If we can paint the world only in black and white, which side will you be on? Are you a representative of the forces of light or darkness?

I would not limit myself to one side…

VitAnyaNaked

Oh man, I'm waiting for a long, reasoned answer from you. Come on. Expand the topic.

DravenSkier994

(Edit) Honestly, I can’t say. Because I don’t have a very good answer. I’m only a representative of myself, and at the end of the day, I’m only a WIP. Take Shakespeare: “If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not bleed? And if you wrong us, shall we not seek revenge?” Or something like that

DravenSkier994

Though I do hope the day never comes when and where I succumb to my own shadows… As per your question, I’d rather not take a side at all

VitAnyaNaked

In these Shakespearean lines, I read about a man whose position is rather reactive. He only answers when he is addressed, but never asks himself. That's a very accurate description for an NPC, but I guess not for a real person. I'm sure you're more proactive than you think.

DravenSkier994

I dunno. Maybe it’s better put like this: all I ever wanted comes down to two things; peace, and the freedom to make my own choices, my own mistakes and all that comes with them. It only feels like every time some progress is made, something always swoops in to derail the course

Bookish Keiran Discovers The World

I think that because I try to be kind to everyone and to animals it is likely that I am a good person, although sometimes I wear goth clothes so then I look very black. Lulu the cat thinks I'm a good one.

VitAnyaNaked

Gothic clothing, like any other style of dress or even the absence of it, doesn’t say anything about who a person truly is inside! Lulu is completely correct))

VitAnyaNaked

Of course, this is the law of entropy. Everything tends to chaos by itself over time. And we need to make great efforts to ensure that everything is in the order we have planned!

DravenSkier994

Exactly. I mean, it’s hard to not notice a pattern amidst the chaos. And every time it does happen, it’s a wonder you wanna keep trying at all. Plus, it doesn’t help when you can’t really tell the people in your life about it, not without expecting comparisons, lectures of others having it worse. I mean, I get it, I really do; some people are drowning in debt, others don’t really have a solid roof over their heads, let alone a decent bed. But all this doesn’t change the fact that we have our own issues to deal with. And, needless to say, while the world can be unforgiving, it’s that human touch from those we call family that make all the difference

Edward Richardson

We can only embrace the light if we have also confronted that dark part.

John

I have issues with brightness so I lean towards the P.M. and darkened areas...as for philosophy, I cannot lay claim to being smart enough to engage in that although I guess day dreaming and wishful thinking could be considered appropriate...as for engaging personnel and using the typical "howdy" and "how're y'all doing" I tend to use until I either know someone well enough to engage in otherwise mundane conversation or until the opposite party lends me an available topic to discuss that I wouldn't consider my reply as being rude to them....to answer the question directly, add me to Team Black...hope y'all are having a nice day by the way...

VitAnyaNaked

It's an interesting thought, but I'm not sure I understand it correctly. Can you write in more detail?

VitAnyaNaked

Well, I accept your answer! My day is great, thanks to you. And, yes, that's exactly what I'm talking about. There are a lot of people here, but I don't really know anyone here. There are several people who have told me about themselves, their past, their everyday life. But this is still not enough to communicate normally. That's why I plan to ask similar questions in the future. I really want to get to know all of you and maybe make friends!

Sayaman

I would be a representative of the light side, because if you look around in the media and listen around, there are far too many dark sides. There can't be just one side, neither light nor dark. One can only exist through the other.

Darth Revan (The first one, and unique one)

This not really that deep, for me as a kid and teen, I love to role play as sith or sram...becaus eit was fun being and edgy boy, just like butetr playing professeur chaos you know.. I was a nice welle ducated biy trying to express his darker emotions due to trauams and stuff... Now I cling to the light, but clinging to the light is so much harder... I understand soemtime fire must be fought with fire... I have a big understanding of teh rsatanic forces corruptong this world, as I am verse in history and anthropology... But sometime I loose hope and hope that somehow I will find a palce, that the eveil forces rulling teh world could stop pretending to be nice, and assume their degenrayc fully to the public... so I oculd bath in it with them instea dof having the life I wante dto live.

Darth Revan (The first one, and unique one)

I also want you to ask.. since I am udne rthe pseudo of Revan, the jedi that embrace the quest of pwoer and take teh title of darth and try to convert the republic into a rigid military emprie cappable of facing the true siths.. (He does create his own emprie teh stra forge empire but is unale to ocnquer the republic without destroying it too much as Malak betray him during an oppportine mommentwhen hsi flagship is boarded by a Jedi party. Malak brutal tactics will elave tehr epublic in shamble even after his empire is destroyed the sith lord will rise and rule the assassins and mruderers Revan employed will outlive him and bring the galaxy to it's knees. Woudl you describe power as bright of dark? To me power it like fire, it is bright and can bring warth and light as well as destruction but it need fuel sacrifice things that will be reduced to ashes consummed by it. SO in a sens it is bright, but like a beacon of light we are drawned to but only lead us to darkenss at some point. Butc na you blame teh weaks and opressed for seeking it? Even the wisest of men will be tempted by it as soon as they see a trheat they cannot comprehend or comprehend how too well how dangerous it is. So many naton founded on noble idea taht prevailed because of lies and crimes.... Corrupted at their birth by war for survival.... And you start to realise the world isn't black or white.

Mark Morton

This world can be a very dark place. I see the world as light, dark, and grey. I typically live in the grey. Not quite all light and not quite all dark. But if I had to choose between light and dark. I would choose light. You never know how much of an impact you might have on someone when you simply tell them "I hope you have a nice day" or a simple smile and say "good morning". We are all fighting the darkness in our lives. If you meet someone and they say the phrase "It is what it is". That person has seen a lot of darkness in their life and understand that some things are just a reality in life. So that being said, I would choose light. I would want to be in a place where my mind can be at ease and hopefully help others to achieve the same results.

Edward Richardson

As humans, we explore a variety of thought and emotions. We make decisions everyday that continually shape who we are and how we understand ourselves. It is simple to think we always make the "right" choices because we feel we are "good " people. Part of seeing ourselves as positive and right individuals. We all have a shadow side, a side where we fear to tread for it holds our darkest and most fearful versions of ourselves. We need to acknowledge that we have this shadow side. The shadow side of our personhood scares us,. It challenges us to "look behind the curtain" and see what lies and misconception we have about the world around us. It calls us to become authentic people, doing good not so we will receive rewards and praise but so we can know that we are making a conscious choice to move more toward the " good " choice knowing the temptation to make a choice that is only good for us. We have to move to unconditional love where we consider the effects of our choices on others. Sorry this is not a full explanation. See writings of Carl Jung and Soren Kirkegaard.

VitAnyaNaked

You're right that simple wishes and even banal politeness are often of great importance to people. I think this is because there is a very large shortage of kindness right now and we hear such words very rarely. I notice that very few people choose the bright side now. Perhaps because this path is much more difficult. Perhaps because it's fashionable to be a villain today. Perhaps they don't want their goodness to be perceived as weakness. Thank you for choosing to be on the white side!

VitAnyaNaked

Just because you want to be the opposition to the majority?

VitAnyaNaked

Yes, I understand your original comment better now. Have you ever thought about the fact that when making a choice, we always consider it "good" and "right"? But the people around us may not think so and view it as evil. For example, as a teenager trying to communicate with his classmate, he tries to joke / play / laugh, but the "victim" of his attention may evaluate this as bullying, ridicule, bullying. By analogy, this example can be applied to all ages and situations in life.

VitAnyaNaked

I agree with you about the family, but only partially. The family I was born into only created problems for me, not helped me solve them. This made me think that parents are mostly just random people, surrounded by whom you were born. You don't choose them. They don't choose you. It may happen that you will be further apart than strangers. It's good that we always have a second chance to create our own family and really actively choose who you want to live with for the rest of your life.

VitAnyaNaked

Even in fiction, most villains are absolutely sure they're right. With some assumptions, it is possible to understand their motives, goals, and actions. So it's unlikely that they consider themselves villains. I guess, in reality, it's about the same. You think someone is just pretending to be kind, but they really believe it.

Sayaman

no, because I prefer to be on the bright, level-headed side

Jere

defiantly light

John

I question why everyone considers dark to be bad or evil...I have to assume it is due to the entertainment and news focus beings...I like dark because it is quiet, cool, not bright on the eyes and a chance to not have to see all the ugly in the world...plus falling stars and moon eclipses are awesome...and dark is the time that most humans use to relax and rejuvenate for the next light of day....

DravenSkier994

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to paint my family like those you might hear about in Reddit stories. They certainly have their own issues, like me. I’m just saying that they don’t quite understand. I mean, Imagine telling them your issues or simply your day to day activities. It’s discouraging when they judge more than they listen

DravenSkier994

Blood is thicker than water, that’s what people say. I’ve heard that kindred blood isn’t sullied by water (the kind you’d see or use in baptisms), and if this is the case, surely it’s unaffected by money, worth, or what one brings to the table. Family, is more than blood. It’s a choice, a dedication, not solely a duty or responsibility. And it is the family’s job to not cast a shadow that one seeks to escape or destroy

VitAnyaNaked

I think this is because humans are a diurnal animal, even before the advent of speech or writing, we knew that we were safe and in control of our surroundings during the day, and the darkness of night was fraught with many dangers. Now the situation has changed, but the fear of the unknown darkness has not left us.

John

I remember as a kid I was afraid of the dark but it was because of all of the monster movies we watched...I was scared to death of vampires but then as a grownup in the military I learned that darkness can be an asset...then later I learned that it can be a good time to sit and have peace and quiet...

Bruce Cooper

Shadows have a way of softening truth, giving space for nuance to breathe. Too much light can indeed blind as it can flatten complexity, forcing everything into stark contrasts when life is rarely that simple. Those who stand closer to the dark often see more, not less — because they learn to read the subtleties, to discern outlines where others see only obscurity. The quiet patience of shadow allows for deeper reflection before action. I prefer the place where perception sharpens — not in glare, but in glow. The kind of darkness that isn’t evil, but contemplative. The space where you can see the light more clearly because you’re not standing directly in it.

Bruce Cooper

If the world were only black and white, I’d likely dwell at the border where they meet — the line that defines them both. Light reveals; darkness protects. One shows truth, the other hides mystery. Without each, the other loses meaning.

Bobby Moncrief

Im very much on the side of right, truth, locigal and trustworthy
