Chapter 640 - Legendary Banana (Patreon)

“We wait for the legendary bananas to ripen first. When the bananas show up, can you use your spatial technique to grab them away, little guy?” Jade asked Stripey.
“Umm!” Stripey nodded firmly. He was going to take them even if no one told him to. He was not going to miss a legendary banana.
Jade smiled and then shifted her gaze to Leyvi. “Then after that, we lure that General Level demonic beast away from this area. It should get angry after we steal the legendary bananas. You will fight it elsewhere. We don’t want this banana forest to be destroyed as a result of the fight, after all.”
“Do you know when the bananas will ripen, Sister Jade?” Leyvi asked.
“The window should be soon. Two days later at the earliest. But if it still hasn’t blossomed after a month, that means something went wrong this time. Even if we pry it open forcefully, it won’t produce the legendary ones," Jade replied.
“You seem to be very familiar with all of this.” Leyvi said.
“Hehe. What do you know? When I was younger, I explored the continent a lot. Treasure hunting like this used to be my hobby. That is, until the continent became chaotic. One thing led to another, and then… I was trapped in the headquarters, like a caged bird. Oh my woes…” Jade became overly dramatic at the end.
Leyvi sighed inwardly. Jade had turned her personal experience into a joke, but it was obvious she had endured a great deal.
Putting the well-being of other people first before herself was something he still could not fully understand. Family and friends made sense. But strangers? Why go so far for them?
Afterwards, Leyvi, Jade, and Stripey waited patiently for the legendary bananas to ripen.
With nothing else to do, Leyvi observed everything happening within the range of his spiritual sense.
Excluding the demonic monkey in the banana forest, there were three other general-level demonic beasts in the surrounding forest.
Surprisingly, he also spotted an Elder Level demonic plant, which was equivalent to General Level, occupying a separate area of its own.
This made it only the second time he had ever seen an Elder Level demonic plant, the first being Miss Misty.
To be honest, he had completely forgotten about the demonic mistletoe and had no idea what had become of her after she became Lilian’s spirit plant. The thought made him pause for a moment. He could only guess that she was living quite well in Lilian’s magical garden, growing stronger day by day. With Miss Misty now among the ranks, he could easily imagine how formidable Lilian’s demonic plant army must have become.
A day later, the relatively peaceful atmosphere was broken when a fight between two General Level demonic beasts broke out in the distance.
The earth-shaking battle between the two creatures took place several dozen kilometers away, yet the impacts still reached them clearly. Trees trembled, the ground vibrated, and waves of overwhelming bloodline aura swept across the area one after another.
All the other General Level demonic beasts nearby turned to face the direction of the fight, but they stayed firmly within their own territories, watching without interfering.
From what he observed, the fight appeared to be a territorial dispute. One of the demonic beasts had not been among those he had seen the day before. It must have come from somewhere else, hoping to claim the land.
Clashes like this were probably a common occurrence within the humanless region.
Not long after, the outcome was decided. The intruder demonic beast lost and retreated with severe injuries, leaving a trail of blood behind it.
However, before it could go far, numerous thorny vines burst out of the ground without warning. They wrapped around the beast in an instant and gripped it tightly with deep, hooking thorns that sank into flesh. Then the vines began dragging it away with relentless force.
Agonizing roars echoed all the way to where Leyvi stood. Stripey’s fur stood on end. The little monkey let out a panicked “Umm!” and immediately dove into the spirit beast bag, refusing to come out.
Leyvi watched as the injured beast was dragged more than thirty kilometers without any chance of escape, its struggles growing weaker the farther it was pulled.
The perpetrator was none other than the Elder Level demonic plant.
Once the demonic beast was dragged to the demonic plant’s main body, its body was immediately minced, reduced to nothing but pieces of flesh and blood. The demonic plant then used that flesh and blood to nourish the soil around where it stood.
Just like that, a General Level demonic beast died in a gruesome manner.
Leyvi stared for a moment, genuinely taken aback. He had not expected to witness a General Level demonic beast fall so easily, almost without any real struggle once the vines had it.
“Interesting. One actually died. Although it doesn’t happen every day, clashes like that occur regularly. However, death at this level is actually quite rare. Most of the time the loser simply retreats with injuries and lives to fight another day. Seeing one get finished off so cleanly is unusual," Jade commented.
“That demonic plant is more terrifying than I thought. I wonder how far its thorny vines can stretch out?” Leyvi said.
Seeing this, he began to worry that his later fight might get interrupted by the demonic plant.
“Eh? You can see that far? How far is your spiritual sense range?” Jade seemed surprised.
“About sixty kilometers," Leyvi replied. He did not mind revealing it to her.
He had managed to extend his spiritual sense range by another ten kilometers during his seclusion.
“Sixty kilometers? That’s even further than mine!” Jade’s eyes widened slightly. “I thought you had half of that range at most, and I already thought I was overestimating it. Turns out I was completely wrong. You’re really an abnormal one.”
“I don’t think it’s related to cultivation or any treasures. It just happened one day when I was still a Foundation Building Realm cultivator. It went from one kilometer to ten kilometers all of a sudden," Leyvi explained.
“All of a sudden, huh.” Jade seemed to be thinking about something.
“Does Sister Jade know something?” Leyvi asked, hoping she might have an answer. He also wanted to understand why it had happened.
“Not really, but I’ve seen several records mentioning people who had the same experience as you. Their spiritual sense also expanded several folds all of a sudden," Jade revealed.
Leyvi’s eyes brightened at once. The idea that others had gone through the exact same sudden expansion made him sit up a little straighter. Maybe those records held the answer he had been looking for all this time.
“Can I see them?” he asked, unable to hide the eagerness in his voice.
“In the past I didn’t take it seriously, so I never looked at the details. But if you want, we can look them up together once we return. Now that my little brother has the same experience, how can I dismiss it as nonsense anymore?” Jade said with a smile.
“Then I’ll be relying on you again, big sis.” Leyvi replied, fully settling into the younger brother role and even matching the tone. The words came out more naturally than before.
“Of course! Leave it to your big sis!” Jade’s expression lit up with clear satisfaction. The fact that Leyvi was becoming more and more comfortable calling her that clearly pleased her a great deal.
…
On the fourth day, right after sunrise, the atmosphere surrounding the giant banana tree began to shift. A subtle pressure filled the air, as if the tree itself were preparing for something important. Even the surrounding demonic plants seemed to grow quieter.
“Sister Jade!” Leyvi said, looking at her face.
Jade smiled. “It’s here! This is the sign that the legendary bananas are about to appear. Little monkey, get ready. It’s going to happen at any moment.”
“Um!” Stripey replied confidently.
His small hands were already aimed at the banana blossom, ready to snatch the legendary bananas the moment they appeared.
As for Leyvi, he kept his attention fixed on the General Level demonic monkey, preparing himself for the fight once they lured it away.
The banana blossom trembled.
A faint golden light began to seep through the seams of its petals, pulsing gently at first, then growing brighter with each passing breath. The surrounding banana trees, those massive demonic plants that had been wandering aimlessly, all stopped in place. They turned toward the giant tree at the center of the forest, their movements synchronized as if paying homage to something sacred.
The ground beneath the banana forest began to hum, a low vibration that spread outward in waves. The demonic beasts lurking in the surrounding forest grew restless. Some retreated deeper into their territories. Others crept closer, drawn by an instinct they could not resist.
Leyvi watched with his spiritual sense. Every creature within sixty kilometers was reacting to the phenomenon. The three other General Level demonic beasts had all turned toward the banana forest. Even the Elder Level demonic plant had extended some of its thorny vines in this direction, though it did not move from its territory.
“They can all feel it,” Leyvi muttered.
“Of course.” Jade nodded. “The legendary banana is a treasure that even King Level demonic beasts would covet. Every creature here knows what is about to happen. The only reason they are not rushing in is because they fear each other. And the monkey.”
Leyvi’s mouth twitched. They were scared of the monkey? Was she telling him that it was the strongest among them? Couldn’t she have let him fight the weakest one first?
It was already too late for him to complain.
The banana blossom began to open.
Slowly. Petal by petal.
The golden light intensified, spilling out of the blossom like liquid sunlight. The air around the giant banana tree shimmered, and a sweet, intoxicating fragrance spread through the forest. It was so thick that Leyvi could taste it on his tongue.
“Now!” Jade shouted.
Stripey did not hesitate.
A ripple of spatial energy flickered around his small hands. The next moment, a bunch of bananas glowing with the same golden light as the blossom vanished from within the petals and appeared in Stripey’s grasp.
The legendary bananas were about the size of a normal banana, but they radiated warmth and power. There were five of them in the bunch, each one flawless, unblemished, and pulsing with a life of its own.
Stripey stared at them with wide eyes, his tiny body trembling with excitement.
“Umm… Legendary Banana…” he whispered in awe.
But there was no time to celebrate.
ROOOOOAAAARRRR!
The boulder exploded.
