It wouldn't be quite right for me to ignore what day it is, huh? After all, you guys know me well enough to anticipate thoughtful (sappy) posts now and then.

I'll admit, I wish I had something big for you all right now to watch or experience on this anniversary of the Patreon's launch. Technically, it was yesterday that I opened, but I dedicated the entire day/night to working on audio for How to Make a Webseries.

That's where I'm at now, too--just like last year, I write to you on Patreon in the middle of a huge, consuming project that anybody else would call me a fool for trying. Last year, it was Don't Hug Me I'm Scared. This year, it's a series meant to help other people make their very own kind of Don't Hug Me I'm Scared. Or Marble Hornets. Or Wyoming Incident. Or Petscop.

I never feel good about the time it takes me to get videos out--that's no secret. The friend who worked on Don't Hug Me I'm Scared with me and the past October videos, he and I have a joke: "If it's ever on time, it's not a Night Mind project." The only videos I ever seem to make that appear on schedule are my Halloween releases, mercifully.

Knowing how late I run with things, how late I'm running now with promised goods, and looking at my current station in life, all I can think of is how lucky I am and how amazing you all are. I wouldn't have any of this if it wasn't for you, and you deserve twice as much effort and output as I've produced in this past year.

I think the most beautiful gift you give me is your patience. It has been a rough, mean year since January. I've been knocked off course and out of my working pattern more often than I can count by things no one could predict or help. It's only been in July that I've finally settled and can take full control of my entire world, which I've been doing since my big move was finished:

- I purchased a 4K camcorder with a very special "extra feature" that will come in handy for several live action pieces on the channel, starting with How to Make a Webseries.

- I've tested almost all the technology needed for the first Night Mind Original short film, which will be shot in the later half of September (due to issues with the owner of the filming location that are now being worked out). I've also assembled my actors, one of which will be a real surprise to all of you and his audience, too.

- (No, it is not Nyx Fears.)

 - Work has already begun for October, which will be my most ambitious and content-filled yet. Production for October material begins in September, to ensure everything is ready and up to my quality standards.

- And of course, I'm finally making the long-awaited and asked-for How to Make a Webseries course.

- (Oh, and I'll be kickstarting my own quite soon, too. But there's already something out there I've had a strong hand in making...)

Seeing people throw stones for "lack of content" or "lazy behavior" because I'm supported by Patreon hurts; I'm unable to show people all the work I do behind the scenes for Night Mind and all the hours I spend on content that's been promised. So much of it is stuff I just can't give away, because you guys love surprises as much as I do.

But those who don't understand and make snide comments don't matter. Because I have you, and you guys understand and know me more than my general audience does. Your patience and support is the only reason I'm here or able to work to the amount and extent I'm now doing. I love you, all, and I'm looking forward to all the moments we'll be sharing together soon and the creations we've built as a community.

Thank you!

- Sincerely, Nick

Hey, I know you struggle with some guilt over not meeting the deadlines you set for yourself. I'm sorry that people try to hurt you with that. I just want you to know I really appreciate everything you do to make your content the best. Seeing how hard you work every day has been really inspiring to me. Just hearing you talk about the newest things you're making helps me reconnect with that well of ideas inside myself. Thank you for everything.

You made my day. People are always so critical of themselves. I support your incredible content not your speed and I am excited to hear more about this kickstarter project! Happy 1 year, Nick. <3

Love ya' Nic! And happy one-year! I feel that you're getting some undeserved criticism. Sure, you've had delays that were pretty long and of course things do happen, but I feel as if your true fans would rather wait for a well put together piece of work that suffered some delays than some rushed out half-assed BS that you just pushed out to make the deadline (with the latter unfortunately being the reality of some of the content creators I've seen lately...). You do you Nic, tons of us appreciate all the time and effort you put in to your craft!

Happy Patreonniversary, Nick! I'm so happy to support you and your channel! I always look forward to your videos no matter whether or not they get delayed, and the existence of Night Mind makes my Octobers so much more exciting. Make sure to go easy on yourself about the delays, I'm sure we're all willing to wait. It's always been worth it up until now, after all! <3

Thanks for this post Nick,, it's good to see you are back in full control. As for the guilt, well like Blizzard says "Coming... when ready", and with the Behemoth you are working on, it's quite normal! Speaking of which, keep some free time for yourself my shapeshifting friend!

Love you, back! Getting a little itchy waiting, but knowing that scratch will more than satisfy when you DO show us makes it worth the wait. ;)

Nothing but inspiration since discovering your channel and while I'm usually quiet I've never felt so welcome in a community. It's always a thrill to see an update or alert, a thrill that I eagerly wait for with infinite patience. Thank you for your content and the community you have nurtured from it. I, for one, will gladly wait here in the dark for the next great thing. Cheers!

Let us take a step back and truly appreciate the scope of what you are working on. You are distilling almost a year worth of writing, directing, and community interaction classes into a mere 2.5 hours (per your estimate). This is a monumental task for someone to do, let alone do to your level of quality we know and love. I would be surprised if this DIDN'T take a long time to do. I'm sure if something epic happens we'll see you take a couple days to hammer out an update video, but in the meantime you have a syllabus to complete. Above all, I think you appreciate that this especially should not be rushed. Take the time to do it right. If all goes well you will have more work to do introducing the children of this series on Night Vision for years to come!

With NM, it's not waiting: it's anticipation You're doing so much (and somehow doing it so well), don't let the impatient get you down!

The longer a video takes the more we know it's gonna be good!

I'm just impressed that you're able to produce as much content as you do, being a sort of interdimensional feline! Also: Happy Anniversary! Really glad I found your channel and looking forward to watching it grow. There's a number of people in this space, but you're like the HBO of it: not necessarily the largest or most frequent creator, but the highest quality.
