Howdy folks! I'm taking a short break from Kamen Rider to work on a new Warlock subclass that's been on my mind recently.

After seeing Blades of Fire and playing a little bit of it, I thought the concept of a "forge Warlock" was really cool.

Yes, I'm aware the Forge Cleric was a thing back in old 5e, and the Battle Smith is literally another thing that aligns with crafting, but I actually haven't seen a subclass that interacts directly with 5e's crafting rules. Yes, they do exist on page 233 of the 2024 PHB, or on page 187 of the 2014 handbook.

This is by no means a subsystem for crafting. That's something for a future Monster Hunter homebrew. But this certainly covers that niche of a subclass that creates stuff.

The character concept I'm thinking of isn't the same one as the regicidal Aran from Blades of Fire. Instead, I'm thinking of a character who is passionate about creating a steel masterpiece, but either through incompetence or misfortune, is incapable of even lifting a hammer. Enter The Forge. A spirit of creation from times long passed who shares this character's vision of creation, but lacks the body to mold steel! A pact forged by necessity, but tempered by the trials of adventure!

Look forward to it soon! And if you can't wait to see how it looks, or you want to see its progress, consider becoming a Militia member!

Anyway, my wife and I hope you guys have a great weekend ahead!

You shouldn't EVER abstain from pursuing your creativity just because a similar concept has been tackled once or twice before in official material. That's arbitrary balooney that peeps on Reddit enforce to feel smart about themselves. If the idea is beckoning you, then do it!
