Chapter 609 - All-Seeing Eyes (Patreon)

Gandolf could not help complaining inwardly. What was Newton thinking, giving such a high-level ocular technique to Leyvi?
He immediately activated his own ocular technique and carefully observed Leyvi’s eyes. It was indeed his technique.
The meridian paths and energy distribution were correct, the nerve control was precise, and the eyes themselves were strong enough to withstand the stress. Leyvi executed it remarkably well.
What surprised Gandolf even more was that the complete pattern in Leyvi’s eyes showed he had fully mastered the technique. That meant he could already use every ability it contained. For some reason, Gandolf also felt that Leyvi performed it better than he himself did, though he could not pinpoint exactly how.
But how was this possible?
His ocular technique was called the All-Seeing Eyes. It was something he had developed in the past over several hundred years, born from his desire to see things that were hidden from ordinary sight.
It was both time-consuming and extremely complex to learn. It also placed a heavy burden on the eyes, especially at the higher levels.
Because of that, he had always recommended that cultivators wait until the Soul Formation Realm before beginning to practice it.
One of the abilities he used most often was the power to greatly enhance perception, allowing the user’s eyes to see beyond the visible spectrum.
Thanks to that ability, he had been able to perceive spiritual sense and become one of the few people who could confront Demoness Cocolia directly.
Fearing that another figure like Demoness Cocolia might appear in the future, after becoming a Protector, he had left the ocular technique at the headquarters. That way, others who worked under the Protectors could also learn it instead of keeping the knowledge only for himself.
But it was definitely not the right time for Leyvi to learn it yet because of how difficult the technique was. And yet here they were.
Gandolf knew Leyvi was an outstanding young man, but at the same time he was certain that this particular area was not where his greatest genius lay. So how had he managed to master the technique so quickly? So far, no one else besides himself had ever fully mastered it.
“Newton, did you personally teach him the technique?” Gandolf asked secretly through sound transmission.
Gandolf’s voice pulled Newton back to the present. It turned out that Newton was also completely dumbfounded by the scene before him.
The ocular technique he had given Leyvi did include Gandolf’s original version. However, it had been meant for him to study later in the future, not right away.
What Newton had actually wanted Leyvi to learn at present was the simpler specialized version designed specifically to see spiritual sense, the one he had prepared during the Spiritual Cultivation project.
Newton had studied and modified the original by removing the other functions, narrowing it down to only the ability to perceive within the wavelength range of spiritual sense.
This made the technique much easier to learn and placed far less burden on the eyes compared to Gandolf’s original All-Seeing Eyes, which contained multiple abilities.
It could be considered an entirely new ocular technique on its own, a standalone simplified method derived from Gandolf’s more complex one.
After all, Newton planned to commercialize this simplified version for the general public later. With the steady rise of Spiritual Cultivators across the continent, a technique like this had become very important.
Who would have thought that Leyvi had already gone and mastered Gandolf’s complete All-Seeing Eyes?
“Uhh… no. I didn’t teach him. But together with the simplified version I wanted him to learn, I did give him your complete version as well. Considering he is someone you once chose, I figured it would be fine to let him have it so he could study it in the future, even if he is not formally part of us. This outcome is still really surprising though…” Newton replied.
“Then… are you saying he learned it by himself?” Gandolf found it hard to believe.
“Well, who else could have taught him? Maybe your technique is simply extremely compatible with him,” Newton replied, his tone returning to normal. He did not dwell on the matter for long.
In his line of work, there were always numerous unexplainable situations. If he fixed his attention on every single abnormality, he would only end up falling down endless rabbit holes and make no progress on the things that truly mattered.
As much as Gandolf found it difficult to accept, he could not refute Newton’s reasoning.
How many times had his own eyeballs exploded in the past while he was creating this technique? How many times had they melted, along with countless other painful mistakes? The pain he had endured was beyond description.
The technique he had painstakingly developed over so many years had now been easily mastered by a young man.
He was supposed to feel happy about this, yet Gandolf could not help feeling a touch of nostalgia. Perhaps the times had already changed. The old were becoming outdated, and the young were simply better.
On the bright side, at least someone had already inherited his legacy. He no longer needed to worry that no one would carry it forward in the future.
Meanwhile, Leyvi was somewhat confused by the reactions from Gandolf and Newton. It was not only the two of them. Even the other Protectors wore expressions of mild disbelief, though theirs were far less pronounced.
Did I mess up the technique somehow? But Ava had already confirmed that he had mastered it. Or maybe I was never supposed to be able to learn it at this stage?
The All-Seeing Eyes technique he had learned was actually very similar to the Quantum Eyes that Ava had obtained from the Vision talent.
Everything the All-Seeing Eyes could do, Ava’s Quantum Eyes could perform even better and with greater range.
When Ava first obtained the Quantum Eyes, the abilities activated on their own depending on the situation. She had no manual to guide her and could only rely on her own understanding to explore how everything worked.
Fortunately, the All-Seeing Eyes technique arrived at the perfect time. It allowed Ava to study and grasp the underlying principles. Since she already knew instinctively how to use similar abilities, learning the technique became quite straightforward for her.
With that foundation, Ava began guiding Leyvi step by step. She demonstrated each stage of the technique in front of him, carefully pointing out the correct meridian pathways, the precise way to circulate energy through the eyes, and the subtle adjustments needed to keep the burden manageable.
Whenever Leyvi struggled with a particular portion, she would slow down and show him again from a different angle, sometimes even letting him observe the flow of energy inside her own eyes. Because of her patient explanations and repeated demonstrations, Leyvi was able to master the All-Seeing Eyes technique in a relatively short period.
Unfortunately, no other member of the Leyan Family could learn it for the time being. Their eyes were simply not strong enough to handle the heavy burden. Unless they practiced body cultivation, they would need to wait until their overall cultivation was much higher.
Caterina might have been able to learn it, but she was currently focused on comprehending the Yin-Yang concept. She could not afford to take on something else right now.
That said, they could definitely learn the simplified version that had come together with the full technique. At the very least, it would allow them to perceive spiritual sense, which had become quite useful in recent times.
“Senior Newton, is something wrong?” Leyvi asked, unable to hold back his curiosity any longer.
Newton thought for a moment and decided to tell him the truth.
“So it really was meant for me to learn much later…” Leyvi smiled wryly.
No wonder they had all looked so surprised. Shit. Are they going to start thinking of me as some kind of extraordinary genius now? Please don’t misunderstand.
Leyvi prayed silently.
He already had enough unwanted attention on him. He did not want any more. The only reason he had been able to learn the technique so smoothly was because of Ava and her incredible Quantum Eyes, not because he was some kind of genius.
But there was no way he could explain that to them.
So he could only pretend that he had simply been incredibly lucky to learn the technique so smoothly. Things like that did happen from time to time, after all.
Thankfully he had kept his sense blocker active the entire time. Even if someone tried to check his soul fluctuations, they would not be able to detect the lie.
After learning the truth, Leyvi’s respect for Gandolf also grew. The old man had created a technique that came very close to the abilities granted by the Talent Bead. How could that not be considered amazing?
The introductions continued.
Gandolf pointed toward a Protector Leyvi had only met a short while earlier, a beautiful middle-aged woman still dressed in widow’s attire.
“You already met her outside the city. She is Protector Fiona, the Formation Queen who leads the Array Formation Association, an organization similar to the Alchemy Association.”
Leyvi nodded to her respectfully. He was familiar with the Alchemy Association because of Anda, but they had never really interacted with the Array Formation Association.
“Don’t forget to introduce my husband too, Gandolf,” Fiona suddenly said.
Gandolf could not help rolling his eyes, but knowing her personality, he still introduced her late husband to Leyvi. He had been known as Formation King Damian.
Leyvi smiled warmly at that. He actually liked Protector Fiona’s personality quite a bit.
Even long after her husband’s death, she still made sure to bring him up so that people would not forget him.
He could not help thinking about himself and Anda for a moment. If he somehow passed away, would Anda end up like Fiona?
Leyvi quickly shook his head inwardly. No, no, no. She would probably aim for world domination instead. So he absolutely could not die, no matter what.
