seeing this makes me want to have a pokemon game with a tournament mechanic instead of just the elite four battles. Was there one? I admit I didn't really keep up with them

Pokémon Stadium, Pokémon Stadium Gold & Silver or Stadium 2 depending on region, Pokémon Battle Revolution and a number of the main games pretty much have tournaments you can enter with good replayability

This episode was annoying to me when it released and is still annoying now. Team Rocket caused way too much trouble, which caused Pidgeotto to be out. This battle could have gone so much better, had they not cut down Satoshi's/Ash's team by making Pidgeotto and Pikachu too tired for battle. He probably could have gone through the battle without Charizard being a Dick Dickens there but yeah. Its what it is and thankfully since, he has had better final League battles

Back when Suede first did this, I didn't get the Persona reference. Since then, I've platinumed Persona 5 Royal twice.

I really wasn't a fan of the way this episode executed Ash's loss. I know if Ash is going to lose, the Top 16 would be the best spot for him to end his first league, but I really didn't like the bogus rules they had. Sleep = KO?! Recalling Pokémon counts as a KO as well?! And shoving the whole thing at the last few minutes in the episode didn't help matters either.
