Edit: I inadvertantly left this up as a "paid members only" post almost all day! That wasn't my intention, and was simply a mistake. I currently don't have plans to gate posts like that. I see that some people signed up today, maybe with the intention of seeing this post. I apologize to those people especially. As a way to make up for that, if anyone signed up today just to see this post, please reach out to me. I would like to give you a special sneak preview of my next project as an apology.

Good afternoon!

I am thrilled to finally be able to share with you the story that I spent all November working on.  Is it conceited to call it a novel? Maybe. But I think the story earns it on length alone. I never said it was a good novel!

It was a commissioned story, and in many ways it's unlike anything I have written before, so I am especially curious about any feedback, good or bad! Would you like it if I wrote more stories like this?

One thing I would like to pick your collective brain about in particular is how to release this story.

Normally for a story this length, I would split it into 4-5 parts. But there is a major issue with that here. The first fourth of the story is a fairly harsh cuckolding story. The latter three fourths is an enemies-to-lovers romance.

So if I release the first fourth as “part 1”, the people who might like the rest of the story could get turned off instantly. Then, the people who enjoyed the first part might expect the rest to be the same, and be disappointed when it's different.

The way I see it, I have three choices.

Release the story as usual, and trust the audience to see for themselves.

Release the story with an author’s note at the beginning, explaining what I said above.

Release the story in one big chunk in the “Novels/Novellas” section on Literotica.

What do you think?

Happy New Year, everyone! I know it's a very long story, but any reviews on what you think so far? I'd prefer to have some idea of if people like the story before going in blind and posting it. It's not to late to tinker with it a little if necessary!

Brightsun

I thought it was your best story

Happy New Year! As a form of the entertainment I'm here for, it doesn't tick the boxes of any of my personal interests. But, I did read it and, as a story, I actually became invested in it and enjoyed the read.

Aside from my review, I did spot a couple of errors. practiaclly but her couldn’t help it He found he lying back

Rabblelaid's Stories

Thanks for the review! Yes, I thought it was likely that some people would have this reaction: the story simply has a lot less kink than a lot of my other works. But it is encouraging that you found the story compelling!

I am still reading the story so I will reserve judgement for now. But I did want to comment on your worry about how to present the story. You have over 1350 followers on Literotica. That is a solid core of fans who will eagerly look forward to this story no matter in chapters or a complete opus. And for those new fans who might not read further after reading the 1st chapter. They will just have to wait to discover your writing talent.

Rabblelaid's Stories

That's very kind of you to say! I hope you enjoy the story. Opinion seems divided, but I've gone with the majority and submitted the first part to Literotica with a brief note explaining that the whole thing isn't a cuckold/humiliation story. Fingers crossed that it won't be the issue I was assuming!

I thought I would try something new, let me know if you want me to continue. I am only about 30 pages into the story and thought I would give my thoughts as the story unfolds. I like the premise. Unlike most hot wife/cuckold stories. Nina isn't starting on her journey because of bad sex but to be more assertive. Then, she falls in with Celine. (BTW, I feel sorry for Celine. She is a sad, lonely girl.) Nina gets a massive girl crush on Celine and the story unfolds. The sudden shift in Nina's demeanor is astounding and mysterious. But, it is a great way to get us into Seth's head. Neither of us can understand this sudden shift and coldness in Nina.

Rabblelaid's Stories

Love this! Please keep it coming if you have the time! It's great to get impressions as someone reads! I won't spoil things for you, but I am intrigued that you feel sympathy for Celine here. I was a little worried I made her way too evil.

Stephen Chilcote

I have read down to Seth opening the door and seeing Celine! Let's start with Nina. WOW, Celine may have cracked it open but once unleashed Nina took to the dark side like a duck takes to water. And you have foreshadowed that Nina may have gone full Sith Lord. Maybe she supplanted Celine as queen? Good to see that Seth isn't completely broken. You ask if you made Celine too mean. Let me tell you how I see Celine. She comes from rich parents, mostly absentee parents. Her beauty has been a blessing and a curse. Her wealth and beauty attracted too many too adult for the young girl. No love, just lust. She survived but the shell she built she wears to this day. Only dance is her true love. Her life right now is centered on that dance floor. Even sex pales in comparison. A lonely, entitled girl who has never known tenderness or a quite cuddle after sex. She doesn't even know what she is yearning for. Now, the question is how much of that is your writing and how much is my vivid imagination?

Stephen Chilcote

Just a quick thought. What if Celine and Seth find each other and Nina immolates herself in the dark void.

Rabblelaid's Stories

I think you have a good sense of the spirit of Celine's character, although the details are a little different!

Stephen Chilcote

I am down to the moment of catharsis between Celine and Seth. I cried! The building closeness between them was really fun to read. We could all see it coming I for one cheered. But UH OH, the Sith Lord has reappeared.

Stephen Chilcote

A+. A fabulous story. You have a marvelous way in investing us readers into your characters. Applause to whoever commissioned this story and hopefully helped you flesh it out.

Rabblelaid's Stories

Thank you so much for the kind words! It's the first story that I've written that I would classify as a full romance (Although Hottie in the Mirror certainly had heavy elements of that), so I was a little worried about being able to pull it off!

Awesome story, the characters felt fleshed out and real to me. Except for Nina and Tom, which were essentially just mustache twirling, shallow villains. The enemies to lovers development also felt fully fleshed out and real to me, or at the very least didn't feel like you haphazerdly threw it together, which I've seen in alot of other similar stories of reconcilliation. The quieter moments between the two was super cute and especially endearing to read, like how they both tried to deepen their knowledge of the others interest. Not to mention their character development was fairly spot on. Celines in particular. All in all, the only real negative in this story, to me, was that you didn't really involve Nina, Tom or the other side characters as much, but given the length of the novel, and the focus being the romance between the 2 leads, its understandable. And finally, (Light Spoilers) leaving us without showing what Ninas letter was about in the end was mean. I demand answers! (in a more serious note, that was a nice touch of showing us that they've fully moved on by the end). Looking forward to more of your stories, keep em coming! 4/5.

Rabblelaid's Stories

Thanks for the review! Glad you liked it! If I ever revisit this story, I think you are spot on: it could use more depth of the world, and show a little more about Celine and Seth's life apart from their direct interactions. That would give me a chance to flesh out side characters more as well. In my initial plot outline, Nina had sort of dethroned Celine in the club scene after the cuckolding event, becoming the new top dog. The commissioner was not especially interested in that plot direction, so it was cut. Exploring that idea a bit more could be an opportunity to develop her character. If you are interested, I could use my magical narrator omniscience to tell you the contents of the letter lol, but it could be better to leave it a mystery: Celine clearly thought so! Thank you again!

decaddy

Leaving us hanging at the end was deliciously painful! Not going to lie, but I would love to see the magical narrator omniscience to tell us the content of the letter. Great story!

Rabblelaid's Stories

Nina has become kind of a bitter, lonely person following college. Her new policy of putting her own pleasure above anyone else's gained her few friends, and her serial infidelity meant she has trouble finding a loving relationship. She blames Seth and Celine for this, naturally. The letter basically was a pitch for them to meet for coffee so Nina could apologize, but Celine's skepticism was well founded. It was really a ploy to get back into their lives and stir up drama. Maybe the most obvious answer, but it feels true to Nina's character.

Xehanort

Damn this was a good story. You're really good at writing romance, I hope you write more romance in the future.
