Leyvi shook his head inwardly.

No. That can't be. Just because someone is obsessed with cultivating quickly doesn't mean their cultivation will magically become faster. They are still bound by their talent and other external factors.

Then... perhaps it was her extraordinary cultivation talent that caused her abnormal fixation on cultivation speed.

Leyvi settled on what seemed like the most likely explanation.

"What are you talking about, Geezer Newton? I'm a little strange? How so? Cultivation speed is very important, isn't it?" Alexandra argued.

"Hahaha. That isn't the problem, Little Alexandra. The problem is that you're trying to impose your fixation on someone else. Not everyone has talents like you. Correction, nobody else has talents like you. They can't just blitz through cultivation like you did." Newton replied.

He was somewhat worried that when Alexandra eventually took disciples or had children of her own, they might be subjected to impossible cultivation standards because of her personality.

However, that wasn't really the biggest concern. What he and the others were truly worried about was Alexandra's own future.

She simultaneously possessed a Legendary Grade Spirit Root and a Unique Heavenly Body that provided incredible support and accelerated her cultivation.

She could simply speed through each realm without worrying much about stabilizing her cultivation. Her Unique Heavenly Body allowed her body to make instantaneous adjustments as her strength increased too quickly, meaning she never had to worry about physical bottlenecks.

What took them around a thousand years to reach the Soul Transformation Realm, she had accomplished in only a hundred years.

She was truly a godly talent blessed by the Heavens.

So far, Alexandra had reached this level without much trouble, largely because the existing cultivation guidelines had already established a correct path for her to follow.

But things would be different from now on.

Their current level was the peak of the continent. No one in the continent's history had ever successfully gone beyond it, which meant there was no proper guidance for breaking through to the next realm.

They would have to become pioneers themselves.

However, Alexandra's cultivation speed had eclipsed everyone else by such a huge margin that it was highly likely she would reach the peak of her realm long before the others and attempt the breakthrough without any proper guidance.

That was what worried them the most.

Her abnormal fixation on cultivation speed made it almost impossible to convince her to slow down and wait until proper breakthrough guidance became available. She would probably attempt it and try her luck anyway.

If she somehow succeeded, it would be the greatest joy the continent had ever experienced.

But if she failed and perished, which was far more likely, it would become a massive tragedy. Losing the next generation's Protector at such a young age would be a devastating blow to the continent.

All the old Protectors were unwilling to see that happen.

There was actually a way to solve this problem.

They could meet with the Dao Manifestation Realm experts from the Protogaea Continent and ask them for guidance on breaking through.

But would those experts be willing to reveal such knowledge? Probably not without demanding a huge price in return.

They might even ask them to sacrifice their freedom in exchange for the guidance, which was something the Protectors were unwilling to do.

They had spent their entire lives fighting for freedom. How could they give it up now?

“I’m not imposing anything. I’m just asking a question. Hmph, you geezers just want to bully me. Whatever. I don’t care about him anymore. He can slack off on his cultivation all he wants. Not my problem.” Alexandra retorted, pouting slightly.

When she was younger, her master had often brought her along to visit the other Protectors just to show her off. Because of that, she had always been familiar with them. Unfortunately, that familiarity also meant they still called her Little Alexandra and treated her like a child.

It would have been one thing if they only did it in private. But they continued calling her that even in front of the Envoys, which was embarrassing. She was already over a hundred years old, after all.

On the other side, Leyvi was left speechless by her retort.

Why am I the one getting blamed? And when exactly did I slack off on my cultivation? Senior Newton already explained that I have been focusing on Spiritual Cultivation. This woman not only cultivates at an absurd speed, she is also remarkably quick to deflect.

“Alright, alright. Don’t bully Little Alexandra too much. If she starts crying, old lady Wan Hua will come and beat us. I don’t want to get beaten, so let’s move on,” Gandolf said, half serious and half teasing.

Alexandra’s lips twitched again. This geezer…

“Now, let me introduce this young man to all of you. His name is Leyvi Leyan. Over two decades ago, I granted him the Deed of Sovereignty, making him the lord of the Bara region,” Gandolf finally introduced Leyvi properly.

Huh? Leyvi Leyan? Sugaro suddenly remembered something.

“Wait a minute, Gandolf. Isn’t that the name of the kid you wanted to succeed you? Is this him?” He took a big bite of his sugarcane after asking.

He had never seen Leyvi in person before, so he only made the connection after Gandolf spoke the full name.

“Hoho. I did have that plan in mind, but the kid has rejected me,” Gandolf revealed.

The other Protectors were quite surprised to hear this. There was actually someone who would turn down an offer like that?

Being chosen as a successor did not guarantee that a person would definitely become a Protector. At the end of the day, sufficient personal strength was still a mandatory requirement. Without power, one could not protect anything.

However, a potential successor chosen by a Protector enjoyed the privilege of the best cultivation resources, the finest training environments, and guidance from the best possible mentors. There was also the elevated status that came with the position.

Even if they ultimately failed to reach the level of a Protector, they would still end up far better off than they otherwise would have been.

That was why it was so surprising to hear that a young man had rejected such a tremendous opportunity.

“Kid, why did you reject Gandolf? Do you want to be a villain or something?” Tiger asked. His thunderous, hoarse voice made it sound as if he were interrogating someone.

Leyvi was left speechless for a moment.

How does refusing to become a Protector automatically make me a villain? Just because I don't want that responsibility doesn't mean I want to become the opposite. Well… if there was ever a chance of me turning into a villain, it would probably be because my villainous panda wife had completely pandawashed me.

Thankfully his children were not present right now. Protector Tiger’s voice was definitely loud enough to terrify all children and give them nightmares.

“Senior Tiger, if I wanted to become a villain, I wouldn't have walked into your stronghold like this. My villain career wouldn't last very long,” Leyvi replied in a joking tone.

Tiger blinked, then let out a loud laugh. “Gagaga! Kid, you dare joke with me? Most people would have pissed their pants just facing me.”

“I’ve been in scarier situations than this. Senior Tiger, you’ll need to do better if you want to make me piss my pants,” Leyvi said, shaking his head.

“Oh? What kind of situation? I doubt you’ve seen anything worse,” Tiger raised an eyebrow in curiosity.

Alexandra shook her head and criticized Tiger inwardly.

Geezer Tiger, haven’t you been paying attention? He’s a survivor of the Mystic Realm expedition. Of course he has seen plenty of terrifying things.

“My angry wives are scarier,” Leyvi replied with a completely serious face.

“Pfft!” Alexandra and several others nearly spat. They were completely caught off guard by his answer.

Pieces of half-chewed sugarcane also flew across the round table. Qi barriers of various colors instantly formed to block the fragments from landing on anyone.

They were, after all, the highest-level cultivators on the continent. No one usually dared to crack such a blatant joke in front of them.

“Sugaro! What do you think you’re doing, spitting your food at us like that? So gross!” Fiona scolded.

“Ahem… it’s not my fault. This kid caught me completely off guard,” Sugaro replied awkwardly, glancing at Leyvi.

This kid is really something, he thought.

A moment later, all the scattered pieces gathered around Sugaro and disappeared.

“Hmph. Trying to blame it on the kid now? Aren’t you shameless?” Fiona said.

She looked at Leyvi with even more fondness than before. Her late husband used to make the same “my angry wife is the scariest” joke.

“Gagaga! Kid, I really like you. You rejected this old Gandolf because he’s useless, right? How about you train under me instead? I can make you the strongest under my guidance,” Tiger said.

“Tiger, you’re not even the strongest one among us. Where did that cheap promise come from? Only the strongest can raise the next strongest,” Voltroze chimed in.

The atmosphere around the table grew noticeably more lively because of Leyvi.

Gandolf let out a quiet sigh as he watched the scene.

He did not want to disturb this pleasant atmosphere, but now that the introductions were finished, it was time to deliver the bad news.
