Chapter 630 - Language Teacher (Patreon)

“Well, maybe he simply got bored of Cloud Continent and wanted to experience something new. Old Lady Wan Hua was like that. After Little Alexandra took over her position, she left the continent almost immediately. I still wonder how she is doing now,” Jade said.
“So, Sister Jade… can I buy a spatial bead?” Leyvi asked again, bringing the conversation back to his request.
Jade looked up at him with a slight smile. “Well, normally nothing in this vault is allowed to be sold to anyone. But since I make the rules, I can allow an exception. How much are you willing to pay?”
“How much?” Leyvi had not expected the question.
How much was a spatial bead actually worth? He had no way of knowing.
“If this bead ever appeared on the market, even a single one would be worth no less than fifty large airships,” Jade revealed.
“Fifty…” Leyvi was genuinely surprised. He had not expected a single bead to be that expensive.
With the Leyan Family’s current wealth, he could afford it without difficulty, yet he did not want the family to appear overly wealthy in front of others.
“Can it be paid in installments?” he asked.
“Hehehe. Are you seriously considering this?” Jade asked, clearly amused.
Leyvi blinked. He did not see what the problem was. Did she think he was only joking?
“Are you really going to spend that much for your wife?” Jade continued, her tone carrying a note of concern. “That’s a great deal of money, you know. All of it just for the mere chance of contacting her ancestor again. The juice may not be worth the squeeze.”
“Hahaha. It’s not really a difficult squeeze. We already have a steady passive income at home. All we have to do is wait for the money to come in. Even if we were poor, I would still try to get whatever my wives needed whenever the chance appeared. In this case, the spatial bead is something that cannot be found anywhere else, so how could I miss it?” Leyvi replied.
Jade blinked for a few seconds, then let out a soft sigh. “No wonder you already have so many wives while still so young. Anda’s pandawashing alone isn’t enough to make all those girls marry you, and your looks aren’t handsome enough to attract them either. It must be that husband aura of yours that draws them in, whether they realize it or not.”
Leyvi’s mouth twitched. Can you leave my average face alone? And what in the world is a husband aura? Do I emit husband particles or something?
“Leyvi, all of my disciples need a husband like you. How about you accept them all? It would make things much easier for me if they shared the same husband,” Jade suggested with a mischievous smile.
Leyvi nearly lost his balance. How would them all marrying me make anything easier for you? He completely failed to see the logic.
Jade laughed at his flustered reaction.
“Hehehe. Jokes aside, your Big Sister isn’t going to charge you for the spatial bead,” she said.
“Not charging? Is it really fine to give it to me for free, Sister Jade?” Leyvi asked, taken aback.
“What are you saying? You have already given so much for our continent. The information you brought, the risks you took, the help you continue to provide… all of that is worth far more than a single spatial bead. How could I ever ask you to pay for something after everything you’ve done?” Jade argued firmly.
Additionally, from now on, Lapin’s power would be integrated into all of Cloud Continent’s essential communication systems, especially those that had previously required spatial beads.
This arrangement was part of the cooperation agreement they had made with Lapin. Of course, it applied only to essential functions such as continental administration and security, never to commercial use.
Even so, his power would never completely replace the existing communication systems. No matter how small the risk, the possibility that Lapin might one day turn against Cloud Continent still existed. The Protectors could not afford to place the entire continent’s critical communications entirely at the mercy of a single being, no matter how cooperative he currently appeared. Absolute dependence was simply too dangerous.
Instead, the spatial beads would serve as the permanent fail-safe for any situation in which Lapin’s power became unusable. As a result, the actual consumption of spatial beads would drop to nearly zero until something happened to Lapin’s ability. The long-term savings would be enormous.
Because of that, Jade saw no problem at all in giving one spatial bead to Leyvi.
She then disabled the security on the space bag, took out a single spatial bead, and immediately secured the bag again in its original place.
“Oh right, wait a second. There’s one more thing I want to give you.” Jade said, then disappeared from Leyvi’s sight.
Through his spiritual sense, Leyvi noticed that she had reappeared in the personal belongings section, where she undid the security of a particular space ring.
“Vulcan Orebender’s space ring?” Leyvi was surprised. He had not expected the belongings of Sawi’s ancestor to be stored here.
A moment later, Jade returned to him, holding both items with an easy smile.
“Here. You can give both the space ring and the spatial bead to your wife. Inside the ring are the unowned belongings of her ancestor that we recovered from various places across the continent over the years. Normally, I would never do this, even if we managed to locate the descendants of past famous figures. Those items stay sealed for a reason. But since I’m your Big Sister, you get special treatment.” Jade placed the spatial bead and the space ring into Leyvi’s hands with clear deliberate warmth.
Leyvi blinked. It seemed Jade truly enjoyed playing the role of Big Sister.
He gathered his thoughts and carefully inspected the space ring. It was filled with many weapons and artifacts of varying tiers. Among them were three tier-5 spirit weapons.
A sickle, a boomerang, and… a fishing rod?
Leyvi stared at the three weapons for a long moment, completely baffled. Who in their right mind would forge a tier-5 spirit weapon in the shape of a fishing rod? Counting the metal bat he already owned, there were now four thoroughly unconventional tier-5 weapons in existence. Vulcan’s design preferences were stranger than he had ever imagined.
Now that he thought about it, Sawi also had a clear tendency to create strange things. The holy rod artifact was one obvious example. Perhaps this peculiarity simply ran in the family.
His own metal bat could put living beings to sleep with a single solid bonk. He couldn’t help wondering what unusual effects the other three weapons might possess. He had a strong feeling they would be anything but ordinary.
This was not the time to experiment with them, however. He had more important matters to handle right now. Leyvi carefully stored both the space ring and the spatial bead, then turned to Jade and expressed his sincere thanks.
Soon the two of them arrived at the ancient civilization section. Everything related to that long-vanished civilization was kept here, whether it contained ancient texts or not.
“We have a great deal about the ancient civilization stored in this section,” Jade explained as she gestured around them, “but keep in mind that this is definitely not all of it. A small portion is held by other parties who found the items through their own means or acquired them by other methods. We also firmly believe there are still many remains and relics scattered across the continent that have yet to be uncovered. What you see here is only what we have managed to collect so far.”
Leyvi looked over the vast collection before him. Tens of thousands of space bags and space rings filled the shelves in neat, endless rows. Each one was clearly labeled with the date and location where it had been found. The ones stored inside spatial rings almost certainly contained larger or more numerous items.
The sheer quantity was almost overwhelming. Row after row stretched out in every direction, making it difficult to even estimate the true number at a glance. He could not begin to imagine how long it would take him to go through all of them alone.
More importantly, he had no confidence that he was smart enough to piece the clues together and conduct a proper investigation on his own. He wasn't Mr. Bison, but he was also nowhere near as smart as a scholar.
That was why he had already decided it would be much faster to teach others the ancient language and let them help him gather clues. He would become a language teacher.
He had requested Jade to bring over the greatest minds available as soon as possible so they could learn the language and assist with the work.
In the meantime, he would do his best to study all the available materials and figure out the true structure of the ancient language. Just because his ability allowed him to automatically translate any language did not mean he actually understood it on a fundamental level.
In order to teach others, he first needed to properly learn it himself with the help of Universal Language benefit.
“If these aren’t enough, I’ll arrange for people to gather more,” Jade added.
Leyvi smiled. “I think there are already enough materials. But just to be safe, please do.”
“Then please learn it as soon as possible. We’ll be counting on you,” Jade said.
“Don’t worry, Sister Jade. Leave it to me. I won’t disappoint you.” Leyvi thumped his muscular chest with confidence.
“Hehe. So confident. Your Big Sis likes it.” Jade giggled and turned toward the exit.
Leyvi chuckled at her response. If it were the ability to investigate, he would have had no confidence at all, no matter how much time he was given.
But if it was simply studying a language, how could he not be confident? With the internal storage room he possessed, he could effectively cheat time.
No matter how slow his brain might be, he would eventually learn the language.
Suddenly Jade turned around again, a mischievous smile already on her face. “Oh right. Among the smart people you asked for, a few of them will be my disciples. I wouldn’t mind if you gave them some babies.”
Leyvi nearly lost his balance. This woman… isn’t she just an older version of Anda?
