Glad that we've reached this episode, but there's one minor error. You couldn't get a yellow tailed Smeargle in Pokémon Stadium 2. The default was red, but certain IVs could make it green or blue, but never yellow.

The Jack Pollockson guy obviously famous abstract of artist: Jackson Pollock

I really want to see the dub version of this episode. An artist struggling with their newfound limitations conceptualizes "art is a storm" as "art is fleeting" discovers that its ephemerity just means it's not something that can die bc it will always find a way to manifest FEELS like what this episode wanted to convey, but sadly, unless there was some dub meddling, the pieces are too disjointed to say all I think it had in the spirit.

Oh dang a Flint the Time Detective reference. I was just thinking of that the other day. Maybe I should track it down and give it a rewatch

To be fair there’s is a difference between graffiting a house and vandalizing a famous painting. One is more easy to sweep Under then the other after all

I love these episodes for the background info. It’s so cool to see how artists lives envelope their art. Even if those lives go to sad places.

The cluster of Shudo-written episodes in mid-Johto is fascinating to me; while often narratively convoluted or problematic, their tonal and thematic ambitions decidedly exceeds the slew of dull COTD-driven episodes otherwise swamping this era of the show. They're effectively closer to (albeit deeply flawed) "mini-movies" in the Kanto vein, which I vastly prefer to the more technically-solid but tonally-conservative faire the show evolves into by the Advanced Generation saga.

That second picture of the pancake rocks looks exactly like the location in episode 4 of Walking With Dinosaurs. Nothing to do with Pokémon, but still really cool

New theory every time Ash recognizes a new pokemon right of the bat it’s because it’s one of his mysterious off screen dads.

I'm downright giddy about you covering the next episode Suede. I watched it ahead of time and boy is it a lot to handle.
