mention where you think the MC could have more reactions/responses and such!

Thank you for following OL2's development 💕

So excited!! And I was curious if it'd be possible for the characters to react to when MC has hair over their eyes like they'd see MC and ask "Can you.. see?" And the responses can go from a simple nod to a tragic "no I indeed cannot see" it's more on the silly side lol.

deathreaper

It would be funny for the MC to try and catch the frog when looking into the bush. Maybe getting dirty in the process and Tamarack can note that when you ask her how you look, and possibly brush you off? I really just kept thinking about gow I wanted to catch that frog lol

bezeo

a reference to HRT :3

Glitchy Pix

During the prologue, when the MC is meeting Mr. Lin for the first time, a more overtly negative reaction to meeting him would be useful. Maybe something along the lines of the MC thinking "do we have to meet more new people?" Additionally (though, I'm not sure if this falls too far under "concepts that have to be accounted for the whole story" to add, it's fine if that's the case), during the prologue (again), it would be nice if there was an option for an MC who doesn't look like Opal to be mad at their dad because they look more like him than their mom

batman

it would be cute if at some point MC links arms with either Qiu or Tamarack as they walk or something ! idk i just love the idea of linking arms it’s so cute☺️

Issues

During prolog 2, it would be nice to have an option to walk with our mode of transportations.

a reference about your hair changing color naturally or if you dyed it would be nice for step 2 prologue but it possible i missed that reference

since lip piercings are inconvenient to put on the mc dolls, do you think you’d put a test option instead. Like, you look in the mirror and there are prompts mentioning your other piercings or if you don’t have others it could just say ‘you’d gotten [piercing name] recently/a bit ago/a long time ago. idk ! even if it’s never mentioned again I just like making choices like that because it makes it more immersive.

Hiya My only suggestion/request is if it would be at all possible to add a Dark blue option in the character creator. If it's too difficult to add amongst the other colours then maybe it could be a preset colour like the cranberry? I think a dark blue option would contrast beautifully with the red-ish tones of the game and could be used as an almost black as well. Thanks so much for all your hard work <3

Psykes

If it's possible, it would be great if the darker shade of blue could be an option for the Blue colour choice, perhaps by clicking a check mark box to give you the choice of lighter or darker set of tint sliders?

Psykes

It was funny to be given the option of 'You still chatted a lot.'/'You were more silent now.', when my character was mostly silent (shy) during Stage 1 prologue and Walks. 😁 I know this is just a stand in until more work is done (i.e. the rest of the Stage 1 main Moments), but could there be an option for 'You started to open up more/wanted to be heard.'?

Psykes

When given the choice of mode of transportation to school, I could see two new options: 'You out-grew your old bike/scooter/roller skates, it was time to get a new one.' and 'You still would have had a bike/scooter/roller skates on the first school day of the year, if you didn't try that stunt involving a shaky ramp in front of your house last summer.'

?!? Crimes ?!?

It would be cool if we could have night time outfits that we could decorate and we had a sleep over.

DIALOG Step 1 Glaring or eye roll options would be good for a shy but mad MC (for example, Opal asks about MC's thoughts on the inside house. We have a stare, shake head, and nod options, but no mad or angry vibes). More rebellious or grumpy/rude responses: for example, after Opal says, "It's a safe town, especially in this area. You'll be able to play freely out here." and she asks you to stay in the area could be "I'll be fine/ I can take care of myself" Or 'You roll your eyes at that'. (Step 1 Opening Act) Qiu drops their papers; the option to immediately kneel/squat down to pick up the papers and hand them back (bashfully, laughing, smirking, smugly, happily, unimpressed) (perhaps a cute hand touch moment) Optimistic Options for feelings about moving to Golden Groves (maybe Mc disliked the last place they lived). 'It had to be better than the last place.' Maybe Mc had trouble at school, too, so that could cause them to feel nervous at the prospect of bullies or being isolated or maybe they'll be thankful to try a new school I think more homesick options would be good, too (i.e. missing old friends, school, and home). Mc might be open about missing home or inwardly upset. Being protective over Opal. Having only Opal Mc might feel a sense that they need to look after their Mom. (options like ' You didn't like the move, but you had to be strong/happy/brave for Mom'; 'This move was important to Mom, so you were willing to try';' Mom seemed excited for this move so you were too' Opal asks Mc's opinion on the house needs a couple more straight negatives: verbal ideas could be "It looks ugly/boring/dumb", "It looks haunted", "I want to go back home", "It looks better(/worse) in the pictures" also non-verbal could be 'You crinkle up your face in disgust, 'You glare at Opal. Obviously, you hate it.', 'You look at her in disbelief; how could she think/say that'. Asking Tamarack to come with you (and Qiu) to school needs a little more variety. The Dialogue with Qiu is pretty long, and it feels short with tamarack. Things like "Do you know how to get there?" "Where are you going to walk to school alone?". Just a little back-and-forth dialogue would go a long way. When you meet Qiu after class, and you talk about the fact you are sitting with Tamarack, a response like "I wanted to sit with you/ We wanted to sit with you" Nonverbal response when coming home after going to school. For example: 'You look around confused/curious. Nothing has been unpacked' Scared option for feelings about being in town: "Everything was so new", "You didn't want to get lost/separated"

?!? Crimes ?!?

It would also be cool if Tam and Qiu could scold Mc for making poor decisions.

?!? Crimes ?!?

Sorry, I’ll try not to to that again. But sleep over woooo!!!!٩( ᐛ )و

There's a new stretch goal ($250,000) in the Kickstarter for darker shades of the colours, so cool!

anasame

Could the MC maybe express an interest in archery? It's kind of rare to see in games that aren't action or survival based lol.

Psykes

When Qiu drapes themself on the MC, could the MC have the option to fall down (accidentally or on purpose)?

Venlamiila

I don't know if it goes into the "has to be kept in mind for the rest of the game" category, but could there be a dialogue option acknowledging if the MC's name also means something, like Qiu's and Tamarack's? One of my MC's name is a color, and even if it never comes up again, it would be nice to be able to contribute to that conversation c:

Psykes

Would it be possible to customize your backyard like the MC's bedroom, maybe as a stretch goal for Kickstarter? I can see options like a tent to hang out with Tam and/or Qiu, a tripod with camera or telescope (for bird-watching/observing nature), a small fire pit/campfire for roasting marshmallows/hot dogs/s'mores, etc.

I don’t know if this is the right place for a comment like this.

lmaoo sorry i just realized that when your character is ambidextrous and you get prompted to choose to write with your right or left hand, the left is on the right and the right is on the left
