This one came right out of nowhere! Amazing!

Otherwise, commentaries again, darn it. Ran myself a bit ragged with the uploads and more family sickness. I hope I can give you guys something special for Christmas though, and especially a fresh new year ahead.

Only saw it once over a 14 years ago, but it was one that stayed in my mind.

I’m on a journey quest (journey quest!) I want the whole series seen!

JediJaras

Don't forget the extinct chunky birds - the moa. And its' cousins from Australia, the thunder birds/demon ducks.

DeScruff

This episode always stuck with me. Glad to see it was for good reasons.

They're not closely related (moas are closest ti tinamous, demon ducks to screamers) but yeah, good examples of island gigantism

Michael Beckwith

That edit of Pidgey flying into the sun and exploding caught me off guard. Always a fan of those sorts of gags

Tom Hur

I ended up finding this episode by complete accident when I was a kid. It was quite a happy one. :)

It's a dodo in the same way pidgey is a pigeon 😅 the name references it but the mon itself doesn't look anything like a dodo

I think it's meant to be a weird cross between an ostrich and an ibis with a bit of kiwi thrown in

Connor Pelland

One of my favorite episodes, something that always stuck with me in a way only the Pokemon anime can.

Thorny4You

This episode is so good that I still remember it twenty years later.

Anna-Flora

"he didn't want to traumatize the audience that much" Or his editor said no

Goldenhawk_0

I didnt realize all the meta stuff surrounding the episode with blaustien. Its actually really sweet.

Wilson Bennett

this was a great episode. I hope we get a marathon for Johto League Champions sometime

This is the episode I've been waiting for Journey to cover since you started way back! Thank you Suede! Maddie may be gone, but I take a lot of comfort that her voice and words are still here for future generations, especially trans and queer kids; acknowledging the difficulties but recognising and affirming that the happiness is worth pursuing.
