The "Inept" Trait, Bug Squashing & v0.9.0 Progress! | Development Update #19 (Patreon)

Hey all!

Sorry it's been a while since my last development update post. I try to keep you updated as often as I can, but I've been head-down in the codebase recently tackling some behind-the-scenes work. I wanted to drop in and let you know exactly what I've been working on over the past week and a half.

What I've been doing

As it turned out, v0.8.6 had a few more bugs than I would have liked, including one major issue that caused a crash when attempting to start a new game. I didn't address it publicly because, thankfully, nobody actually reported it - I assume most of you just loaded your existing saves and everything worked fine! I have thoroughly tested the fix, so the current download links are completely stable and good to go.

v0.9.0 progress

I have started working on some minor tweaks and additions for v0.9.0. I received great feedback that traits should be optional for roleplay purposes. However, simply skipping the trait selection screen caused mechanical issues: if you skipped it, but later bought the "Extra Traits" perk three times, you would permanently lock yourself out of a 4th trait.

To solve this, I implemented the new "Inept" trait:

Hard Mode: Picking this skips standard trait selection and locks you out of the Extra Traits perk entirely.

Reversible: You can reverse this at any time by visiting the Spa and selecting the new "Meditate" option.

The Cure: For a 5-token fee, you lose the Inept trait, immediately pick one of the four starting traits, and regain the ability to buy the Extra Traits perk as normal.

I also implemented a system where MC's pleasure naturally decays over time (rather than staying static between time blocks), and spent time organizing the back-end code to make future updates much smoother.

Verity's "Receiving" Scene

I'll be completely transparent: I hit a bit of a creative block regarding the new vagina-exclusive scenes. That is why I gravitated toward minor, code-related tasks rather than tackling the massive scenes first, which require new art and a lot of trial and error.

Fortunately, I finally found a solid direction for the new "Receiving" scene, in which Verity will primarily service the MC via fingering and oral. Even better, I am fairly sure I can reuse Verity's existing head and upper-body assets from her handjob and blowjob scenes, which will speed up development significantly.

I only have rough, early sketches right now, so I'm not quite ready to share sneak peeks. You can definitely expect some in the next devlog next week!
