Wow, what an insanely hard choice haha. You NEED to watch Blade Runner at some point, of course. But my vote goes for Arrival. It was one of those movies that kind of changed the way my brain works, and made me fall in love with sci-fi all over again.

psst If you’re curious (and don’t already know), the movie is based off the Southern Reach book series by Jeff VanderMeer!!! the books are even more mind-bending and trippy, so if you ever want more I highly HIGHLY recommend the books

For the love of all things scifi. Do Arrival! EEAAO is ok ish. Arrival is a cinematic masterpiece!

EEAAO is def sci-fi, but reads more dramedy, heavy on the comedy part. You definitely need to see Arrival at some point. That's one of those "no other movie quite like it" type deals that leaves you thinking and feeling a little different about stuff once it's done.

Am I the only person who thinks that "Everything Everywhere All at once" stands out on this list as being RADICALLY outclassed by the other alternatives? It's probably getting a lot of votes for being the newest, but it doesn't even compare in quality to most of the others on this list!

Nahh EEAAO is absolutely also a cinematic masterpiece, easily one of the most original, creative, technically impressive, and emotional movies I've ever seen (I say this as someone whose favorite movie is Arrival lol)
