He successfully created a hundred constructs. Something he was pretty proud of, and other than that one mishap, he didn’t have any issues. However, he wanted to work on his final requirement as soon as possible. So once he had recovered his mana, he isolated himself once again in the chamber, but suddenly realized the possible dangers of doing this inside a relatively small place.

The chamber wasn’t small by normal standards, but compared to how many constructs he was going to create, it might be a bit undersized. Realizing the complications involved and what he'd done in the garden recently, he groaned.

The responsible thing would be to find a large and isolated area in the wilderness, but he didn’t want to have to go out right now.

He scrunched up his nose as he thought about the downsides and the damage it could cause if he lost control inside the chamber. He eventually came to the conclusion that it wasn’t worth it and stopped himself before he could do anything else.

With an annoyed grunt, he stood up and walked up the stairs. He spotted Marcus and Lily working on something at the dining table.

“Done already?” Lily asked curiously.

He shook his head. “No, I need to go somewhere larger and where I can’t hurt anyone or anything if something goes wrong.”

Lily frowned. “Where would that be?”

“I was thinking about going out of Goldmere for a little bit. Find a barren spot of land and do it there,” he explained.

“Not alone, you’re not,” Lily said firmly.

“You don’t have to come with me. I will be fine.”

“No, I agree. You shouldn’t be alone while you complete this task. I will accompany and watch over you while you do it. If you’re going out in the wilderness at this time of night, you might come across a few monsters, and I’ll take care of them for you. This way you will have some peace of mind,” Marcus interjected, already standing up.

Julius clicked his tongue. He had been hoping to be alone, if only to avoid someone seeing any of his embarrassing mistakes.

“Fine,” he said, with a defeated sigh.

Lily smiled. “Good, let’s get going then.”

***

It didn’t take much time for them to make it outside the gates and make their way deep into the woods. With it being dark out and the moon barely light enough to illuminate the ground, they were able to fly quite deep into the woods.

Marcus carried Lily while Julius flew on his own. Soon enough, they found a large patch of land that looked devoid of life. It was mostly rocks and a few wild shrubs. He didn’t sense any auras or people nearby, and neither did Marcus or Lily.

He didn’t waste any time either. He sat down and began gathering mana, letting it suffuse his channels and warm his body. He let his mind narrow and focus on his task. Only once he felt properly prepared did he start the process.

Fortunately, the hundred constructs he needed to control didn't have to be as special or unique as his previous requirement. As long as they had a sufficient amount of mana, he would be okay. He already decided on a shape too.

He let his instincts and experience guide him. A blue spike shimmering as a little gem flared into existence over his shoulder. The gentle pulsations of the fire mana comforted him on the chilly night. But he didn’t stop at one. He continued to make spikes one by one.

He took his time and made sure each spike was properly layered so he wouldn’t have to worry about destabilization or other problems. He didn’t want to worry about more things than he needed to.

Soon enough, he had around fifty spikes hovering around him in a large circle. Each one was full of mana and held together with pure willpower and skill. However, he could already feel his control shaking slightly. There was a lot of mana inside these constructs, and it was hard to keep all of them behaving. It was like corralling fifty unruly children together.

His construct skill was powerful, but it was a double-edged sword. With power comes risk. And the risk was that these spikes would collapse and explode. That wouldn’t be ideal. Not with people watching anyway.

He doubled down with his focus skill. [Calm Before Ruin] was really a wonderful skill; it allowed him to enhance his mind far beyond its normal capabilities. The slight brain hemorrhaging from the skill was really quite minor in comparison to its benefits. The damage was quickly healed as fast as it occurred.

He did notice that Marcus had taken care of a couple of curious monsters who must have sensed the large amount of mana. It was a good idea to bring them after all.

Once he got to seventy-five constructs, it started to get dicey. It was important to remember that controlling and creating were two very different things. The test required that he controlled the constructs. This meant he had to have absolute command over them. They couldn’t just float there.

His will was stretched thin already, and he could feel the blood flowing out of his nose and down his shirt. It took everything within him to keep things together, but he kept on going. He wasn’t about to stop, and he pressed forward with determination.

Unfortunately, that was when he hit a slight roadblock. He messed up and was careless in constructing the most recent spike. The construct shook as it threatened to unravel, and he was forced to put effort into stabilizing it.

However, this also took his focus away from his other constructs, and several of them started to fall apart. And once this process started, it was almost impossible to stop. He grunted as he threw the entire of his willpower into the constructs, tiring out his already flagging will.

Even that wasn’t enough, and he had to make a split decision. He hated to waste the mana, but the constructs were too far gone to recover, not without sacrificing the other ones. So he allowed them to collapse and explode. Over ten spikes, full of mana and aura, detonated. The resulting blast tore large gouges in the hard dirt, staggered him off his feet, and he fell straight onto his face. He didn’t bother to move out of the dirt either, continuing to lie there ass up and face down in the dirt.

He couldn't worry about any of that. He was much too concentrated on keeping the other constructs together.

He lay there on his face as he reinforced all of the other spikes. It required a little more mana than he desired, but it also added a level of support and structure to them that made it easier to handle. With some of the pressure alleviated from his soul and will, he slowly began the process once again.

He glanced over to the side and was glad to see that Marcus had already taken precautions and protected Lily with his own body. Several layers of powerful psychic barriers were placed all around Marcus.

Julius was slightly proud that he was forcing Marcus to be a little serious. It was an indirect compliment of his own progress and power.

Another spike appeared over his shoulder. Just like the other one, he added several other structures within the spike to help with the load. His mana was draining fast, but he dragged himself back over to where the blanket was and sighed with relief when he felt the magical regeneration the item provided.

It was also notable to add that his crown had made an appearance. Julius hadn’t summoned it, but it must have decided to help him out. The Ruinous Crown was taking bits of his ruinous aura and flames, keeping a tight leash over it for Julius. It also cleaned up any small frayed bits that remained on the spikes, keeping them spotless.

The crown, much like his lunchbox, had also experienced a small improvement. It wasn’t quite as noticeable as the lunchbox, but it had regained some luster and no longer looked as rugged. There were some flakes of silver glimmering beneath the pitted metal. The flames coming from its surface were also hotter than ever. However, it didn’t feel out of control either.

He had been nervous that the crown would become more unruly as it inevitably grew, but, surprisingly, it was very compliant. Julius got the feeling that the crown approved of him. It seemed to approve of his destructive tendencies and realized that as long as it stayed with him, it wouldn't have to worry about regaining its strength.

He gave the crown a little nudge of gratitude before he lost himself again, focusing on his task. Each step was done with care and firmness. He didn’t allow a single speck of mana to go out of his control and even used his Authority to help with it. This small application of his Authority actually helped quite a bit. His mana started to behave a little less… unruly.

This gave him just enough room to create even more spikes. He added another couple dozen and soon enough he was almost at a hundred. The sheer force of the mana surrounding him and within the control of his willpower was astounding. He had never handled this much mana at one time. He couldn’t even imagine how much destruction a sudden loss of control would cause.

He removed that thought from his mind before it could infect his intent. He wouldn’t allow such a glaring weakness and doubt to wiggle its way into his constructs. Not when he was so close.

Instead, he kept on creating more spikes. His head was pounding from the strain he was placing on it. He could feel blood rushing down from his nose, his eyes, and ears. Even a blood vessel on his forehead burst open and obscured his vision with the blood.

His willpower was under even more pressure. His soul, which had become quite sturdy and powerful after his latest soul evolution, was shaking like a leaf. It was stretched too thin, and, understanding that time was not on his side, he began to move with even greater urgency.

He was still very careful, but he was on a timer and didn’t want to find out what would happen when it expired.

He didn’t even realize that he had completed the hundredth construct until the notification flashed in his eyes.

Congratulations, you have successfully controlled over a hundred constructs at one time.

He almost collapsed in relief when he read the notification. However, he couldn’t. He was still in control of the hundred constructs, and any slip would collapse everything. He grunted as he continued to hold onto the constructs.

He tried to slowly unravel them on his own without destabilizing the rest, but it was instantly evident that wasn’t a good option. There were simply too many of them and too much mana connected to him. He looked over a particularly empty area and licked his lips, subconsciously noting the copper tang of his own blood.

“You guys should move away,” he warned Marcus.

The man didn’t need to be told twice; he quickly grabbed Lily, retreated even further, and erected several more barriers.

Julius then, with the last dregs of his willpower, managed to throw himself up into the sky. There was no finesse or anything; he simply chucked himself as high as he could. Once he was high enough and found a suitable target, he let everything go.

The spikes that had been suspended all around him detonated their mana and shot towards the ground at blistering speeds. He tried to target all of them at the smallest possible target, but it was easier said than done.

The resulting explosion of a hundred spikes full of his mana illuminated the night sky as if the sun had risen over the horizon. Honestly, it was quite beautiful to look at. For it was silent and dazzled with hints of his blue fire mana. However, that only lasted until the shockwave reached him.

He took the accumulated charge of the simultaneously exploding spikes straight to the chest. It shattered several of his ribs and almost knocked him unconscious. The damage to the surrounding land was even more severe.

When the fire and dust finally settled enough to see the carnage below, he was stunned. All that was left of the area was a football-field-sized crater. Smoking ash and specks of flame were still floating high up in the sky.

The entire air was filled with destruction and ruin. He looked down at Lily and Marcus to make sure they were safe.

He spotted them quickly and while the area covered with Marcus’s barrier was safe, the rest of the area around them was incinerated.

He saw the two of them looking up at him with expressions of shock and slight reproach.

Thanks for the chapter!

Jana

The moment Julius went out to find somewhere quiet I knew it wouldn’t be quiet for long.

Zay

Tyftc

Raymond Mouton

Thanks for the chapter. Good One. Typical Julius, a Marcus or Lily POV of this insanity might be a good transition into a return to Julius’ POV describing the gains for the Legendary Skill.

Hamfist

For the new skill name, I'm thinking [Panoply of Ruin]

ShyviaAngel

Common it was obvious that was gonna happen you can't reproach him of that

Jennifer Leigh

Fortunately, the hundred constructs he needed to control had to be as special or unique as his previous requirement -> they didn't?

Jolu

.. gah!! Ryn why! U make it dificult to say tftc when u leave like this😭 can we ask for monday chapter today?🤔

Evilappleman

HOLY FUCK 😂 that’s the most destructive we’ve seen him be, a football field sized crater from a loss of control not even an attack 🤣 They grow up so fast

Akhil Girish

And he was thinking of doing this inside a house !!

frank difulco

Hopefully the reward will be better control that he needs

BreezeShaw

Plz I need to see the new skill options !!!!!!😭😭😭

Carly

Lol “..slight reproach.” Like they didnt know this little excursion was gonna involve something blowing up 😏

Pickled Rick

He could feel blooding rushing down from his nose, his eyes, and nose. I assume one nose should be ears

Grayvisc

Why are they shocked? They’ve seen what his spikes can do and 100 of them all at once digging out a football field is of no consequence.

Pickled Rick

I really like the idea of Julius having all of his skills at legendary before hitting tier 5. I thought he would try that for Tier 4 but he has to for T5. He would probably get another feat upgrade for 10 legendary skills while T4.

atome 4 000

I realy need a POV chapter now.

Alexander Dupree

It’s pretty quite afterwards though. Not much going to be alive to make noise

Stephen Pearson

Right? 'I need to go somewhere remote to do something too dangerous for the warded basement of the house' should really clarify what is about to happen:-p

Malphir

Fortunately, the hundred constructs he needed to control had to be as special or unique as his previous requirement. > didn't have to be as special He could feel blooding rushing down from his nose, his eyes, and nose. > He could feel blood rushing down from his nose and eyes.

Zwil

marcus POV🫡

Jyan91

"Fortunately, the hundred constructs he needed to control had to be as special or unique as his previous requirement. As long as they had a sufficient amount of mana, he would be okay. He already decided on a shape too." Should this be fortunately they did not have to be unique? Because the previous step required them to be unique.

Jyan91

Nostril 1 and then eyes and then nostril 2 lol

saynt

they were just surprised it wasnt julius blowing up for a change

Carly

@ saynt I think we can all agree we’re surprised he didnt too

Ben

Nice to see the Crown get an upgrade and some attention! It's hilarious that the item everyone was worried about corrupting Julius is more like a tame kitten just enjoying the carnage! Also.. I would love to hear about the increase in size of his internal storage space since his soul evolution!

Ben

We had Marcus POV recently now I'd guess a Lily POV would make sense. Imagine her thinking about the tree construct he gave her blowing up... poor girl might be traumatized I'll bet she let's him know her thoughts, and judges him about starting this process in the basement lol.

Bluejay

If he did that at the house a large part of the city would be gone.

Corwin Amber

thanks for the chapter 'had to be as special' <- I think you meant to say 'not as special'

Nick Pincus

Tbh I'm a bit surprised his flames have not taken on a flavor yet like hinted at when he was teir 3

Corac

I actually had no idea what Panoply ment so I looked it up and yes I could agree that would be a good possible name. Its mostly geared twords armor and less the armaments. But I dont have any better name so yup you have my vote!

Corac

So we ALWAYS end up wanting more chapters and Ryn is normally very gracious and provides. My thought was this: Why not have a lot of the POV shifts be the extra chapters. Like if we get a Lilly or Marcus pov after this chapter for example.

Hamfist

The literal translation of panoply is "the full set of armor" but the modern dictionary definitions are all long the lines of " a magnificent or impressive array,", "a wide-ranging and impressive array or display," "a wide range or collection of different things:" etc. Basically it means "the complete set" or "all the things." Since the skill is used for all types of constructs and not only items used for fighting, panoply is more accurate than the existing armaments.

Frankie

Tyftc and typical Julius he’s getting stronger

gray matter

I still want an exposition on how the world repairs itself. I don’t think we’ve heard anything about higher mana zones having a sturdier environment, this is just too much destruction from a singular tier 4 for the world to not be a smoking ruin without some sort of magical repair. I mean I guess I don’t need one and can just continue to assume the world magically heals itself

Spade

Isn't that the ruinflame?

Blackking👑

I hope not i want to see the skill

Tom Beaupuy

The crown is actually scaring me, it’s too docile, the item definition was really clear about its nature, I’m afraid that it’s only playing nice now to better fuck everything up. We will see 🤷‍♂️ (And yes I believe that his soul storage should have gotten an upgrade)

Nick Pincus

Isn't that the crown not Julius?

Tom Beaupuy

We saw druids dealing with the corrupted dungeon a few dozens chapters back, I believe there are beings of nature that constantly work to restore and mend the world (like humanoids, beasts and maybe even monsters 🤔)

Caudyr

I don't know that his body can handle much more, tbh. Sure, he has the soul evolution done, but the body will change even more upon becoming T5, and that is probably going to be more necessary than the soul evolution was at some point here very soon. I mean, it'd be nice if he could do that, but I just can't really see it happening, personally.

Caudyr

Personally, unless the PoV is only part of the chapter (which Ryn has done before), I don't want to see it. I want to see his skill options instead! =p

Dustin Thomas

His is ruinflame too but it said in one of the earlier chapters that his is different and new the crown is older and more complete, I think it's pure ruinflame destruction aspect Julius is probably Phoenix aspect

HairlessBear

I would be interested to see if something to do with a Dying Sun is included in the skill name.

matthias braem

He did not lose control at the end. It was an attack on the land...

matthias braem

There are no skill options when you have to do the test. Only when it's a superior skill.

matthias braem

There are only options when he lvl's a superior skill.

matthias braem

4th legendary skill. 👌 Somebody stop him... 🤣

Call0013

I wonder if this training has leveled up any other skills, like maybe Inexorable Aura of Ruin,Spirit Fortification,Etc( I also wonder if he unlocked any new skill options, then again, it would probably be folded automatically into whatever Legendary skill Armaments of the Arcane evolves into without showing up as a new skill).

Call0013

Wont his body adapt to having to many legendary skills because of his Phoenix Core,Body,Authority (I forget which one it is that causes his body to adapt) Having to many Legendary skills might be a good, with him adding a New Legendary skill once his body has adapted to holding the ones he has and just rise and repeat until he has however many Legendary skills he wants.

Caudyr

Maybe, but at the same time, he may come to a point of "critical failure" so to speak...but hopefully he'd get an inkling of that well beforehand. We already know he's normally way ahead of the curve in that line, though.

Caudyr

Nevertheless...as far as we KNOW, he hasn't unlocked his actual 'advanced flame' I believe. I figure he would've noticed...and Cassandra probably would have, as well. He's gotta be close if nothing else, though.

Caudyr

Do we actually know that for sure, though? Just because that's how it's happened so far doesn't mean that that's how it'll be going forward, after all. I don't remember that being specifically mentioned, though I can't put it past me glossing over the detail and then forgetting about it, lol.

Fdrugc

Tftc

Pickled Rick

His skill levels are linked to his soul mostly and he seems to have achieved a soul level kind of unheard of for his tier and with his special soul, legendary phoenix skill and the pinnacle soul treasure I think he is one of the only people that can do it. It will probably give him a body evolution at T5 that can much better handle legendary skills with relative ease. From the Marcus chapter we know even T5 struggle with legendary skills and Julius now has 4 including a "Lord" skill

Story Junkie

Ok… hurry up.. what skill did he get!!!! Cause there’s no way he’s gonna interfere and combine his legendary skills…!!!! Let’s go for quality rather than quantity!!! Get rid of the chaff…. Combine the void and chaos skills…

Pickled Rick

Knowing our boy he will be forced to transition into T5 because he gets all his skills to Legendary which then causes a life and death struggle to keep his soul together. Then one of his T6 friends will tell him his only chance of survival is to rank up. He usually holds his soul together out of sheer stubbornness so right now this is light work

Call0013

I feel like he needs to Evolve Spirit Fortification to include Authority or Synergies Spirit Fortification with a Skill that adds Authority to the Mana+Aura. Because the main thing Holding him back from tier 5 is Developing his Authority/Authority Seed. Spirit Fortification becoming a Mana+Aura+Authority skill would probably help a lot on that front. But yeah, he needs to get some Authority skills to stary working towards tier 5.(That and have Authority become integrated into his current threw Evolutions to Legendary, Skill Synergies and the use of the Skil combination Crystal.)

atome 4 000

While we do not know for sure, it is the case until now, with the exception of embodyment of ruin wich was an epic+ skill who didn't have a test and has multiple choice. My current theory is that, for the evolution with a test, the way you decide how to acomplish the test is a factor in the direction the skill will evolve into.

Dungeonborn

No just a certain amount of mana required per construct. Special/ Unique constructs was another separate requirement

Ben

Not counting the minor scolding Julius is about to get.

Ben

He really pushed himself to the limits, using everything he could come up with. I think inexorable Aura of ruin and spirit fortifications would be two good guesses for points... which would put his aura skill at 30 ready for a legendary upgrade.... I think his focus skill Calm before Ruin will get a point as well. Perhaps Harmonic balance as well.

J.D. Green

He needs to slow down. Having that many legendary skills is going to be a problem. Especially after he uses his upgrade token.

Christopher Owens

Thanks for the chapter, figured there was going to be a good sized explosion at some point for this chapter. Was not disappointed. Also would like to see Lily and Marcus’s pov from that lol

lilcapt

I was just thinking anyone tier 4 and up would feel mana of the explosion wouldn't you go check out the weird mana signature if you were a guard would you inform you comand of the mana and noises

Ben

Thinking of things he should do inside the house... Work on getting a Domain (maybe not, the more i think about it, this might be an outside activity too) Work on chapter 3 of Tezuko Willow life technique Use his seed authority boosting orb and the elemental authority gem Spar a bunch with Marcus to work the kinks out after his soul evolution and get ready for smacking down some T5s

gray matter

I forgot about the druids, we did see them, it may also be part of the different spirits in the wilds nature to fix/repair things.

Raymond Mouton

I was thinking the chapter be split POV. Lily or Marcus first, (short section), followed by Julius and the skill goodness.
