⚙️ Graphics & Lighting Update

Many of these changes were originally planned specifically for the release of the early version of the PPFilter, but DLSS 5 changed the plans a little, and I had to focus more on the media side of things.

However, DLSS 5 also made it possible to take a new look at some subtle but important details in the graphics. So some of the changes were made with the improvements introduced by DLSS 5 in mind.

▪️ Shadows

Significant changes were made to the shadows and their color tone.

Originally, the shadows in the game are very harsh, dark, and have a very strong blue tint.

Two controllers for Pure were added, allowing control over certain parameters. Thanks to this, it was possible to improve the shadows and make them less harsh as well.

▪️ Sun Rays & Flare

Another Bloom was also added, which makes the lighting look more natural and the shadows softer.

▪️ Sun Rays & Flare

Sun rays have been added.

As well as a subtle, adjustable flare for the sun disc.

▪️ Surface Response

A Surface Response shader has been added, which gives surfaces a softer response to lighting.

Simply put, it allows asphalt and other surfaces to look slightly more three-dimensional, while a subtle highlight emphasizes paint, plastic, and other materials, making them look less harsh.

▪️ Car Reflections

The brightness of reflections on cars has been increased.

▪️ Silvertone

A Silvertone shader has been added.

It redistributes the brightness of the frame, connecting shadows, midtones, and illuminated surfaces.

It reduces the feeling of a flat and overly digital image.

▪️ Sky Improvements

Improvements were also made to the sky, which looked noticeably worse in the previous version of the PPFilter.

📌 Overall Changes

A large number of other changes were also made, which I don't see much point in listing individually.

All of this, including the new shaders and controllers, allowed us to get closer to more realistic graphics, as well as closer to the references recorded in real life in Tokyo that I reviewed in order to recreate something similar in the SRP project.

But it's important to know that for SRP I use Modern Skin SRP by AEGIS for LCS, the latest version of which you can download here.

▪️ Filter Customization

I remember some of you asking for access to the settings, and now it's available.

Most of the settings are now accessible. Mainly the Bloom settings remain hidden, as I plan to make their parameters more convenient to use.

⚙️ What's Next

All of these changes are only the foundation for future improvements, so the work continues.

The next update will focus on the bloom from brake lights, which currently doesn't look quite the way I would like it to, as well as the bloom from street lights.

In particular, I plan to implement smooth transitions when the street lights turn on early, because right now the bloom flickers at the transition between sunset and night.

Please fix the "trail" of the car in 3rd person when driving.

CHILL N RACE

Hi. Could you send me a screenshot on Discord of the trails you're seeing? My Discord: vacokevgenii

Yeah, at night there's some strange flickering on the car, also maybe a future suggestion a custom tab for the moon like the sun, be able to change moon size, moon rays, and glow-emitting light, etc you know, all that stuff you can do with the sun but to the moon :) else its really well done; currently using your PP filter

CHILL N RACE

Yeah, I've noticed the flickering in the reflections. I checked how things look with other filters, and it turns out that pretty much all of them have this issue. I'll try to fix it in the future. It might be related to the masks, since there's no access to the 3D scene, and all a PPFilter can do is work with the HDR image, which is where all these difficulties come from. By the way, the flickering can become even more noticeable if you're using DLSS, especially the flickering of the bloom from street lights. Yeah, I have big plans for improving the nighttime visuals, I just haven't gotten around to working on them yet. I'm also planning to add different skyboxes for nighttime, because having just a black sky doesn't look very good. I'm glad you liked my PPFilter. If you have any questions or run into any bugs, feel free to message me directly on Discord. I don't ignore anyone, I reply to everyone=)
