Late July Status Update (Patreon)
Content
Hi! It's been a fair bit since there's been one of these! Instead of explaining why, I'll show you so it makes more sense:
1. Shantae & Mii Body Inflation Dance progress.
I showed some progress on this off before, but I've been chipping away at it ever since, with a big push at the start of the month in tandem with JungleJungleJuly! (It's a twitter/blusky trend where people draw a lot of Mii related art) It'll be finished before August to celebrate the occasion, though I won't use the official watermark:
Here's what's been done so far:
They still have to be cropped, have dialogue and blurring added, and I might touch up their poses after part 6 (the last part) is made. Though my client likes them a lot, so maybe not so I don't accidentally make an oopsie lol.
2. Alyssa Taiga's Beachfront Mayhem (OC from Busmansam)
I honestly never thought I'd get to use her, but I'm not complaining about being wrong! The loose overarching plot is:
And this is what I have so far:
With the third render being the part where she fills the balloon, it's not happening in 6 pics lol. I went "hm, but how would they know what the vapor was without a wall of text in the image?" and decided to just show them the context! Sure, it adds more work, but it's funner!
Btw, the Alyssa WIPs aren't meant to be exclusive; they'll always be ones copy-pasted from discord or blusky with maybe the "WIP!" banner to fit in with the first two; WIP 3 originally didn't have it, but I thought it'd look weird next to the others without it.
3. Commission Spectating
So, to optimize the revision cycle for a large commission I got months ago, me and the artist (who wants to remain anonymous) decided for them to livestream their progress while I correct them in real time. It went well and it helped them a lot, but it was very time consuming. If I wasn't at least partially attentive, even during their random breaks, they might leap forwards with progress and I'd have to frantically catch up before it becomes more complicated to fix (like during coloring, lineart, or rendering).
It really slowed down my progress on art all throughout the end of June and half of July, but it's all done and looks fantastic! Here's a few of them:
(Note that most of my ideas were "this art, but an OC of mine," so if you recognize things, it's because I told them to copy it)
I'll need to explain them and their lore later, but if you want to know their names, let me know in the comments!
