Those of you who have been following my page for a while probably know that every October I take part in Inktober, an annual drawing challenge for artists.

Each year, Inktober announces 31 themes — one word for each day of October. The idea is simple: create 31 artworks inspired by those words, interpreting each theme however you like.

To me, Inktober is a perfect demonstration of just how productive an artist can be when they set their mind to it. Sometimes, all it takes is a single day and a single word to create an interesting, finished piece of art. And that word can be absolutely anything!

For the past eight years, I've never failed to complete the challenge, creating all 31 artworks within the 31 days of October. Looking back, I can confidently say that Inktober has become one of the biggest driving forces behind my growth as an artist. October has consistently been my most productive month creatively.

2026 was no exception. Once again, I took on the challenge and spent the entire month drawing. You can find this year's list of themes and all 31 completed artworks attached to this post.

However, this year I decided to push myself even further. I wanted to make the challenge as demanding as possible, so I added a few rules of my own:

  1. Complete all 31 Inktober 2026 themes, as always.

  2. Raise the bar once again, making each artwork more detailed and polished than in previous years.

  3. Connect all 31 themes into a single cohesive concept, dividing the artworks into several categories: objects, characters, backgrounds, CG illustrations, and even a map.

  4. Turn all 31 artworks into assets for a visual novel set in Verges of Light (Грани света), an original fictional universe that Vitya and I are creating together.

So this year's Inktober wasn't just about creating 31 individual artworks. It was about bringing them all together to form something bigger — an entire world and a story within it!

The game will also be translated into English, and once it's ready, I'll share the link here. That way, anyone who's interested will be able to experience the story we've created!
