Howdy folks!

This release is going to be mostly under-the-hood changes to enable custom enemy modding- we've spent some of the last month working on getting Liala prepped and ready, but the majority of the time has gone towards writing up documentation on how characters are made, how to set them up in both Blender and Unity, along with updating the game to allow modding to begin with.

While there is no new content in this release, you will be able to set your resolution, run the game in proper windowed mode, and set framerate caps.

The modding process is still a work in progress, and we are providing what we have as-is. It will be updated more in the future.

A few things are also changing for this and future releases:

We are no longer going to be offering Mac and Linux builds, due to the uncertainties that come with adding modding on to systems that aren't Windows. We already do not have any proper access to Linux or Mac machines to do any testing, and we already weren't able to solve a lot of Mac and Linux-specific issues. This has been reconsidered as of 08/05/26. Please see the new post.

Patreon Only releases will now only have download links on the Patreon pages and will not feature any backup MEGA links. Future free releases (when characters are in full) will not have any change.

So that brings up a better ask, will the full release of the game come to any main pages, like steam or stay here only and with modding too?

LoVe DiNoDRaGon

ganna meeting to them right now~!! 💞💞💞💞

Kivarnis

Super unfortunate to not have Linux release, especially given app images or flatpaks.

Kage_Bushi

Well, hope doesn't bring too much issues trying to run it on Linux. But I can go test and see what happens

Fruitbat

Understandable with Mac and Linux. I imagine that Proton through Steam would work, I don't know if there's a similar option for Mac?

bob

mmm mac and cheese yum

Rasdon inaka

i'm not offended by this as at linux user as long as it runs in proton/wine with no problem. Not many people test the compatibility. Layer before shoving their game out and wondering why steam numbers are looking weird

Captain_meth Mr

I hope you can download mods in game like BDCC

Sarkath

CrossOver (basically Wine running under Rosetta 2) seems to work fine. I imagine other, similar solutions would work as well. It's still very unfortunate to have to suddenly start relying on Intel/ARM translation after having a solid native version available, though. :/

Owen Stocking

to ask what does the modding do for the game?

firespikez

Yeah, very unfortunate. I had a few issues with Wine + Windows version, but native Linux version just run very well and works with a game controller too. Maybe it had issues but I could not find them.

MarvelousEyes

Just wanted to second this. Haven't tried any work arounds to run the Windows version yet, but the native Linux version ran well on my end too (On Pop_OS! fwiw). It's understandable why, but dropping support out of the blue this far in is a huge bummer :/

MarvelousEyes

As early as it is, really cool to see mod support is underway!! Lots to dig intoooo °<°; That said, I know y'all said it was always a side thing, but dropping Linux & Mac support this far in is a bummer :/ Not sure what was involved with getting those versions made, but on Linux (Pop_OS fwiw) myself and had no issues running the native Linux release.

Kylan

Heya! First, thank you for making this game :) Given that your new post mentions that Linux support will be continued, if you need testers do let me know (on Linux myself obviously). I very much understand how complicated making a game is, so if I can help in any way to make your life a little bit easier do not hesitate.

Sarkath

Thank you very much for reconsidering! 💚 When it comes to modding, BepInEx and Mono are doing all the heavy lifting. It's close in concept to modding Stardew Valley (another .NET game, though not based on Unity): the main difference is how the mod loader is installed. While not .NET based, Minecraft: Java Edition is similar—mod packs work seamlessly across operating systems after the (Neo)Forge/Fabric loaders are installed. The way the game is packaged is more or less the same on Linux and Windows, so the directions will mostly translate. On macOS, it's still technically the same when you dig into it (right-click the bundle in Finder and click "Show Package Contents", or use the CLI). Regardless, if the user is able to install BepInEx, they'll be able to handle the rest. I certainly don't mind helping out with testing. I have a Mac, as well as a fleet of Linux PCs running various distros.

MarvelousEyes

Just wanted to say thank you for reconsidering!!

Shadow Keeper

I think if you buy an Apple laptop for them they might be more inclined to agree

Shadow Keeper

You can't develop for Apple unless you gave them money

Sarkath

They can have my M1 Pro MBP if they're in the US and don't mind paying for shipping. I also volunteered to test, free of charge, so I'm more than willing to donate my time to keep the port alive (just like several other folk here). But hey, go off I guess. As for your other comment: like several other platforms, you only need to pay to develop for macOS if you want to publish to the App Store (and for some reason I don't think it's going to be accepted on there). One would think the fact that they were producing Mac builds from a Windows box would have made that obvious.

Attila Gáthy

Sorry Alsnapz, but can I ask 1 or 2 little things from you please? :)

Flameinfiren

Mac is fine, but Linux was a big bummer

Lizard After Dark

I totally plan on adding G'aad to this game sooner or later, keep up the good work~
