Ladies, gentlemen, and all things in-between, outside, under and over, it’s time once again to prepare for the Night Mind Candy Bowl!“What’s the Candy Bowl?”

Idk, you tell me, I’m still trying to figure it out myself

The Candy Bowl is an annual tradition begun last year with the first October that the Night Mind channel was active, taking place on Halloween! An assortment of horrifying stories, terrifying monsters, and oddities that don’t quite fit into any other type of video are brought forth, with a very special focus paid to new original creations. Halloween might be the ‘scary holiday,’ but it’s also the greatest celebration of creativity, imagination, and belief in things greater than the mundane we partake in.

Candy Bowl is like the act of sitting down on Halloween night to watch a horror movie or two, but instead, seeing a whole bag of Halloween and Night Mind material in one big carnival ride. It’s meant to be like several small Night Mind videos stitched together and a Halloween night experience.

I know what’s coming up before the Candy Bowl, and I know what a good amount of my own contribution is going to be for it, but I want to hear fromYOU what you’d love to see out of this year’s Halloween celebration!

Do you want freaky little YouTube channels that usually don’t make the cut for my Night Vision or Cat’s Eye series? Scary story readings, like NoSleep entries and little-known Creepypasta? Profiles on legends, myths, and monsters?

If you could see one thing on a Halloween episode of Night Mind, what would you want to see?

Let me know! Speak to me, creatures of the night!

This is Patreon, so you can go ahead and tell me right in the comments here, or send me a message.

Check out last year’s Candy Bowl as well to catch an example of what it’s like.

More interdimensional cat hugs?

WheeledJustice

More channels and legends, less creepy pastas. Those just don't do it for me. Not sure why.

Geck

Do what you think would fit well into the theme of the month!

Blythe Pilcher

I suggest talking about (it's too long to read in the segment TBH) Penpal! It started as a NoSleep story and it's SO AMAZINGLY GOOD and absolutely perfect NightMind material! I would love to hear you talk about it and hear your opinion of it.

Cole Mix

Would love to see tackle some classic horror, H.P. Lovecraft would be amazing to hear in your silky voice!

Nicholas Herring

Honestly Penpal at least mentioned or skimmed seems like a good subject, I agree with the other 2!

Michael Gibelyou

As to your comment about things that don't fit, Have a portion of the candy bowl be on the indy horror short films that get posted to Youtube. Not full movies, and maybe not enough material for a full Night Mind video on their own, but some of these pack more scare than a two hour feature into a few minutes of video.

Ben Rogers

The part I loved about last year's candy bowl were the monster legends. My favorite horror stories tend to revolve around either ghosts (or some variation thereof) or new and interesting monsters. And of course, a good urban legend can't be passed up

Oneiroi (Ethan K.)

I agree with Ben Rogers, the best part was the legends! Personally, I'd rather you avoid talking about youtube stuff so that it's more accessible to new viewers. If it's relatively accessible, then people can put it on during a Halloween party. That's how I got my friends to start watching you last year. Also Cole Mix is right, Lovecraft would be great.

Milo Rusnak

I love the legends, but also I think it would be nice to mix it up by adding some small horror videos in. I think Michael Gibelyou is right, indy horror short films would be a good idea (though I'm not sure you could show them in entirety?) but also creepy videos that get posted would be nice too. I know last Candy Bowl I loved the stories, but sometimes when it's just stories it's hard to keep them separated in my head back-to-back. It'd be nice if you broke it up a little more!

Perry Iaquinto

Maybe candle cove? Since channel zero is starting soon

Fairy Princess

Tell us a tale of a skin-walker (yee nahgloshii).

Pumaoblivion

Definally a few SCP entries, the last few worked so well mixed in with the rest.

Gabriel Cardinal

I think a small quick arg thing to cover would be Local 58. its 3 videos on youtube. Dont know what I like so much about them. I guess they're less arg, and more just creepy/unnerving

Alexandra Vass

I would like you to look into Youtube channel KrainaGrzybowTV if possible. While maybe not horror, it is certainly creepy as all getout. It is in Polish, true, but there are subtitles provided.

Mel Van De Graaff

I would like to see coverage of some of the creepiest SCP entries you can find.

NoobWithAFez

Have you covered the youtube channel "treatsforbeasts" before? I'd like to see that one on candy bowl.

Ultimate_Pawnch

If you could throw in just one narration of a Scary Story to Tell in the Dark, my inner child would be happy (or terrified.)

Brady Isfeld

Honestly, I'd love to hear of some smaller channels. It's nice hearing of all these awesome things you keep sending us to (loved The West Records) and would love to hear of all sorts of channels you've found.

Kiffy's Kreations

Are you familiar with Bogleech's work at all? I'd like to suggest the story that got me into his stuff, 'Burgrr Entries'--and no, that's not misspelled. I'd also reccomend you check out Awful Hospital, too, it's wild and interactive. If you do take a look-see, make sure to check out the comments, too; that's half the fun!

Natalie Sawyer

Definitely would second Penpal and KrainaGrzybowTV! I'd also be interested to know any horror authors, novels or short stories you might recommend.

Lynette Ai

I'd love to see some smaller channels (or written stuff, that was a highlight of last year's Candy Bowl). Especially ones that do the spooky angles well but have the explainable side of things, which I think CB would be perfect for!

ShiningKami

Hearing about smaller YouTube channels is always awesome, and I have to say I'd be really interested in monsters from cultural mythologies — say, the skinwalker or some of the various yokai.

Sam Mullen

Have you considered an audiodrama or similar preformance of some of the classic stuff, say for example a production of the classic play, Sorry Wrong Number, or perhaps a Lovecraft story? My personal favorite is The Lurking Fear.

Rosie Pryde-Covey

i would love to hear about some unusual cryptids, not like bigfoot and mothman and all these common ones you always hear about, some truly unusual specimens

Andy's Journeys

I like the idea of seeing what stuff didn't make the cut.

Savannah Stewart

Maybe what your favorite movie(s) to watch on Halloween is?

BookWyrm

I would like to hear you do a skinwalker story. Not the creepypasta.

Hybiskiss

NoSleep stories sound great, and maybe a profile of a lesser-known or psychological 'monsters'. Something like, say, what can go wrong using a Tulpa, or a wendigo or something similar.

Jackson C

I don't think this Halloween's going to be complete without Nick Nocturne reading me a bedtime story...

JordanVega

Things that come to mind are, Televoid, Gregory Horror Show and perhaps the writings of Vincent Cava

Aja Bennett

I know there's no a real way to review creepy legend internet videos like Suicide Mouse and Lavender town that have stories attached to them but they're always freaky and interesting. Also I would love to see your view on Salad Fingers, which I know is old but with MatPat getting around to it has resurfaced. His explanations don't usually go as in depth as yours and like with your Don't Hug Me I'm Scared video, you get more details.
