Upcoming Homebrew: Gunpowder, Sand, and a Scorched Basin (Patreon)
Content
Today's stream-of-consciousness post is about Trigun. I know I posted a lot of options last week, which included incredible titles like GARO, Karas, or Gavv, but September is special 'cos it'll have my first sponsor!
First Sponsor!I'm proud to say that the upcoming September videos will be sponsored by Homie and the Dude and their new Scorched Basin Kickstarter! It's a system-agnostic setting with a Mad Max-like desert punk aesthetic, complete with a wealth of factions and some incredibly evocative art! Scorched Basin can be used as a standalone setting or something you can plug into your existing campaign! I even lent my voice on one of their promo videos (you'll hear me in the first 20 seconds of the video)!
By the way, the first 500 backers of the project get a limited edition, numbered, and signed print!
(Full transparency: the link to their KS is an affiliate link, and a percentage of your backing supports the channel!)
So why Trigun?
A few weeks ago, I was given the honor of recording an episode for the In & Out of Character: A Roleplayers Podcast! Mr. Island mentioned loving Trigun, and I figured it'd be a great opportunity to sync it up with Scorched Basin. Not sure when that episode will come out, but check them out anyway!
I'm a '90s kid. Well, technically, I was born in '88, but let's not make me feel any older than I already feel, haha! The 1998 Trigun anime was also my first encounter with a Western desert punk setting, with all the grime and gunpowder of a post-apocalyptic world.
It was just ooozing with style, and Vash himself cuts a very recognizable silhouette.
Also, I wanna believe it's a nice little tribute to my fellow millennials, haha.
Fighter? Gun-Monk?... Sorcerer?
Vash is a lot of things. He's a pacifist with incredibly sharp aim, but he's also a living generator.
I could go the Arcane Archer route and make a partially magical ranged Fighter, or I could polish off a bit of my old Gun-Kata Monk to lean more into his pacifist side.
But then his Plant species lets him do some crazy magitech stuff, like wings and blades, so maybe a Sorcerer might work?
I'll have to give it a think, but there's a good chance this ends up being a Fighter Subclass, haha.
But hey, if you wanna see it early, consider becoming part of the Mallard Militia! If you wanna influence its design, the Mallard Royal Guard tier gives you access to the alpha versions of the document!
